Buger 02-17-2003, 05:30 PM Post pictures of your pets here! Toadman said that if you have a camel, you can't post pics of it's toes though. :D
This is our pet beagle Basil (pronounced like the mouse from Baker street not the spice). We adopted him on Feb 16, 2002 from the Pikes Peak humane society when he was about 1 year old. :D

inittab 02-17-2003, 05:50 PM Dogs drool ... cats rule. ;)
Na.... I like dogs too. :)
Here's Calie the psycho kittie. We're buddies!
miata35 02-17-2003, 06:20 PM This is Brinkley, my golden retreiver. He's a wild one.
91vert 02-17-2003, 06:44 PM Here's my Golden Retriever Katie.....she was tired....
I'm definitely a dog afficionado. The slightly injured Vizsla below is named Sullivan.
On to my second dog...
The affable chap behind bars is AJ.
Toadman 02-17-2003, 07:45 PM Toadman said that if you have a camel, you can't post pics of it's toes though.I said no such thing. I have no toe-sucking fetish. :D
My 8 year-old Springer Spaniel, Boomer. (Yes, red-eyes are normal for this sporting dawg.)

I can steal any cat from its owner with catnip and a bowl of milk. How's that for loyalty? ;)
pelucidor 02-17-2003, 10:26 PM Tycho at 2 years old and Kepler at 1. Golden retrievers are the most devoted creatures I have met.
pelucidor 02-17-2003, 10:34 PM Tycho the snow dog (taken 2 years ago when we still lived in northern NJ).
Buger 02-18-2003, 12:38 AM Sorry Inittab, it appears you're the only cat owner/lover here so far. :D
I'm a dog lover myself. Cats are cool too but I don't think I'll ever own one.
Cool pics everyone, keep em coming! :)
RX-8 Zoomster 02-18-2003, 01:19 AM I only have a few pictures available of my 3 pets, since I'm away from home, so they're not the best shots.
Here's Smokey, he's 2. 91vert, and you thought your Katie was tired.
RX-8 Zoomster 02-18-2003, 01:21 AM ...And Callie. She's also 2. We got her and Smokey, as kittens, at the same time.
RX-8 Zoomster 02-18-2003, 01:24 AM ...And my sweetheart, Gypsy. She's an Congo African Grey. She's about 3 years old.
RX-8 Zoomster 02-18-2003, 01:36 AM ..And I must not forget Camey, a real spitter. Not really my pet, but wanted you all to get a glimpse of the local wildlife around here.

pelucidor 02-18-2003, 12:42 PM I think cats are great - when I was a kid in London my parents and I had a tabby that weighed 16 lbs (just huge not fat) and lived to 21 years of age (but only awake for 3 of those years of course). She ruled the family firmly but fairly, and only demanded 120% of our affection and time (for petting and feeding etc). We also 'adopted' various strays that came through our cat-flap that were company for the queen of the house.
However, when I got my first dog (Tycho, just 4 years ago) I was shocked to find a mere human could occassionaly order their pet around instead of the opposite. And could actually play and wrestle with them and have FUN as opposed to just being their slave and serving them (i.e. cats). So we got another Golden from the same breeder - the 4-legged demon called Kepler that turned out to be half-cat (uses his claws in fights and on furniture, never barks, hates dogs, does nothing but eat, sleep and demand constant attention - my wife's dog of course). I will never live without a dog again because of the devotion and expressiveness they can show, but I would like to add a full cat to the mix one day to see what happens.
2007RX-8 02-18-2003, 12:43 PM Our Standard Schnauzer puppy, Milo (11 weeks old), pictured in the back of my Mazda, of course!
Quick_lude 02-18-2003, 02:19 PM Here is my Kitty Porn.. :D
Matthew the rascal.. he was a stray, we started feeding him and one day he just jumped into the house and that was it.. He knew a good animal house.. :)

Toadman:
Nice choice of dog breeds. :) I love Springers. I used to hunt with a friend's Springer but pointing dogs, hence the vizsla, are more my speed.
chenpin 02-18-2003, 03:31 PM I love both dogs and cats! Use to have a dog, but had to give him away cuz we moved :( . We have no yard now, so we got a cat. He's a little demon who likes to ambush me and trip me as i'm going down the stairs :D also likes to wrestle with my hand. i'll get pics later with the camera.
Quick_lude 02-18-2003, 05:15 PM I love all animals and would love to have a dog too but I'm too busy to have one, cats are a lot easier to maintain.. I would feel guilty leaving a dog alone for most of the day.
zoom44 02-18-2003, 05:22 PM wel Quick, it's not like dogs know the difference. 10 minutes or 10 hours it's all the same to them, either way they think you have been gone for days:D :p
P00Man 02-18-2003, 07:35 PM german shepherds all the way when it comes to dogs.

Taylor 11-12-2003, 05:59 PM The photos are fantastic. If pets are a reflection of the soul of their owners then there are a lot of good souls on this site. It's great to see people who love their pets as much [if not more] than their cars. :D

Grant and Gramme the cats were first.

Grant on the top of the stud wall from our basement. Gramme is the litter mate of Grant, except a black and white tabby.
Then came Pandora the ferret.

Then came Molli. She's a 'dobiedor' half lab, half doberman, with a little random hound thrown in.
http://www.geekess.org/pets/molli_smile.jpg
Then came Hanna. She's a female Pit.
http://www.geekess.org/pets/hannah_sit.jpg
Then came Gwen (on the right), and Grayson (left) was outside on our porch crying in the sub-zero night about a week or so ago.
http://www.geekess.org/pets/grayson_gwen.jpg
We've also got 55 gallons of freshwater fish that I don't have any pics of and another 10 gallons of starter tank that we grow new fish in so our angel fish won't eat new arrivals.
Do I win the award for most paws?

93rdcurrent 09-30-2004, 06:24 PM Meow, I have a question for you... I was leaving for work today and as soon as I opened my door a cute little grey and white kitty jumped away from the door and started meowing. I petted it and it looked like it hadn't eaten in a couple of days so I gave it some wet dog food (all I had). Now my wife says it still hanging out at our house like 6 hours later. We are going to call all the people in our neighborhood (block watch list) and post a pic on the bulliten board at our local Petco. Do you think this is enough or should we give it to our local animal shelter. I just didn't like the idea of the animal shelter because it would be in a cage and around sick animals. Am I doing the right thing?
Battousai 09-30-2004, 07:50 PM I don't have any pets now, however when I lived in Africa as a kid I used to keep antlions as pets. Just amazing to watch them build their little craters, like minature versions of the pit from Return of the Jedi.
There's some good info here if anyone's interested in them:

Awww, I can't stand to see things suffer. :(
If you can't keep it for awhile (in the garage, a porch, etc.), I would turn it over to a shelter. If it stays outside, it will be killed. If you take it to the Humane Society.. they may put it to sleep.
Try to find a no-kill shelter. It's easier than one may think :D Try calling a PetsMart or Petco and see if they have a 'rescue magazine'. Here in Chatt-town we have Critter. It is free and advertises shelters and what to do with homeless animals, along with displaying animals to adopt. :)
Also, you may try searching online, and you may want to try petfinder.org which will show shelters in your area.
Sorry, but I wish I lived closer to help :o
93rdcurrent 10-01-2004, 02:06 PM Meow, We took it in this morning and it is staying in our entertainment room for now. I am going to post a pic at our local Petco and I am going to call all the neighbors to see if anyone knows or has heard anything. We will keep it if we can't find its home. It is litter box trained and absolutely loves people so I know it had a home. The only problem is that some people drop their unwanted animals off in our neighborhood since we live in a nice area and they know people like us will take it in... :(
