View Full Version : I Hate Mazda!!!!!!!!
quicks8 02-20-2003, 07:03 AM There is going to be an RX-8 at an auto show in my city in a couple weeks and since I have pre-ordered my car I would expect to be able to sit in the car and take some pics of it. Yet when I emailed Mazda (rx8orders) about it, this was the response.
"I did confirm your question with the department that handles the auto shows. Unfortunately, you will not be permitted to sit in the vehicle. There will only be one RX-8 at the show and it will be
shipped to various other shows."
I am sorry but this is bullsh*t!
In the past 15 years, I have never owned anything other than a Mazda. I currently have a 99 Miata and before that 3rd and 2nd gen RX-7's. So being the loyal mazda customer that I am, I pre-order on Jan. 8th and committed to dropping what is close to $35,000 (w/tax) on a car I have never seen nor had a chance to drive or even just sit in the damn thing and this is Mazda's response to what any rational person would consider a logical request.
I am so pissed that I am half tempted to call my dealer and cancel my order and go get a 350Z. I HATE THEM I HATE THEM I HATE THEM.
said7 02-20-2003, 07:56 AM Maybe you shouldnt have preordered if you wanted to sit in it first.
If they let you sit in it at the autoshow i assume everyone would want too.
Good luck on you new Z :D
max_stirling 02-20-2003, 08:16 AM Sometimes they will bend the rules. A few years back when the Tribute was first introduced, we were seriously considering buying one. We wanted to go to Atlanta to see some friends and I found out that the Tribute would be at the Atlanta auto show, so we timed our trip with the auto show. The Tribute was not shown at the local DC show that year.
Anyway, we got to the show early on a weekday and the crowds were very thin. The Tribute was on display on a rotating stand and visitors were not allowed to touch it. We talked to the model displaying the car and told her that we were from out of town and were in Atlanta to look at the Tribute. Without even asking she invited us on the stand and essentually gave us a private showing of the vehicle.
There's no harm in asking, especially if there aren't too many ppl around. We have also gotten bumped to first class a couple of time for free just by being friendly and asking. The worst that can happen is that they will say, 'no'.
quicks8 02-20-2003, 08:25 AM Max--
That's a good point. For some reason the show starts on a Wednesday, maybe I will head down there at lunch, since it is only a few blocks from where I work, and see what they say. I can't imagine it being too busy at noon during a work week.
Thanks again..

RXhusker 02-20-2003, 09:19 AM Bring your pre-order confirm email and beg for mercy as a love sick rotary fan.:D
DrKillJoY 02-20-2003, 09:26 AM calm down.. don't take the word of some guy sitting behind a desk for that of someone who actually works at the show...
what show are you going to?
note: nearly eveyone who has tried, has been able to sit in the car at least for a little bit...
Hey, thats a pretty bad excuse to not let u in the car. I went to the Canadian Auto Show at Toronto and they had 4 RX-8 (Production, RX-01, X-Men and Revolv). Althought media day was on the day before the 1st day of the show and all cars were unlocked and accessable to the media; there were car mag editors on the day I went (6th day) and they all have access to the locked cars on the rotating stands, but don't quote me on this. I saw a Toronto Star editor inside a Enzo Ferrari and people there were all surrounding the stand as the sales rep sits inside with the editor playing with the buttons of a rare excotic vehicle.
They declined you because it is troublesome. Since, if they let you inside because you pre-ordered it, everyone who pre-ordered the car would ask to be inside one at the show and the sales would be too busy. I believe you're better off calling the person who processed your pre-order and ask, they'll probably say no, then u'll tell them that you're thinking of cancelling your pre-order (if you really are).
quicks8 02-20-2003, 11:39 AM It is the Cincinnati Auto Expo.
unemployedpimp 02-20-2003, 01:15 PM when i went to the miami international auto show last year they wouldnt let me sit in a Porche , i got mad and i just went and i tried to open the door but it was locked. but atleast i tried to go in
if i were u i would screw mazda and sit in the rx-8.

boo hoo hoo. why the fuck would Mazda give a rats ass about you? loyal customer? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. that's some pretty funny shit. honestly....that really was classic.
zoom44 02-20-2003, 02:28 PM evryone is so pissed about not being allowed to sit in the car at an auto show. imagine how i feel just a day and a half drive from laguna seca and our show being litttle more than a week after the drives for the journalists and no RX-8 to even look at from behind the rope. the local mazda people decided that the needed/wanted to make a big push on the mazda6 and thought the 8 would steal the spotlight too much :( i spent some time chatting with salespeople and asking questions (the lady doing the spiel from the mazda6 dais was real cute) to the point that several other showgoers started asking me stuff about the 8 and the 6 and one couple in their 50's ended up deciding to buy a 6! did i get any thanks from the mazda people? no! all i got was the salesperson who i originally put my deposit with making sure he had my name and numbers so he( imho) could make sure he got his part of the commision. they even told me that they purposely didn't order any rx-8 brochures for the show so they could concentrate on the 6. in fact the only clue that mazda was even introducing the 8 was that if you were a 8 nut like me and you were paying attention, the dais that the mazda6 was spinning on was in the shape of a rotor.
oh yeah and talk to your dealer to see if someone from their store will be there, they should be able to get you a sit down at least.
quicks8 02-20-2003, 04:47 PM Unfortunately all the greedy ass dealers around here are selling the car for 2500-5000 over invoice. So I had to go all the way out to Indianapolis to get one at MSRP. With all the dreadful experiences I have had and heard of with Jake Sweeney Mazda in Springdale, OH, I should have known better than to go to them first about the car. Hell it wasn't until the sales guy had a 20 minute conversation with the sales manager that he actually knew what the 8 was. GOD I HATE THAT PLACE!
Bottom line, in this case, I doubt calling my dealer will do me any good. That is a good idea nonetheless for anyone else who is going to be in this position soon enough.
I was actually surprised when Mazda admitted there would be an 8 at the show. I mean this is Cincinnati, OH, like 2 people live in Cincinnati, it isn't like this is Chicago or something. So I am at least grateful I will be able to lay my eyes on one before I get it. I just hope it is the Red one that they bring to the show so I can see what that color really looks like.
Thanks for the advice...

fritts 02-20-2003, 06:34 PM OK, Pimples
Why don't you find something more suited to your maturity level. Like playing with GI Joes, rather than getting on your parents computer looking at porn and making idiotic remarks on a forum in which you have no real business being on. Your are 14 right, why don't you come back when your 16 and then we can have a poll on whether or not your mature enough to have a conversation on a subject such as cars. Especially since by then you might have actually been behind the wheel of a car instead of in a booster seat in the back....
Strider 02-20-2003, 06:43 PM Quick 8, think of it this way... Indy didn't get the 8 at all at our auto show.
As for the maturity of unemployedpimp... I don't think that it is needed. Maturity is the key here, get some. I too have about of enough of random stupid comments. If you want to go bash people and act in such a retarded manner go to clubsi.com. [insert more comments here]

I am not getting into any more name calling with you, I am going to try my best just to ignore your posts, in hopes that a moderator will permanently remove you from this forum.
zoom44 02-20-2003, 07:29 PM that would be the best move you could make fritts. strider and cueball you're only going to egg him on.
unemployed pimp consider yourself warned: stop with the name calling and flame-baiting. you can do better than that.
Toadman 02-20-2003, 07:31 PM Yep.
cueball 02-20-2003, 07:34 PM Sorry about that. I got caught up in the moment. I edited my post. I'll try not to let it happen again.
unemployedpimp 02-20-2003, 08:11 PM wat did cueball say to get him in trouble?
cueball 02-20-2003, 08:22 PM I was adding to the flame war. It was nothing that bad, just was spreading the fire and I realized I shouldn't have said it so I edited it.
unemployedpimp 02-20-2003, 08:31 PM lol
Rx8Mango 02-20-2003, 09:04 PM The dealer that I put a deposit on said that he will arrange (they have 1 Rx8 on display) for me after the car show when everyone is gone to allow me to sit inside. You should talk to your dealer and ask him about making some arrangements.
I mean, this is almost like being loyal to a musician, you may buy all his CDs and listen to all his stuff, and when you see him/her in person they may not give you that autograph that you wanted.

speaking of censorship, KFI 640 AM Radio, out in LA, had the Program Director on one of the talk shows this evening. He's afraid that if the hosts continue to talk about the possible/eventual war in Iraq, he's gonna start losing listeners, which means less interested advertisers, which makes him less money, obviously. This is what the Program Director believes to believe. He's convinced that this will happen he's sure of it cause he knows what the audience wants to hear because his experience is just that good. He now has suggested and is pushing for talk radio shows across America to just not talk about the war in Iraq. Forget about the boys flown over there to do a job that no one would want to do, whether it'd be for Iraq, North Korea, China, France.....or France....did I mention France? All this to save listeners and advertising revenues. Ain't life grand?
quicks8 02-21-2003, 07:39 AM I think I should apologize for starting this thread given what it turned into. I won't add the flaming by responding to any of that. But I would like to thank the guys who did for the support.
That sucks about the Indy show. You should come down to Cincy and see the show. It is all that long of a drive and if you are from Indy we would love to have ya. I meet a ton of really cool people each time I go to Indy.
quicks8 02-21-2003, 07:46 AM I am to lazy to look and see how close your city actually is to Indy on a map, but if you own an import anything from a BMW to an RX-7 or Miata. There is an excellent automotive shop near Indy called AIM Tuning [AIM=Advanced Import Motorsports]
That is why I am in Indy so often, I used to drive all that way to get them to work on my 7 and now it is for my Miata. That is one place you can trust with your car. I don't even trust the dealerships anymore. They are great to work with and are extremely knowledgeable. You can check out their web site here:
http://www.aimtuning.com
Shane Benson is the owner if you call ask for him.
Maestro 02-21-2003, 04:26 PM Just bring your pre-order form I'm sure they would let you.
I would :D
Donny Boy 02-25-2003, 08:55 PM Soon you will be able to drive as much as you like, eventually. Then you will be saying:
