I will be adding that to my black RX8 within a couple of months. ranrx8 04-17-2004, 05:13 PM Wow looks nice!! Any chance you could post pictures of the car completely side on (ie the whole car) and from the back? IZoomZoomI 04-17-2004, 08:25 PM TINT TINT TINT !!! looks nice anyways :) bdeitemeyer 04-18-2004, 02:47 AM It looks great, good investment. COspringsRX8 04-18-2004, 12:15 PM does look really nice. that was my second choice of spoiler, i ended up going with a combat wing and it should be on by this friday. Ill post pics as soon as i get it on. cortc 04-18-2004, 09:05 PM Another shot... cortc 04-18-2004, 09:06 PM Real closeup... cortc 04-18-2004, 09:07 PM A side shot... mrtux 04-18-2004, 09:33 PM maybe i have to see it in person to get a real good view of how it blends in on the car...but does the silver/aluminum parts of the spoiler bother you? have you considered maybe getting it spray painted black? cortc 04-18-2004, 09:47 PM It really looks good in person, evryone who has seen it loves it... As far as the silver, I love it silver; really goes well with the black and all of the other silver accents on the car... whosyourbaba 04-18-2004, 09:49 PM cortc u have such a nice car. How much did u pay for spoiler? Awesome car WHealy 04-18-2004, 10:19 PM Sweet piece! cortc 04-19-2004, 09:55 AM Thanks, I paid around 775 + TAX... whosyourbaba 04-19-2004, 02:28 PM wow, where at? Cheapest place i found was 876 at trussville. cortc 04-19-2004, 02:31 PM The company I work for owns several Mazda dealerships, I get everything at cost... whosyourbaba 04-19-2004, 02:41 PM oo lucky u. Thats how u got all the MS parts. You have one awesome job then :). monte 04-20-2004, 12:01 AM THANK YOU!!!! I"VE BEEN WAITING FOR BLACK RX8 MS Spoiler pics!!! I'm ordering it VERY SOON. Questions: 1. why is it like a doubled up? it has the base part and then the spoiler.. just looks weird, don't you think? 2. is there any way i can get it for the same pric eyou did?! cortc 04-20-2004, 09:52 AM monte: Your welcome, The spoiler really looks nice, it is very well made and strong… I believe that the lower spoiler provides several functions and one of them is aerodynamic. The other is to cover up the upper wing support brackets and just finish up the install. I know that unlike other spoiler manufactures Mazda designed and tested this spoiler in an actual wind tunnel; the lower spoiler looks like it cleans up the laminar flow that would normally be very turbulent coming from the air that is directed under the wing and forced over the rear lip of the trunk... A far as pricing, I do not want to get into the parts business, so just use my price as a good indicator of how much the vendor is marking things up. I believe that in most circumstances they are entitled to some profit as they are providing a service and do have expenses, just don’t get ripped off… RolenImportsRX8 04-20-2004, 03:09 PM It looks great, but that's a lot of money for a wing that everyone else will have soon. Of course I would take one. cortc 04-20-2004, 03:31 PM Actually if you take into account the quality, the fact it was exclusively designed for the RX8 by the manufacturer to be functional, comes painted to match the car and is very light weight; then it is not a bad price at all... And the fact that it is a little pricey will make it somewhat exclusive. One other thing if you compare the rest of the Mazdaspeed body kit with the others available on the market; none comes close to the fit, finish and quality of the OEM kit… When you further consider that they come very nicely painted to match, the argument against becomes even weaker... But in the end it is always just a matter of taste, budget and opportunity… bureau13 04-20-2004, 05:01 PM I'm getting close to getting one of these (cars) and you've done exactly what I want to do. Actually, I MAY consider the MS side skirts as well...I'm just not sure about that yet. I'll probably do it in silver too. Great look though, I do love that spoiler. jds cortc 04-20-2004, 05:26 PM Thanks, bureau13... It is a great car and I highly recommend it to anyone... The only other thing that I will be adding this weekend are the front mud guards, I like the MS side skirts but did not want to bring the whole side of the car down visually... I am also in the process of designing some two piece splitter templates and am going to have them custom fabricated out of carbon-fiber, they will look something like the small black extensions found on the Mazdaspeed front bumper, understated but a nice detail... And finally the last detail to the exterior will be the 19” HRE 547r wheels… RolenImportsRX8 04-20-2004, 05:32 PM I have to admit it, I love it more and more. I have the exact 8 that you do, and I like it a lot. cortc 04-20-2004, 05:43 PM When I first got the RX8, I said no spoiler... Then as I saw more pictures of the Mazdaspeed spoiler it started to grow on me until I decided it looked very cool, must have... No regrets, everyone who has seen it goes out of their way to comment on how great it looks... ranrx8 04-20-2004, 07:45 PM wow it looks even better in the new pics you posted!! Gotta start saving for one of these!! rossle 04-22-2004, 05:32 AM hot dog im a big fan of that... ross kellybrf 04-23-2004, 02:35 AM man, i dont think that would look very good at all on my red, but the black looks excellent, congrats! i also think the grey would look tight cortc 04-23-2004, 08:46 AM One of the other guys here put it on their red car and it looks really nice... kellybrf 04-23-2004, 12:38 PM really, you know where pics are? id love to see it RX-Hawk 04-23-2004, 12:58 PM Originally posted by cortc I know that unlike other spoiler manufactures Mazda designed and tested this spoiler in an actual wind tunnel; the lower spoiler looks like it cleans up the laminar flow that would normally be very turbulent coming from the air that is directed under the wing and forced over the rear lip of the trunk... I am wondering has mazda posted any specs of such tests. And do they recommend that the wing be set in any particular setting for given driving conditions. Can the wing be rendered useless or even detrimental if set wrong? shimZ 04-23-2004, 01:29 PM that is a beautiful looking car!~..good job...Just don't do an overkill like most people on every forum "riceing" it out. It's funny because even though "riced" is associated with asians...they're are plenty on non asians that "jack" up the appearance of the car:) I seriously need meet someone with an rx8 in the northwest suburbs of chicago area....haven't had a chance yet. whosyourbaba 04-23-2004, 02:53 PM where u from shimz? I live in chicago. The idea of rice are mostly related to the civics which give us asians real bad image. I know many people who do it right without riceing which is just wrong. Also it does apply to others which i see do it a lot now after fast and furious. So asians arent the only ones, but we did kinda start it. cortc 04-23-2004, 05:10 PM Well as far as rice goes I agree, actually this is it with the car as far as exterior and interior additions go, well except for the HRE rims I have on order... Everything I did were things I believe should have just come on the car to finish it off... In regards to the spoiler, the instructions say how and when to set the spoiler, it has four settings... Neutral, which they recommend for stock cars, setting 2 (for cars with factory aero or Mazdaspeed kit, setting 3 (more down force for track...) and setting 4 (maximum down force for track...) The setting I have it on is 2 moderate down force for added stability at high speed and economy, since adding it is does feel more hunkered down past 75... flip 04-24-2004, 01:22 AM Originally posted by shimZ that is a beautiful looking car!~..good job...Just don't do an overkill like most people on every forum "riceing" it out. Thank you sable 04-25-2004, 07:28 PM finally found mazdamotorsports webpage that is mazdaspeed -- I was going to mazdaspeed.com before which takes you to japanparts.com and looking at the spoiler there which is different from yours. Looks like you can only order this spoiler if you are a registered racer with mazdamotorsports, which of course I am not -- not intend to ever be. I just want this spoiler but don't plan any other mods at all. Can you tell me what the part no. is and if I can order it from my local mazda dealer? thanks for the info and all the great pics. Ordered my black 8 without a spoiler just so I could locate "just" the right one and I think this is it! whosyourbaba 04-25-2004, 07:38 PM here you go. this is the cheapest place so far that i ever found. http://www.finishlineperformance.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?key=RX08MS1005&preadd=action I'm thinking of buying the carbon fiber replica of the MS. Looks nice and CF with black should be hot. Twin 8s! 05-01-2004, 10:57 AM Cortc - Adrain, We have bone stock 6MT Rx-8s. Cortc I like the looks of your spoiler. We are ... pretty conservative and so I have been looking at the Euro rear lip spoiler, but I think the bottom part of your system would also look good. Adrian, we live in FL so we are looking at Tint for both cars. Since we do not have NAV systems, I do not know of any real restrictions on the product used. Any recommendattions would be appreciated. You both have great looking cars. ShadowRotor 06-26-2011, 09:21 AM Hey, I'm looking for this spoiler but I can't find one anywhere. I found a cheap knock off but it didn't fit at all. Where can I find a MS spoiler?? JD-GT 06-26-2011, 10:21 AM Mazdatrix has them in a few colors, tho not all, and unpainted as well. They also pop up on eBay from time to time. scremn8 06-26-2011, 10:32 PM i was told mazdaspeed is no longer making that spoiler. you can find cheap knock offs but they wont fit the same monchie 06-27-2011, 02:44 AM Bump thread of 7 years of hibernation. |
