Anyone else have this problem? guy321 04-19-2004, 02:17 PM I watch cartoons and Anime, and stop to read to occasional comic book at the magazine rack. I play SOME video games but not alot.. Optitron 04-19-2004, 02:18 PM That's where I play Gameboy Meowloud 04-19-2004, 02:22 PM My favorite game is Diablo II (it would make my day if I could find an ethereal glorious axe!!). I collect McFarlane figures (the later ones haven't been so nice). I'm really good at MTG but I don't play online anymore. I love horror movies and own a PS2. I need valium if the cable modem goes out (j/k... but I would take it then if I had any!! LOL) Hello, my name is Jen and I'm a nerd. Optitron 04-19-2004, 02:27 PM Why couldn't I find a woman like that? guy321 04-19-2004, 02:28 PM Yeah, you got a twin? Optitron, lets clone her and mass market her to slashdot readers. Phew.... though I think I have more of an issue sitting in front of my PC! Not a gamer though I intend to atleast get my hands on Prince of Persia 2 and finish that. Maybe try Commandos 3..... I love cartoons!! Thats what I watch every friggin day in the evenings, Dragon Ball, DG Z, DG GT, Justice League, Teen Titans, Samurai Jack, Yu-gi-oh etc. etc. In fact my PC is scheduled to record all of these shows......Sigh...to be 7 again. No comic books unless I'm at B&N or Borders. Hi, my name is Jeff and I'm a mess. Meowloud 04-19-2004, 02:39 PM Whatever you cloned in that would come out smelling like cow dung  Winning_BlueRX8 04-19-2004, 02:42 PM I'll start the bidding. $50.17 My nerdy habits at 22 years of age: -Used to watch DBZ with my friends (Though we'd never tell anyone about it and we laughed at ourselves a lot for watching the show) -Used to play video games a lot when I was younger, now I stick to PC games. I'd play em more if there were any good games out right now...waiting for WoW. I guess that's all...I could have sworn there were more. I'll probably think of them when people start listing theirs. I used to play diablo2 a lot, but I grew tired of it. Thing is the game wasn't even that fun, but dayam I loved meph running (I'm sure Jen knows what that is). I was hooked...it's like gambling except you have nothing to lose but time. babylou 04-19-2004, 02:42 PM Originally posted by Optitron Why couldn't I find a woman like that? The way to go now is Baal runs, and at least my druid kicks some serious tail now :D EDIT: NO NO, wear your Star Trek shirt... you want to advertise to us nerdy women! guy321 04-19-2004, 02:45 PM The nerdy women he's looking for are all at home playing video games ! The star-trek t-shirt is a good way for him to advertise for like-minded women! I wore a shirt yesterday that says "mr Potatoe head picks his nose" and it had a Mr Potatoe head with his nose in hand. Dressing up like a GQ poster boy won't get nerdy girls ;) Originally posted by babylou My guess would be because you play with children's toys, read comic books and play video games when on the krapper. Kaliken 04-19-2004, 02:59 PM Now, I have to balance my video game playing with fun outdoor activities. But, when I was in college and it was freezing cold and snowing man I was hooked on Baldurs gate and Quake 2 and of course good old counterstrike! haha.. that ate up a lot of time in the dorms. but of course when the weather got good I went outside to play.. so i guess I am a harsh weather gamer.. Currently I just play PC games (now not much) I did play planetside for a while but that got repetative.. so I have been waiting for something good. namely WoW like WinningBlue said and the gameboy belongs in the bathroom. I guess that classifies me as a nerd... if it doesn't this will.. I majored in engineering. haha Winning_BlueRX8 04-19-2004, 03:20 PM Ah, Star Trek. I used to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager a lot. I even saw the TNG movies in theater. I hate the original series, deep space nine, and the newest version...I forget the name (Has the Quantum Leap guy). My favorite show is Smallville (Imagine that...a superhero show). I just bought Half-life last night so I could finally try this Counter-strike game I've heard so much about for the last half decade. I guess it's OK, but I don't see what all the fuss was about. Starsiege Tribes Shifter Mod was much more fun. I played that game for 2.5 years, which is about 2 years longer than I normally play any game. I get a boner when I read the latest video card reviews at tomshardware.com. I read these forums a lot. I read slashdot occasionally. I proofread my posts. I work in IT. Simpsons is the greatest show Ever. I giggle when I hear someone fart, or when I fart. From time to time I smell my feet. I had a subscription to Nintendo Power in Jr. High. I've still got some of the magazines in a box somewhere. I love science. I hate reading books, with the exception of science fiction and nonfiction. I think I'm beginning to stray off topic. Ike 04-19-2004, 07:47 PM Any DAOC players in the thread of nerds, I'll admit I wasted many many days of my life on that game and was GM of one of the top guilds on Percival, I also played a lot of Diablo II and made enough on Ebay selling stuff to buy the PC I'm using right now. I have a Playstation 2 that I never play (bought it in anticipation of GT4). I also just got back into racing RC cars, 2 grand later and my toy car is almost as fast as the fastest toy cars at my track :p I think the days of video games are for kids are long gone, Transformers and Comic books, I think you're still going to catch heat for those :) doccable 04-19-2004, 08:28 PM Originally posted by Optitron I'm 29 going on 10. I have a serious addiction to Warner Bros cartoons, watch the late night Sunday line-up on Cartoon Network, bought a PS2, (the kids thought I bought it for them- HA!). I also play a number of games on my PC's, mostly strategy-type... The Simpsons is the best show ever, along with its almost forgotten counterpart, Futurama - Season three is out on DVD!!! I watch Star Trek - most of the series', am anxiously waiting for the complete Rings set to arrive on DVD. I routinely drive very fast, and believe it or not - I have a paper route... I walk most of my papers, and drive a POS Escort to get to my route. It's safe to say that I won't grow up, anytime soon. :D -Doccable Winning_BlueRX8 04-19-2004, 11:19 PM Originally posted by IkeWRX Any DAOC players in the thread of nerds, I'll admit I wasted many many days of my life on that game and was GM of one of the top guilds on Percival, I also played a lot of Diablo II and made enough on Ebay selling stuff to buy the PC I'm using right now. I think we have a winner. D MENAC 7 04-19-2004, 11:41 PM Ok, I got most of you beat as the oldest kid...I'm 47, have a UV light modded window PC with an XP2800 CPU on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mother Board running 512 Corsair twin dual channel memory with an 80 Gig main ata HD and two 60 Gig SATA HDs, an ATI 9700 Pro video card and a DVD burner installed and it's all hooked up to my THX certified receiver and LCD native resolution of 1024 X 768 projector. I play PC games, played Diablo I & II and the expansion Lords of whatever, it's been a while...also played all of the FPS games from Half Life to Unreal Tournament 1, '03, '04, Gore, Serious Sam 1 and 2, Halo and cannot wait for Doom III or for Half Life 2 and am anticipating the soon arrival of Painkiller. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and that damned game Need for Speed Underground is the true reason I bought the RX-8 cause I loved the RX-7 sooooo much. I played NFS Underground 7 times through and still find it exhiliarating as hell. We have 5 people in our family, everyone has a window modded PC with their choice of colors. I built them all. My job is in Audio-Visual at a State University. This means now days that I work with computers, LCD projectors, 35MM film projectors just like your local movie theater uses, sound systems and much much more. I am known for gadgets. If it looks fun and is complicated, I am known to figure it out and get it and most times improve it. We have a PS2 and a Nintendo 64. I refuse to buy any other game consoles because of their short life, I can upgrade a computer for less and it usually plays most games, old and new so I do not have to buy new games each time something better comes out. Since I work in a University, I work with younger people and I stay abreast of current trends, though some of them I do not understand or agree with. My 15 and 17 year old sons listen to more conservative music than I do. I listen to current rock music such as POD, Seven Dust, Cold, Apartment 26, Adam Shift, etc. I still listen to the older stuff too but my radio station is tuned to the Progressive Rock station in my 8. I don't look like an older person trying to look young, I look my age, I just don't always act it. Toys...I got the JADA RX-8 remote control, I have bought an RC tank that shoots little plastic balls, the 4 wheeler, the mini cars and even a mini RC boat. I've played with rockets with my kids and going back to NFS Underground I always win against them when we compete. :D I refuse to grow up, but I am not going to look or act like Peter Pan. I have a P4 PC that I currently use for Battlefield 1942. I also have a PS2 that is mainly used to play Madden '04 online. My record is roughly 75 wins 30 losses (I haven't played in over a month so I'm not sure of my exact record.) Yes, I will take challenges from anyone in this forum and I must say that I will win!! :D Straight games only. My wife thinks I should have outgrown my video game "phase," but I just don't see that ever happening. I will be 60 and playing GT25! I used to collect comic books & baseball cards but don't anymore although I do still have my collections. Oh, and I just found a great new hobby.... spend all my money on my RX8!!! pelucidor 04-20-2004, 04:22 PM Originally posted by Optitron I'm 29 going on 10. I play video games alot. Same here, except I am almost 10 years older than you. I have 2 PCS and a laptop at home (one nicely upgraded PC just for games that I rarely use now, one basic machine for work and the laptop in the kitchen planning area for my wife to go web shopping on). I also have an XBox in the family room plugged into the Sony 57" TV with dolby 5.1 through Denon 3803 and B&W speakers. Nowadays I mostly play Xbox due to the big screen and am trying to get through Morrowwind, Prince of Persia, Dark Alliance II and Collin McRae Rally 4 at the same time. I only get to play a few hours a week so it takes me months to finish anything. BTW after a certain age (or when the playing screen got too big perhaps) I couldn't play FPSs anymore as I got dizzy - hope that doesn't happen to you. The Tivo predominantly records things like Justice League, XMen Evolution, Jackie Chan Adventures, Batman Beyond, Simpsons, Family guy etc (when they are on) and over 50% of my limited TV watching (as opposed to movies) is cartoons. I used to have a massive comic book collection (over 5000 going back to 1965) but lost them all. Still have autographed copies of things like Watchmen, and occasionally still buy the odd trade paperbacks (mostly anything set in the Ultimate universe for Marvel). The library also has over 1000 books, so I do read other things too... Genom 04-20-2004, 04:37 PM My woman gave me a Gamecube for X-mas last year, so you can tell she's understood the mess she's getting into. I've upgraded most of her family's computers from my spare part stash, and her nephews adore/hate me cause I'll game with tham, and beat them in some of the games (twitch stuff like Halo I get whupped, but BF1942 and UT2004 are my classrooms and they are my b*****s! :D). I spend way more than I should on silly toys and gadgets, and all that funky stuff. So yeah, similar situation. 31 now BTW. Man, I still have my NeoGeo (home console as well as portable color model). I do go over to the neighbors house sometimes and let him kill me at Halo on his X-Box.
