Does anyone know of a "reasonably" price SAE J2534 pass-thru device, out there anywhere?
Both Ford http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdirs/retail/default.asp?menuIndex=2
and Mazda http://www.mazdatechinfo.com/ will happily sell you the latest PCM updates online for about $30
But you need the "SAE J2534 pass-thru device" to put between your PC and the car.
They both have links to http://www.drewtech.com/
Which they have certified are working to upload thier updates, but the Drewtech interface is about $1600 w/cables.
I have the Autoxray EZ-Scan 6000 ($600), that I got specifically to read codes on my RX-8 and M6 CAN protocol. Which works great, by the way. It has what appears to be a ethernet connector on it, but they don't seem interested in programming it as a pass-thru device, for long term logging, or uploading.
This all doesn't seem like it should be all that complicated or expensive to me. Seems like bulk sales should already have something on the market.
