Does anyone know if the Efini Emblem requires hole-drilling or bumper-removal for installation? What kind of glue should I use if it doesn't come with adhesive or double-sided tape?
Thanks.
Thanks.

What kind of glue should I use if it doesn't come with adhesive or double-sided tape? Thanks. Senseny 04-16-2004, 10:48 AM The efini emblems have posts. You will need to drill holes. Atreyu 04-16-2004, 11:46 AM Then I better leave it nice and clean although I still feel that it 's missing something if the front doesn't carry a badge. Some back badges have only double-sided tapes. Can I use the back Efini instead to put it in front it that's the case? If I have to drill holes, do I have to take off the bumper and drill holes from the back to avoid damage/scratches or something? Thanks Atreyu 04-16-2004, 11:52 AM I just called the RX7 Store and they said I can simply cut the posts off and glue it on with silicone. The front Efini has 2 posts and the back has three and they are made of plastic so it wouldn't be too hard. Do you agree? Any other risks? Thanks. Senseny 04-17-2004, 10:31 AM That should work just fine. My emblem's posts went right into the existing holes, but we used silicone as well. How are you going to plug up your holes for the existing Mazda emblems? Show pics when done. Atreyu 04-18-2004, 09:34 PM I ordered an MS face and was planning to put on an Efini emblem. I'll probably just leave it without a badge since my brother said that someone may try to steal it using a key or knife and damage the bumper/paint, because I live in an urban area. I think is not worth it to have the bumper damaged. What do you think? It looks pretty good without it anyway. RXhusker 04-18-2004, 10:00 PM I left mine plain (for now anyway) -- have the Efini badges also -- haven't decided yet if I am going to put them on or not. Look much better than the huge Mazda emblem IMO. Atreyu 04-18-2004, 10:12 PM The Efini emblem looks real cool, and that's why someone may try to yank it out. Should I or should I not stick it on?? A real hard decision to make. Atreyu 04-20-2004, 02:09 PM How about putting it in the center behind the windshield and near the rotary contour of the hood? I think it'll look cool. What do you think? Wondering how I should stick it on though...glue or tape? Place it on the center grill mesh is another option, but someone can still yank it out and damage the mesh. BIU 04-20-2004, 05:36 PM Ok let me just start out by saying the Efini badge is really badass and looks real good....................... ON A RX-7! Dont you guys think its kinda ricey putting the Efini badge on the 8?.... its just like putting a Lexus badge on a Toyota Matrix? TxRx8 04-20-2004, 05:37 PM Any pics of the emblem on our cars? Isn't it just for Rx7's? Wouldn't it be rice if there's no "Efini" mods on your car. TxRx8 04-20-2004, 05:38 PM I think it would be kinda like "Type R" on a car that's not a Type R... you know? Senseny 04-20-2004, 05:47 PM I really wouldn't put it anywhere other than where the original emblem was. I won't put them on my 8 at all, I basically agree with BIU and TxRx8, but if you like it, go for it. Atreyu 04-20-2004, 05:59 PM I agree. Controversial and risky...guess I better leave it. But is it more discreet sticking it on the windshield, just like a rearview mirror decor? I thought an RX-8 would be much closer to an RX-7 than a Lexus to a Matrix tho. bureau13 04-21-2004, 12:02 PM I don't think Efini was RX-7 only. Didn't they use it on other JDM cars at the time? To be honest I don't think I've ever seen them on anything else, but I always sort of assumed it was on the same vintage Cosmo. The stock Mazda "upside down pringles guy" logo is pretty freakin' huge, but doens't the Efini (or any of the smaller, older Mazda badges) look a bit small there? jds Astor 04-21-2004, 12:20 PM As far as I know, the FD RX-7 sold in America did not have the Efini badges, they were the Brand name that Mazda used in Japan for several of their cars, not just the FD's. They discontinued use of the name in '98 and rebadged the RX-7's as Mazda's. They also have the brand name Eunos as in Eunos Roadster, (the Miata). I don't think anyone putting one on their 8 would be much different that one putting one on their American 7. ranger4277 04-21-2004, 01:03 PM It's a rotary. That is sufficient to qualify it as an Efini IMO, not to mention the 8 is Mazda's current flagship model. ZoomZoomH 04-21-2004, 01:18 PM i think badge engineering is just silly. B-Nez 04-21-2004, 03:02 PM How 'bout "Spirit R RX-8"? Someone is actually selling doorsills that say that...good grief. Atreyu 04-21-2004, 04:49 PM It's true the Mazda logo is so huge, and yeah it looks like an up-side-down pringle guy! The Efini emblem looks much more stylish. Since I will keep the Mazda and RX-8 badges in the back so there is actually no confusion of what it is. The Efini emblem has a rotary shape that resonate with other rotary accents on the 8, which is nice. I did hear that Mazda used the Efini emblem on other cars, especially in Japan because that's what Mazda means in Japan. Is the Efini big enough to cover the holes left by the Mazda logo in the back? I am wondering if it's lots of work to seal the holes if we were to replace it with an Efini? Can we do it ourselves and how? Gyro 04-21-2004, 05:35 PM some pics for this thread.. Efini on non RX7 cars.. http://www.246.ne.jp/~nobusan/mpv-emb.files/image002.jpg http://www.patriotauto.net/iwakuni/ms8.jpg http://www.ptmedia.ru/green/cars/MPV!!!!.jpg http://me.a-spec.ca:6001/Past/Piston/91EfiniMPV/30872a.JPG Efini emblem http://store2.yimg.com/I/rotorworks_1784_26588307 Atreyu 04-21-2004, 06:02 PM Wow, so Mazda uses Efini on other models! Are these all Mazda cars and what models? Debadging is so much work so I am debating if I should change the back emblem as well or just have the front one as Efini...just for style, since the MS bumper has no emblem anyways. silver04 04-21-2004, 07:29 PM picture of the Efini badge. http://www.rxecret7.com/jdmmazda.html momo stereo 06-13-2004, 09:18 PM Does anyone have a pic of the emblem on an 8 yet...post pics.. thanks j-apex rx 06-13-2004, 10:30 PM I had does Emblem on my 93 rx7 they look good on the car . but they are alot smaller then the rx8 Emblem.they are same size as the 90's Emblem. Japan8 06-14-2004, 11:37 AM Originally posted by Atreyu I did hear that Mazda used the Efini emblem on other cars, especially in Japan because that's what Mazda means in Japan. Uh, no. Mazda is not what is mean in Japanese. Mazda is actualy, MATSUDA... which is how all Japanese pronounce it. Matsuda is a last name. Whether or not that is where the name comes from, I wouldn't know. Never researched it. But what I said above is true. If I am not mistaken, the Enfini name was to be like Lexus or Infinity... Mazda's luxury brand name. However, it didn't work out... rx8spiritR 06-21-2004, 05:18 AM let me clear this out, Efini is the highest class in Mazda, like a Type R in honda, GTR in nissan, GTS in toyota....that was back in the early 90's. Efini become very popular on the FD3S, the early models in 1992-1998. in U.S, they're called R1/R2 as the highest model. then year 2002, the final production of the FD RX7, were called Spirit R, only 1500 were made and sold in Japan only. Then is the Spirit R miata non-turbo. as the zoom zoom campaign goes on, Spirit R become the highest symbol of class in Mazda. The Rx7 Spirit R badge were selling for $65 each, they are original Mazda parts, part number is F175-51-781. it's possible to get it from dealer. And yes, you can put a Efini emblem on the 8 and it'll look pure JDM with a little old school feeling. Japan8 06-21-2004, 08:45 AM I think the Efini symbol is ugly. But that's my opinion. If you like it put it on your car. If you like your car in pink, it's your car... do as you please. There was no need to "clear this out." No one was confused as to what anything is. Don't take a limited run of 1500 cars to mean anything in Japan. It's just a plain fact that japanese people will even tell you... Japanese like special limited edition stuff. Be it watches, Japan only CD's, cars, etc. It doesn't really have so much meaning. Yellow was limited to the first few production years for the S-wagon Sport 20... the dealer tried to rip me off just because the car I was looking at was yellow... so I bought the blue one instead. GTR in Nissan? That's only the Skyline. Nissan makes plenty of other sports cars besides it... like the Fairlady Z. No GTR in that name! GTS in Toyota? Same thing. rx8spiritR 06-22-2004, 04:03 AM alright........you got it. neofreak 06-22-2004, 01:51 PM Amanti was to be Mazda's luxury brand in the US. Efini - RX-7, MS-2 (miata), MS-7 (626), MS-9 (929) Eunos - roadster (miata), presso (mx3), 100 (323C) 300 (626) Autozam - az1, az3 (mx3), Revue (121) Clef (626) Savanna - RX-7 FC3S and SA22C (RX-3 was known as the Mazda Savanna GT) Infini - was Mazda's high end performance tuned versions, Infini I and II were modified Familias (323gtx) III and IV were FC3S. afaik there wasn't a Spirit-R Roadster. Japan8 06-22-2004, 05:15 PM Excellent! I had been wondering about a few of those myself... thanks for clearing it up for everyone. :D Astor 06-22-2004, 06:14 PM Now back to the question, does anyone have these on their 8, and if so, please post pics. IMO, the Mazda emblem is ugly, the Efini emblem looks much more esoteric like the 8 itself. rx8spiritR 06-26-2004, 02:24 AM information about the Miata Spirit R can be found at January's Option magazine. neofreak 06-29-2004, 07:42 PM Originally posted by rx8spiritR information about the Miata Spirit R can be found at January's Option magazine.
