SiMplyBluE 04-03-2004, 05:14 PM Well, struck a deal over the phone with the dealer. Now its just the matter of putting a deposit first thing Monday, and then all the paperwork!!!! I have to wait atleast a week and its killing me already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JSE RX-8 04-03-2004, 06:56 PM good luck :)
Rev It Up 04-03-2004, 07:30 PM Many sleepless nights ahead i'm sure, but it will be worth the wait.

Man, I wish I had parents who'd give me a new car for my bday. Just leave lot of hints around the house, you know giant size pictures, singing the "Zoom Zoom" song etc. etc. Hope you get the color you want.

livitup 04-05-2004, 10:54 AM Guys, the wait is agonizing... I had to go two weeks before I could get mine. Worse, it was sitting in the dealership's lot with a big sold sign on it. It was taunting me. I'd stop by every day on my way home from work to drool on it.
Once you get it though, it will all be forgotten the first time you go for a drive. :)
SiMplyBluE 04-05-2004, 10:58 AM I'm crossing the days off the calendar!! Have almost planned for everything I need - financing, insurance, DMV run, lojack install & clear bra install. I'm going to try to get the dealership to have the work done for the oil pan, airbag and ECU flash TSBs before I pick up the car.
Jeff
PS: Its not helping that I see RX-8s on the road while I drive a crappy '92 camry!!
cruzdreamer 04-05-2004, 04:57 PM hang in there and good luck......try waiting 3 months or more!!! It's tough but it will happen for you soon I am sure!
antiver 04-05-2004, 05:26 PM i've been having *rg*sms over RX-8s since i saw my first velocity red on the today show around christmas time. tomorrow is the big do or die day for me... and i have fears that my parents might have gotten me a pontiac gto instead.. i know next to nothing about this car except that car and driver hates it... anyone else have any feelings on this car? (not to hijack the thread tho)

So whats the verdict?
JoeRX8ter 04-07-2004, 03:03 PM He must have got the 8 and he's out driving it. We won't hear from him for a week.

hey man, the 92 Camry is anything but crappy ! Got very high quality materials inside, rock solid reliability and the super smooth engine is from the last MR2 !
and yea, that's the same car that I drive now until I get my 8. Hahahhaha.....

Well, compared to the RX-8...... You know what I mean.
antiver 04-07-2004, 04:39 PM ... verdict is ... no 8 ... for a while at least. its kinda in the air. and i didn't post yesterday cause i was crying. grr.

But did ya get a car atleast?
SiMplyBluE 04-07-2004, 06:23 PM Can some clarify for me if I can buy the Mazda Extended Protection Plan say a week after I've purchased the vehicle? Or do I have to buy it while I'm purchasing the vehicle?
antiver 04-07-2004, 06:25 PM I already have a car.. its a 1985 Toyota Landcruiser... not a Land ROVER or anything, just a TOYOTA Landcruiser.
SiMplyBluE 04-08-2004, 04:48 PM Man, just went to my insurance agent, filled the paperwork and I found out that I won't get coverage till April 20th!!! Because its my first car under my name, I can't get coverage under my parent's policy!! This sux....so instead of getting the car this coming Tuesday, I've got to wait another week!!!! Will nothing go my way!!! Well atleast this gives me time to research some more on other stuff, like the Extended Protection Plan. Anyone have any idea how much a Mazda dealer would usually charge to install the MP3 player for me?
antiver 04-08-2004, 11:29 PM I've read about how some buyers have worked out deals with dealers to install say, a new rear spoiler and mp3 player for free if you purchased it though the dealership et cetera. If its not too late, you might look into that. Otherwise, who knows?!
SiMplyBluE 04-13-2004, 02:39 PM Well official word on installing accessories from Mazda -
"If you purchase the part through the Parts Department and install it yourself, it will be covered under the 12 month or 12,000 mile parts warranty. If you have it installed by the Service Department at a Mazda dealership it will be covered for the remainder of the 48 month or 50,000 mile factory warranty. If you chose to purchase the part and install it yourself and there is a concern with the part during the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty Mazda will give you a replacement part. However, Mazda will not pay to have it installed because you did not originally pay for installation through Mazda and we are not able to warranty your workmanship or the workmanship of an outside mechanic."
So I think I'm going to look into getting the alarm shock sensor upgrade and MP3 player installed by a Mazda dealership. Here's my list of things to do once I get my car -
1) Buy Mazda accessories - Alarm shock sensor upgrade, MP3 player kit, Aluminum brake pedal/foot rest/accelerator pedal and door sill plates, cargo net, rear door trim protectors, wheel locks, door edge guards and AT leather gearshift knob.
2) XPel clear bra installation
3) Grill for protecting oil coolers
4) Zaino :D
5) Car cover
Anything else I should add on to my list?
antiver 04-13-2004, 05:50 PM The X-Men RX-8 rear spoiler!!
( Some people love it, some people hate it, so don't get mad at me :P )
Here's some photos:

I don't know where you can buy it, but I did see it on one website to buy (but i wouldn't trust that site)
And this is kinda cool too:

SiMplyBluE 04-16-2004, 09:40 PM Ok, I decided that since I can't get my car till next week, I might as well check it out. The dealership was 135 miles away but the trip was well worth it!!! Here are few pictures I took -

SiMplyBluE 04-16-2004, 09:43 PM This kinda shows how much space the spare tire kit takes in the trunk!! Looks like its coming off in the winter for my snowboard.

SiMplyBluE 04-16-2004, 09:46 PM Ok, heres a question - Are the fender strakes like the ones in the picture? The reason I ask is because they look put on crooked.....

SiMplyBluE 04-16-2004, 09:49 PM One final one...

SiMplyBluE 04-16-2004, 09:57 PM Few other things I noticed -
1) Brake discs has oxidation on them. I asked the sales rep and he said they would take of it when detailing the car.
2) The oil cooler on the right was visible. But on the left there seemed to be some plastic cover with vents?? As you can see the car has fog lights. My understanding was that both the oil coolers are exposed because of the fog lights. So maybe I could get the dealership to put a plastic cover for the other oil cooler too?
3) Anything else I should check before I take my car? I already asked flashing the ECU but they might not do it, though as per the sales rep they'll check the car for all the TSBs I printed out for them.
SiMplyBluE 04-16-2004, 11:06 PM I just remembered that I should check the oil level before taking the car. I almost have my 8 guys n gals, .....almost.
antiver 04-17-2004, 12:21 PM mmm its beautiful in that light.. sexiest winning blue i've ever seen!and yeah.. i think ... silver things.. are on crooked, arent they supposed to be level?
