View Full Version : Ugliest Mazda EVER!
Not quite sure what the hell I was thinking with this one... I wanted to do soemthing with STi pink, it's actually called Cherry Blossom red which is some stupid nonsense that subaru came up with because guys fear the word pink... I spent waaaaaaay too much time painting this body for my RC car, and it looks like the easter bunny vomited on it. :(
It looks better in person since the colors are darker than in the photo, but it's still ugly :(
93rdcurrent 04-20-2004, 05:07 PM I dunno, I think my sister would like it... The paint job itself looks first class. The colors are an interesting choice.
moRotorMotor 04-20-2004, 05:35 PM Woah, nice. Is that airbrush? That pattern looks sick! I agree the colors aren't the best but everything else looks top notch man. You can make a few bucks painting bodies. I know I would be willing to pay for work like that.
My airbush is out of comission right now so I did that with spray cans.
moRotorMotor 04-20-2004, 05:41 PM Come race time, you wouldn't have to worry about your car blending in with the rest of the cars. lol :D
Winning_BlueRX8 04-20-2004, 05:43 PM i don't think barbi would mind going for a spin in that.

It's funny, it actually has proved to be useful. In qualifying the announcer will say something like Ike in the pink and blue car is your leader, and when I come up on lapped traffic they know exactly what car to get out of the way of :p
Xyntax 04-20-2004, 05:55 PM Nice work Ike! Very pro. I don't like the pink though. I think it has too much pink if you're actually going for the STi theme. Doesn't that theme also have chrome and not just pink?
You could submit that idea to the 3F3F producers and I'm sure they'll be all over it :D
HiTMaNN 04-20-2004, 06:00 PM lol i got a rc car but it came pre painted
Genom 04-20-2004, 06:00 PM I loved the easter bunny pucking reference, and the colors really do look like that. But ncie job with the painting regardless.
I can just imagine the double whammy of winning. In a brite pink and sky blue car.
moRotorMotor 04-20-2004, 06:01 PM This must be some sort of psychological threat towards other cars on the track. When you think about it, how many guys would want to be beaten by a pink(/blue) car? So I think you are trying to make other drivers nervous and maybe make a mistake, giving you a slight advantage. :D
I'm just messing around. lol Kudos on the paint job. Are you putting it on a Team Associated?
Yeah, Factory Team TC3. If anyone wants to see pics of what a racing RC car looks like let me know and I'll post some up.
Here's another one that I whipped up really fast for my dad at the same time I did this one, he crashes a LOT so I don't spend much time on his bodies, sad thing is it turned out better than mine which I spent a ton of time on. He wanted purple and white and I told him I didn't think it wouldn't look good as a color combo, maybe I should keep my mouth shut as to what I think a good color combo is from now on. :p
HiTMaNN 04-20-2004, 06:14 PM mine is faster :p jkin
HiTMaNN 04-20-2004, 06:15 PM more

Might as well man. Let us see the eye candy and let the drooling begin! lol:p
Eh, don't get too excited, they're not all that pretty to look at but they sure are fun and very tunable. Let me get my shocks put back together and my camera charged up and I'll throw some photos up.
another
God I wish I could figure this damn camera out, now things are too dark
Racer X-8 04-20-2004, 11:31 PM 4-wheel drive. I coulda guessed that one. :D
Nice stuff, Ike. I was into this hobby some years back. Cool hobby, huh? :) You got me thinking about it now. Hmmm.....

I was out of it for about 13 years, and just got back into it in Feb. It's a ton of fun and I'm sorry I ever gave it up in the first place. I used to race 1/12th scale pancars, some people still race them but it's not nearly as popular as the touring cars :( My father even got back into it with me and he's out there racing at 63 years of age!
Racer X-8 04-20-2004, 11:47 PM 13 years, yep that's about it for me too.
Let's see, I still have a Spirit FF ballbearing & a 4-wheel drive / 4-wheel steer off-roader with some name like Phantom or something like that... and 2 fairly nice controllers. ;)

You'll quickly learn that it's all worthless now if you're considering racing. Though I did have a few pinion gears that were still useful, oh, and my old tackle/toolbox! :p That saved me at least $37
Razpewton 04-21-2004, 06:12 AM I think you have quite a talent there, Ike. I hope you are pursuing it...that's a great job.
moRotorMotor 04-21-2004, 12:58 PM Nice setup. What radio are you using?
HiTMaNN 04-21-2004, 01:11 PM wow this seems fun where do u guys buy these from ?
93rdcurrent 04-21-2004, 01:20 PM I was curious about one thing though Ike. Why did you choose to put STI colors on an RX-8?

You can always check out your local hobby store or if you want to see what the kind of goodies are out there, try here (http://www.towerhobbies.com)
I believe there are many racing events held in your area. You might want to go to one and just see what it's all about and the fun people have racing cars.
HiTMaNN 04-21-2004, 01:49 PM i went there but where do u find out where they are?

Well just look on the left hand side and go to "Cars and Trucks" or whatever field you are intersted in and go from there. I believe the car that Ike has is this one TC3 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2689&P=0)

I'm using the JR XS3 Synthesized radio, it's really nice to be able to turn a dial and have any frequency you want.
The car I have isn't the one that was linked to, I have the Factory Team not the Team TC3, it's a small step up and has a few more tuning goodies and anodized aluminum parts.
Thanks for the comliment Raz. Yes it's a Mazda 6, not an RX-8, the RX-8 isn't a very good body when it comes to racing but the Mazda 6 is one of the best.
93rd, not dissin on anything but myself and poor choice of colors and design...
Hitman, here's a better link for you, this is a shop that specializes in touring cars. Just click on race car kits on the left and browse through the different manufacturers.
