not to be an arse, but isnt the weight off, or has mazda recently verified the 1300 kilo mark. just curious

No one outside of Mazda knows the true weight yet. Mazda posted on their USA web site that the base 6 spd weighed 3,011 lbs (1,366 kg) but promptly removed this data with a "TBD".

I think the 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs) reported by some magazines is wishful thinking. The actual weight is likely very close to 3,011 lbs (1,366 kg).

Of course we all would prefer the lower weight but in reality even at the higher weight the RX-8 is 10% lighter than any of its 2 door and 4 door competitors.

I think the weight is a bit off; it should be at around 1200 ends. I got the info from a car mag anyways.

Reading spec is nothing compared to driving the real thing (which I haven't done yet).
