View Full Version : Are you a packrat?
guy321 04-28-2004, 12:50 PM What kind of stuff do you keep?
While cleaning out my apartment for a move, I've discovered that i'm a packrat...
someof the things i've elected to keep..
my kayak, rollerblades, 100 feet of static rapelling rope and a harness, 6 tennis balls, 1 p-90 laptop , 3 kayak paddles, 4 old boxing gloves, an old guitar, a broken 52 inch projection tv, a broken drying machine and 16 non-matching socks.. I threw away alot of other junk!
btw, i cant play the guitar, rollerblades hurt my feet, i cant put a kayak on top my car.
Meowloud 04-28-2004, 12:51 PM I collect all the tickets from every movie I have ever been to.
mysql101 04-28-2004, 12:54 PM No, in fact my wife always complains that I throw everything away if it doesn't have much immediate need to me.

WOW, the clothes and puter things are exactly our problems.
We both horde these! No wonder we don't have children, we wouldn't have a closet for them!! HA HA!
Not that we ever wear the close or use the electronics... you just never know when you'll need that exact item, therefore, you just can't get rid of it!!!! :D
(My favorite nonsense was the STP sleepers when I was 5ish. They even had the feet in them!)
RX-GR8 04-28-2004, 10:09 PM packrat here. save everything. old concert/sporting event ticket stubs, magazines, electronics, etc.
D MENAC 7 04-28-2004, 11:45 PM I have a garage, I just can't get into it. It's like, everything has value to me, except garbage. My wife, on the other hand, is a person who throws it all away. I want to have a garage sale, I just don't have a garage to do it in. :D
jtimbck2 04-29-2004, 02:14 PM I'm genetically a pack rat, one of my dad's uncles was one of those people you read about who lives in an apartment that's packed floor to ceiling with junk with only a narrow aisle to get through the place. When he died they filled 3 dumpsters with junk from his apartment.
My dad inherited the "pack rat gene", and I think I did too...so I tend to have to force myself to throw things away.
Speed-ER doc 04-29-2004, 02:49 PM My rule is, if I haven't used it or thought about it in a year, then I don't need it. I wish I was better about following it. My most embarrassing example: bought $600 snow skis marked down (and down, and down....) to $19.99. Haven't been skiing in a few years, never bothered to put bindings on them, and they are 10cm longer than I have ever used. It was just too hard to pass up that deal.
Just part of my collection of crap.
