ok, one of the major factors in whether or not i can afford the new 8 will be insurance. i would like to get an estimate as soon as possible so i can start stripping my car in time to trade it in come 8 time :)
my question is, how do i get an accurate estimate on a car that dosen't physically exist yet? what car is closest to this to compare to? are there any companies now that you know of who are giving rates out yet?
thanks

Government insurance here in Manitoba.
They work on a meret system. If you have 5 merets you have an excellent rating, and good insurance rates.
If you have merets removed your rates go up. So a RADAR/LASER detector is in order....to keep the rates down...LOL
It will be difficult to get a price on an RX-8 here in Manitoba, until one is actually here. But based on the fact that its 4 doors, with side and window curtain air bags, the price should be way better then a 350Z or a Celica,

thx Evolv,
i called up State Farm yesterday and they based it on the price of $40000. price wasn't that bad but i'm hoping for a little better once it actually comes out.
if you can afford to pay for the Celica GTS, the RX-8 shouldn't be too much of a problem.

What I find with insurance companies is that you keep phoning, talking to different people at a given company at different times and days and you will get a massive spectrum of quotes. I just keep phoning until I get one I like, get the agent's name and a quote reference number, then they can't go back on it. Currently I'm with Pilot insurance for my FC, and they were much lower than anything else I uncovered.
