Rx8, 350Z & C5 doubestandard?

Seems strange that the 'C5 vs Rx8' thread is moved to 'general automotive' but other identically themed comparison threads like the popular '350Z vs Rx8' thread(s) is allowed in 'Rx8 Discussion'

I'm confused - can someone explain why we can compare and contrast Rx8s vs 350Z but not vs C5s in this forum? I seem to be missing the difference.

In the C5 thread, it is only the Corvette that is being discussed. That is exactly what General Automotive is for.

The 350Z vs. RX8 is discussing the RX8 as well as the Z.

its because the rx8 and z are comparable. the vette owns both of them.

I didn't mean to seem strange - just want to understand the rules and follow them - also I have the expectation that my posts are treated consistently and fairly w/ respect to how others posts are treated. The oringal post in the 350Z thread is not that different from my initial post and has been there for almost a week and is still there. My post lasted mere minutes before being moved.

That is incorrect.

"8" or "Rx8" was mentioned perhaps 8 or 10 times or better the 2nd time I posted.

I personally mentioned the Rx8's fuel efficiency, torque, price range, styling, form factor, rear seats, relative weight, weight distribution.

I (erroneously?) figured that it is logical on an Rx8 forum when comparing and contrasting the Rx8 to most any other car model that the onus is on the author etc to bring add'l information regarding the 'other' model. To that end I supplied more info on the C5. The presumption being that already a reasonable knowledge regarding the Rx8 can be generally presumed.

Am I to presume that if some predetermined threshold of additional Rx8 content is added to the post beyond what is there presently that the thread will again be moved back to 'Rx8 Discussion'?

I respectfully request re-read the 'moved' 'C5 vs Rx8' thread.

The purpose in re-reading is because the reasons cited were in error. That should be plainly in evidence by reading the post as well as other similar threads allowed.

As it stands now it appears to be treated differently than 10s perhaps 100s of other similar threads that are allowed in the Rx8 Discussion forum.

Shouldn't this be moved to lounge or something? :)

"think"? That is incorrect. I stated factually that Rx8s were implicitly and explicitly discussed in the thread. A mod disagreed. I provided a link to the thread in which ANYONE can click into and see for themselves - The post is there for ANYONE to read and see that in fact Rx8s WERE (contrary to what a mod erroneously stated) discussed.

FACT: Rx8s were explicitly and implicitly discussed and I was inviting and desiring to here from more Rx8 owners that may be in a position to comment on both models.

FACT: Other essentially identical threads exist in this same forum in which Rx8s are explicitly and implicitly compared and contrasted to other models of vehicles.

FACT: These other threads are allowed to exist unmoved for days, weeks, months and indeed indefinately.

FACT: I inquired about comparisons between '04 C5 Coupes and Rx8s and the post was moved within minutes.

There is no persecution complex - merely an observation of verifiable FACTS - merely a polite and respectful request to understand an aparent discrepency in how standards are being applied to the recent 'C5 vs Rx8' thread compared to an apparent de-facto standard that has been applied to others.

It is apparent that you yourself have suddenly become defensive perhaps because no reasonable rationale for the difference in treatment has been presented? I simply don't know.

Perhaps there is a reasonable or even nuanced rationale for treating the discussion on 'Rx8s vs C5s' differently than so many other Rx8 vs 'xxx' threads...? I'm still patiently and respectfully awaiting an answer w/o a persecution complex so that in the future we all can learn where to post comparisons between Rx8s. Currently on the surface it just seems that certain models can be compared on Rx8 Discussion and other makes must be discussed in 'General'...???

What is "unhealthy" I submit is the apparentl difference in how this thread has been treated w/o a factually correct rationale.

I think all the vs. threads should go to the lounge and join the other vs. threads like rx8 vs. sonic the hedgehog, rx8 vs. your momma, rx8 vs. rx8. I don't see any difference between any of them either.

defensive maybe. what i dislike about this is that every so often someone comes on the forum and bitches about how a mod treated "their" thread and then goes on to point out how other threads by other people weren't treated in the same fashion. this person will then come up with some rationale as to why his/her thread was treated that way. then they whine about how unfair it is that they got singled out. are the mods people that can occasionally make a mistake? sure. do we purposefully go around picking on threads that are just about this car or that car? no! you know why? most of them don't have the friggin time nor would any of these mods if they did. we simply do not operate that way and any insinuation or direct charge that we would pisses me off! if we did find a mod doing what you are saying we would deal with it but no one is. proof in point- if we were to pick on threads having to do with any particular car it would be 350Z threads! there have been like 900 of them. so there is no bias against you or the c5. just do a friggin search using corvette and find how many times it has been mentioned. when i did that search for you it came up in like 30 threads. your continued effort in this thread is just damn offensive. you didn't like the response? you know what?you dont have to! we're not here to make things "fair" for YOU. want to discuss it furthur with cueball?use the PM system. still feel like you were treated unfairly? While every so often 'someone comes along' there is no call to hold past experiences against someone.

If I had noticed that anotehr post was moved while my similar/identical post was left alone - I would be JUST as concerned. Of course I do have a vested interest in 'my' post but only in so far as it is treated fairly and consistently w/ respect to how others are treated.

I've observed what 'appears' to be an inconsistency - that is all. And I've respectuflly asked why.

I don't know of the 'whining' and 'bitching' reference has a point or is particularly constructive but I have tried to provide FACTS and ask a simple question - the answer to which should benefit every member on this forum.

It's unfortunate you find my inquiry offensive - it was not meant to be - merely a statement of facts and a polite and respectful request as to why the action was taken.

I've been careful to stick to the FACTS and have chosen my words carefully and used terms like 'appears' to be inconsistent etc. I used a '?' in the subject as well. The FACTS support the 'apparent' incongruity but hey, maybe there is an underlying reason that is not obvious to me but should be...

It's not JUST the 350Z thread vs the C5 thread - there are in fact and have been since I started frequenting this board - many many many countless threads that can be classified as 'Rx8 vs xxx'. A simple search renders pages of similar comparisons and contrasts in this specific forum alone! Again, not my opinion - just another observable FACT.

Good frickin grief. I moved the post because it discussed the C5 more than the RX-8. The RX-8 Vs 350Z post reads more about the RX-8 than anything else, at least at first. Titles have nothing to do with it. I judged it as best I could, moved it as I deemed appropriate, just to AVOID this kind of thing. I actually read the content of the posts instead of blindly moving things around based on the thread title. Seems I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. And this is a REALLY stupid thing to argue about.

And this should have been posted in Suggestions or the Lounge, which is where I'm moving it to now.
