I'm asking because I don't know. According to the stats, "Most Ever Online" at RX-8Club.com was 233 on 10-06-2003 at 03:22 PM. Did something serious happen on October 6 to draw everyone to the website, or was it a Cosmic Confluence with no clear cause?

I've wondered this too... and out of boredom, wondered if we can do an attendance post to notify when we should all get on at once to update that record? :p

(I live a sheltered life! ha ha)

yea that would be pretty cool if we could set up a time when everyone can come on so we can update that record.

Well, that was my one-year anniversary. So I wasn't included on that.

I believe that was about the time the HP figure reduction news was offcially released by Mazda.

That was the week I began the process of actually purchasing mine. I had it in hand 3 weeks later.

Nope - the HP reduction was announced August 22 or so. The deadline to choose the buy-back or free service + cash back was Oct 1.

Nope it was NAIAS that brought all those people here.

Along with the "bowanna's quest" section.

True, but if you remember there was a huge amount of nerves concerning people who had not gotten letters from Mazda by the deadline. Those people then tried to get their demand for a buyback letter in before the deadline, then Mazda sort of said as long as you were in the system it was OK, but who believed that. Anyway, it led to alot of people closely watching threads about calling Mazda and then seeing if they received confirmation letters. I also recall that there were alot of people taking delivery around then (including me), which always gets people going, and personally, it was kind of a slow day for me so I was just hanging around propping up the head count. It was also Yom Kippur, but I doubt if that has anything to do with it.

Yup, it was posted - browse the forum threads from around Aug 22 to 30, you should see several copies of it.

Haze,
You could well be right - there certainly was a lot of discussion about what choices people had made around that time frame.

Gordon

Is your Avatar an approximation of what you looked like that day? :)
