Hey, does anyone know if this is the same color as "Laser Blue Mica" on the Protege? I saw a Protege in that color yesterday and the color was OK, I'm just curious if anyone knows if this is the same. A paint code'll do too if you have one.

If the color names are different the colors are different. Even if ever so slightly.

You sure, because a buddy of mine said that the color yellow of his car (MP3) was a different name than the color on the Mazda 6 and the Miata, however the paint codes for the color were identical despite the different name.

The famous image of the blue car that we are all using as a benchmark for the colour is heavily in shadow. I altered the levels with PhotoShop and now it matches many of the other blue pictures. I still like it but it's subtly different:

Lensman: Any significance in the "R8 PEW" license plate?:eek:

The licence plate is the one that will appear on my blue RX-8, I have it reserved and I'd added it to this image to see what it looked like. The 'R8' is obvious and the 'PEW' are my initials. To be honest I only got it so that the front of the car (I'm in the UK) wasn't burdened with a standard UK width (2 more characters). The grill isn't really big enough.

Lensman what reg letter are they up to now in the UK? I recall having an "M" reg and it was a 91 I think.
It was an Opel GTS BTW. Are they still manufactured? It was a pretty decent car in the twisty Yorkshire Dales. (Did I get that right too? It's been awhile) :) I also recall it being one of the top stolen cars too. :(

Got these from a touch-up paint site, these are all the various colors they had listed. Of course some were listed for multiple cars and years. Looks like the only variance as your friend mentioned is in the Protege. The regular and MP3 version have different color names but same code...hmmm :confused:

Mazda Protege Sunburst Yellow: HZ
Mazda Protege MP3 Vivid Yellow: HZ
Mazda RX7 Competition Yellow Tri-Coat Pearl: J9
Mazda Miata Blazing Yellow Mica Metallic Clearcoat: 26S
Mazda 6 Chrome Yellow Clearcoat: BZ/21T
Mazda GLC Space Yellow: YW
Mazda 626 Orient Yellow: TC

The Protege5 is Vivid Yellow too, not sunburst
The Mazda 6 is Speed Yellow not Chrome yellow to let ya know
The Mazda Miata was Blaze yellow Mica in the SE
The paint code for Blaze yellow probably is HZ for the base coat, it just has a small red pearl clear coat on top of vivid yellow. The M6 yellow is lighter, i like my Protege5 Vivid Yellow b/c it is kins dark for yellow, like a maize/mustantard mix.

Anyone have any winning blue pics? I've seen all the ones that have been posted thruout the board, but wondering if anyone has any new ones. The more pics I see, the lighter it gets.... I'd like for it to stick around the 350Z and WRX blue... and not so metallic looking.... if anyone has any pics, post away! or send a link...
