At what RPM does the red line buzzer buzz. I've never heard this in my car yet.

close the windows and turn the radio off. it's not a buzzer but more of a chime.

it's not very loud, roll up your windows, turn off your radio, and turn off your ac

?¿ Mine must be broken?

It may be hard to hear because of the [Zoom Zoom].

I barely hear mine at times...

I don't think Mazda took into account the noise coming from the Renesis at 8500 RPM's when they set the volume for that buzzer. I don't hear mine unless I'm watching the tach for the 8500 mark, and even then I have to strain to hear it.

I haven't heard my buzzer in about 1 month. Replaced it with the B&B :D

i firmly believe there is a break-in period for the buzzer - i never noticed it when the car was new and now i can't miss it :p

You guys might want to think about getting your ears cleaned. Try a q-tip.

It sounds like your ears are ringing to me so maybe thats why you can hear it. its kind of just a high pitched tone

Some one should make a replacement with like a foghorn or semi-tractor air horn for these guys. It be a lot of fun to see a passengers reaction when it went off.

I heard it. And I only drove an rx-8 2 times. First time was with a dealer that wanted me to open it up, and the other time was at mazda rev it up. :)

I listened very hard for the buzzer/beeper on my way home today. It's barly audioable over the Zoom-Zoom. I really would not have thought that it was buzzer if I did not know.

i wonder if you have the beep setting on the radio turned off will this deactivate the buzzer?

I now have the Borla installed so I cannot hear the beep at all anymore. Prior to Borla it was very difficult to hear. Perhaps it is louder in some cars than others? Does the beep come through the radio speakers?

No it comes from behind the dash and sounds like a dying mouse.

LOL. A dying mouse. I like that. My mouse is dead then.

Anyone then gone on to hit the rev limiter? I did it once when going around a roundabout and got distracted so didn't change up from 1st. BTW it kicks in at 9,400 or 42mph in 1st gear. Ooops. Prior to this I did wonder is there was a rev limiter, as it keeps climbing into the red :-)

kbull
04-28-2004, 12:26 PM
Yeah, bouncing the rev limiter's a lot of fun. Try to match the rev falloff with your upshift.

It's always beeping.
Beep..... Beeep...... Beeeeep.

BEEEEEEEEEP

Okay. I'll have to stop letting my wife drive now.

I think my buzzer is bad, or mabye they left the tape over the hole that the sound comes through.

Piezo buzzers/beepers come with a little piece of tape over them so that when they get washed (to remove flux and debrie after they are soldered into the PCB) they don't get killed. I've also found many many bad beepers durring my jobs testing electronics.

it truly must have a break in time.. cause it never did it for me untll after 600 miles. now its there like clock work.

however it is very very quiet. and it is a nice mellow tone chime. not a beep or a buzzer. Kinda funny cause you would think that it would scream loud and clear " Shift Now Ass Whipe" but it is very very quiet.

Good luck yours to will come :)

does the DSC light blink if you hit the rev limiter by any chance??

I thought I hit the limiter one day since the revs were way up there and the car took a dump suddenly, but I could swear I saw the DSC light come on...

thew

it took a dump when the rev limiter turned on.. I have never seen the DSC light turn on for that reason...

Do you want a shift light with that  ?

That is the funnest thing I saw is an automatic Lancer with a giant shift light.

BTW I doubt there is much use of the shift chime in an auto, I am sorry

Did anyone made it louder, yet?

The DSC will blink if you upshift hard and spin the back wheels - I can easily do this on a 1-2 shift ...

Mine is barely there but my hearing is also badly fried.

Just read this thread for the first time. The shift tone does sound like a dying mouse.. or at least some squealing rodent. I'm thinking chipmunk. Does anyone else feel guilty making this rodent squeal?

It subtley blends with the sound of the engine at that RPM. The engine is so smooth I have hit the limiter often and been like wtf

I tried to make it louder, went a'diggin thru the instrument cluster and found it, but it is too complicated for me.

It has power with the ignition, and it grounds out thru the ECU to beep, my 'big M.F. Sonalert' solution is no good, maybe one of our electrical 'genius' types could work something up?

Thanks for the pic!

Are you sure that is the buzzer? What are the other three black round thingies? Coils or part the gauges? It's hard to make them out in that picture
