Anyone is planning on droping renesis with turbo, haltech and stuff into FC? :)

I wonder what the RX8 will do in the Torture Test, all the light weight of the car cant equal much crumple power, but then again their is alot of room for crumple so it might be good. its more of a question of the first real RX8 wreck. May it be none of us!

Don't look for a turbo version of the REnesis engine from Mazda roght out of the box. A LPT may show up before a 'traditional' turbocharged version does, but I wouldn't be holding my breath in the meantime. I suspect the aftermarket will give the engine the once-over. But the REnesis is sufficiently different to the 13B that I have a feeling the concept of a 'bolt-on' turbo from an FC or FD RX-7 from the local wrecking yard won't be the simple task some people may think.

Maybe sometime in the near future, Mazda will start producing turbo Rx-8's as well as N/A ones.

I would think that sometime down the road Mazda will offer a turbo like they did with the gen 2 RX7. I just think it will not be soon as Mazda seems to be working hard to make the RX8 a successful launch. IMHO they should use the KISS principle to start with and build from there.

The rotary got a bit of a black eye reliability wise with the 3rd gen RX7. Mazda needs this launch to go smooth to overcome some of John Q Public's relunctance to embrace rotaries.

At least with the internet, John Q public, with his AOL connection, will be able to type RX8 into a search engine and hopefully come up with some really great info about how the Renesis is vastly different than the 13BREW and hopefully make the mental connection as we did and be interested in purchasing one. Information isn't limited to your friends and inlaws anymore. Now people like bwob can be read by people like us, and John Q (checking out new rotary) public.

Less than 50% of Americans have computers with probable only half of them having a internet connection. Many of those with a internet connection will not bother to do any research.

A funny thing about human nature is that people are resistant to change. Even when people do not like the current situation they tend to defend that situation when presented with change. The rotary is change. It is different so many people will have a hard time embracing it. Given what I just said any stumble by Mazda out of the gate even if corrected early will cause people to shy away from the rotary and go with the familiar.

bwob is right, there is no way you will be bolting on any std single or twin turbo setup onto a Renesis engine. Besides there are much nicer turbo's around than the std Mazda ones.

That may be true that less tha 50% have an internet connection, but my bet would be that people who could possibly afford a car like this will almost certainly have the internet ;) And my guess is that if you are enough of a car lover to even know or be interested in the RX-8, you will go check it out on the net :)

The major trouble with the "Internet" as far as getting information from, is that it is very hard to tell the fact from the fiction sometimes.

Too many people think that they can get the same amount of knowledge from surfing the net as someone who actually opens the bonnet and works on the car.
