View Full Version : Tein Springs installed with Volks leegina 03-27-2004, 11:25 PM Here is my car with 19's and Tein Springs leegina 03-27-2004, 11:52 PM Here is a 3/4 shot. The rims are 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear with 245-35-19 front and 275-30-19 rear. With Tein S-tech springs cgrx 03-27-2004, 11:58 PM Looks sweet ! Can you still rotate your tires ?? leegina 03-28-2004, 12:00 AM Front leegina 03-28-2004, 12:00 AM No because of the different sizes! Omicron 03-28-2004, 12:01 AM Woh, veeeeeery nice! :D leegina 03-28-2004, 12:04 AM From the 3/4 rear leegina 03-28-2004, 12:05 AM Pictures look grainy because I had to severly shrink them with out any photo shop tools. Just downsizing using the computer. Sorry! leegina 03-28-2004, 12:06 AM Thanks OMICRON!!! Omicron 03-28-2004, 12:08 AM You bet! :D So, how long have you had them on now? I understand it takes them a few hundred miles to "settle" and the car will drop a bit. Also, even more importantly, how's it handle now? leegina 03-28-2004, 12:13 AM I have had them on about 2 weeks they seem to have settled alot. It handles great after the alignment! Before the alignment it was not as driver friendly. I went pretty aggessive on the alignment. I think they are autocross specs because I got them off of here and from threads on alignments that autox were using. I know I might have to replace my tires sooner with that but I do not really get to drive it that much because of work and transporting the little one between work and home the wife will not learn how to drive stick so we use the Mazda 6. leegina 03-28-2004, 12:13 AM Sorry about 3-400 hundred miles on them so far. leegina 03-28-2004, 12:17 AM I have added a rear lip spoiler since this pic! Omicron 03-28-2004, 12:21 AM So you have a Mazda 6 and an 8 also? Me too... so does prOber and a few others on this site. It's a good combo! ;) leegina 03-28-2004, 12:27 AM Very good Combo! Love the 6 even though it is a 4cyl. but I never really drive that fast. People at work call me Grandpa because I would never really drive my past cars fast. I have had 2 C5's, WRX, Porsche 944 Turbo (S), countless Z-28's and Mustang GT's but I do not like to really dog my cars just cruise them. I think the fastest I have had the 8 up to so far is 85. I hate tickets and especially traffic school so knock on wood it has been about 10 years since my last ticket. Omicron 03-28-2004, 12:47 AM You just jinxed yourself. ;) leegina 03-28-2004, 03:04 AM HA!HA! I hope not! mdw33333 03-28-2004, 07:55 AM Very nice Leegina, I'm really liking the the Teins. Omicron 03-28-2004, 05:06 PM Can anyone tell me exactly what the difference is between the Tein S-tech and H-tech springs? mdw33333 03-28-2004, 07:23 PM Originally posted by Omicron Can anyone tell me exactly what the difference is between the Tein S-tech and H-tech springs? If I'm not mistaken, the H-tech springs are more "ride quality oriented." Tein terms these springs as their "Luxury Master" springs. They also term the S-tech springs as their "Dress-up Master" springs. I have to assume that the S-tech springs are for people who prioritize "appearance first, ride quality second." leegina 03-28-2004, 07:33 PM H-tech will only lower the front 1 inch and the rear like something like .4 or something like that. They used to have the specs on their webpage but they took them down. Now they could of changed it all up and are only going to change the spring rates as mdw33333 said but I am not sure. I remember when I was searching the H-tech would only lower the front 1 inch. SDFLY 03-28-2004, 09:52 PM Looks very good Leegina, love that polished lip and the stance looks good too. leegina 03-29-2004, 12:15 AM Thanks!!! I love the lip. That is why I had to go staggered. FWIW, since Tein doesn't list a spring rate for RX-8 H Tech, I checked H Tech vs. S Tech for the FD RX-7 on Tein's site and the S Techs are notably stiffer. TownDrunk 03-29-2004, 05:11 PM Beautiful. Perfect spacing in the wells! Thanks for sharing. EXA4DRIVER 03-29-2004, 08:50 PM Another reason why to go staggered 19's! Beautiful car! Volk GT-7's are an awesome wheel! epitrochoid 03-29-2004, 09:09 PM well, what about the TEE PEE EMM ESS!? leegina 03-29-2004, 10:47 PM I covered the light. So I at least do not have that staring at me. And just a little note. People said that the car had to be driving before the TPMS light would come on and soon as I put the wheels on without moving the car it noticed that no TPMS sensors were in the wheels and I got the light. XcelR8 03-30-2004, 09:36 AM Looks good leegina. I just finished the install on my Tein S-tech spings this morning. So far after setting the car down then tightening up the upper control arm bolts, I have an 4.25" gap between the wheel well lip and the top of the rim on all 4 wheels! leegina...can you PM me the alignment specs you used or give me the tread? Thank you. SDFLY 03-30-2004, 03:37 PM Originally posted by leegina I covered the light. So I at least do not have that staring at me. And just a little note. Hey leegina, Did you attempt to re-install the tpms valve stems or just eliminate them altogether? I went for the re-install (after much deliberation and MikeB's experiences) and to date (1 wk) have yet to get the light...knock on wood. My understanding is that even aftermarket tpms valve stems can be purchased and installed into the new wheels/tires to eliminate this inconvienence. leegina 03-30-2004, 09:44 PM XcelR8 check your pm. SDFLY I did not want all the weights added to the wheels and they came already mounted and balanced so I did not want to take a chance on messing up the rims. The tape works wonders you cannot see it really at all. x28 03-31-2004, 01:18 AM But don't you get a bouncy effect if you just replace the spring and not the shocks itself. Since the shocks are designed for the orginal shocks, using aftermarket shocks will overwork the shocks and your car will have a bouncy effect in about three months. This is what I read from other threads in this forum. Just a heads up to potential buyers, cause I wanted to lower my car too! leegina 03-31-2004, 02:56 AM You will wear out your shocks sooner but not 3 months unless you seriously overwork them. I would guess they would go out closer to 2 years or maybe even longer. I have had alot of cars lowered with just springs and factory shocks/struts and within 2 years never felt that they were going bad. But ideally you would want to upgrade your shocks if you were to replace the springs but I felt money could be spent elsewhere because I have never encountered a problem. x28 03-31-2004, 03:08 AM I guess its differnet for different cars then. I have a friend of mine that owns an A4 Audi.. actualyl two of them. They modded them liek crazy, just for looks, and they car were extremely bouncy.... they looked kinda funny when they go over speed bumps... jsut my friends experience, that;s why I held my horses when I wanted to change springs. Maybe you are right leegina, maybe not, just to add to the forum =) Chieferx 03-31-2004, 12:12 PM by the way just ordered my teins and looking forward to see what they look like with stock wheels. Is there any pictures of this set up that I am getting. mdw33333 03-31-2004, 04:43 PM Originally posted by Chieferx by the way just ordered my teins and looking forward to see what they look like with stock wheels. Is there any pictures of this set up that I am getting. Who did you order your Teins from? Lucino 04-01-2004, 11:06 PM They look nice man, but that's about the biggest size i think you should go. 275 in da back, damn, this is all show no go man. leegina 04-02-2004, 10:37 AM Lucino, You know I thought the same thing when I was ordering them but honestly I cannot feel a difference. I think one of the reasons I cannot really feel that much of a difference is because the tire is a little shorter and I mean a little but it would affect the gearing just slightly and I think it offset the weight of the wheels a bit. I really cannot feel that it is sluggish at all. But I would have to agree with you it was more for show than go!!! SuPerHerO::tOnY 04-11-2004, 08:03 PM add a body kit to the 19s and tein springs and yu would have a hot car. i dont see the difference in the teins though. rx8miami 04-11-2004, 09:40 PM few questions for you. did you mess with the camber at all when you installe dthe teins or just alignment? i ordered the tein s's. that is why I ask. secondly did you realize it was gonna look so kick ass when you did the install? it looks awesome! the gap in the front and the back are perfect, please fill m ein as to what you did with the drop and the difference you hav ehad after th e 200 miles. leegina 04-12-2004, 04:16 PM Thanks rx8miami, I did a full alignment with camber, caster etc. pretty aggressive alignment I might say also. It rides nice and I was praying for it to look the way it did. It has settled a bit but not much. I love the teins and would only trade them for coilovers to get a little lower or spings that did the same effect but lowered it more. To me at certain angles it is hard to tell it is lowered. Thanks rx8miami 04-14-2004, 01:12 PM I just can't stop lookin |
