View Full Version : Chicago/NW Burbs Meet this weekend?
G8rboy 03-22-2004, 11:43 PM Calling all 8's in the Chicago area- we've been talking about getting together in the Schaumburg area as a central place when the weather gets better-well this weekend is it!
So the question is - Saturday the 27th or Sunday the 28th? Weather forecast has chance of rain on Sat, high around 56... and Sunday partly cloudy with a high of 62. What does everyone vote for? Does Schaumburg still work for everyone? (I'm flexible on location)...
Let's hear some ideas/feedback...
hmmm.. sounds good to me.. where in Schaumburg? and what time?

Someone mentioned one of the parking lots at the Woodfield mall... lots of parking places... And there are several places to grab lunch around there.
Early afternoon on either Saturday or Sunday works fine for me...
TitaniumRX8MD 03-23-2004, 03:47 AM Let's try and do it, the weather is supposed to be good
mkboy1313 03-23-2004, 09:30 AM That would be a great way to spend a Sunday. One of those days I have to install my rotary accents and splash guards, but i'll be sure to check the board and i'll be there if time permits, it's way too close to my place. Be nice someday if we could get a dealer such as Schaumburg Mazda down the street to sponsor a real meet!

Sounds great... maybe next month we can do something more formal with Schaumburg Mazda after we see what kind of interest there is.
Based on input so far- how does Sunday, 2pm sound?
mkboy1313 03-23-2004, 09:48 AM I'll vote yes to 2pm Sunday. Count me in! The south parkinglot along Golf Road opposite Borders/Starbucks might be a nice open spot near the road. Maybe right in that corner. I'll hit the lot tonight after work (i'm 2 min. away) and see what might be the best spot.
cruzdreamer 03-23-2004, 11:49 AM ok...I will try and make it. 2pm sounds fine.
TitaniumRX8MD 03-23-2004, 12:34 PM Sunday sounds good to me
mkboy1313 03-23-2004, 08:51 PM At Woodfield, there is a great spot just east of the Firestone across thestore along Golf, across the street from Borders. A great flat area that is empty even on weekends. That would be a great spot, just drove through it this evening.
MEGAREDS 03-23-2004, 09:25 PM Damn... won't be able to make it this weekend.
TitaniumRX8MD 03-23-2004, 10:33 PM So what' the head count for those going?
cruzdreamer 03-24-2004, 08:06 AM Talked to hubby......definitely going....you will meet my Silver baby, hubby and son too. See ya at 2pm.
BoxerGT2.5 03-24-2004, 11:39 PM I will make every attempt to be there Sun at 2. But if it's that nice out the golf course might be callin my name. hehe
TitaniumRX8MD 03-25-2004, 09:22 PM So guys did we decide exactly where we will meet near Woodfield Mall @ 2pm?

Crap- just saw that on weather.com- Saturday looks like a much safer bet for decent weather.
So, can everyone make it on Saturday afternoon instead?
TitaniumRX8MD 03-25-2004, 10:01 PM I can do Saturday. I hope everyone else can. Calling all Illinois 8's

vel525 03-27-2004, 09:41 PM guys it was good meeting you all. hopefully next time we can get more 8's to come out and more 7's!! we should try to set up another meet once the weather gets a little better.
MichRX7 03-27-2004, 10:16 PM How many 8's made it out?
Anyone take some pics?
TitaniumRX8MD 03-27-2004, 10:54 PM Yeah it was nice meeting all of you guys and Wendy. Definately we should do this again when weather gets warmer and before I move to Michigan.
TitaniumRX8MD 03-27-2004, 11:02 PM Cruzdreamer took some pics, maybe she can post them when she gets a chance. Plus Wendy I hope you get your 8 real soon. Definately, looking forward to seeing your 8 at the next meet. Also by the way, I can't get free registration for revolution because I originally purchased my Stage 1 in December and not during the special. Too bad because the ones who drove my car at this meet said they did feel a difference to their stock 8. Would of been nice to represent the Stage 1 at the revolution

Merciless 03-27-2004, 11:33 PM yup.....nice to drive your car man...thanks for the RIDE
mkboy1313 03-27-2004, 11:44 PM Man I wish I could have made it today, even installed my splash guards this morning, but some drama got in the way, so I'll have to wait until the next time!
G8rboy 03-28-2004, 02:13 AM Thanks for coming out everyone that could make it... it was great meeting you guys finally. Unfortunately I want to spend more money now thanks to you Borla guys, dammit! I think Wendy got the best pics, but here's a couple I took in a hurry of our 8's and two killer FD's.
G8rboy 03-28-2004, 02:14 AM and the 7's....

Merciless 03-28-2004, 09:22 PM just curious, anyone of you gotten pulled over for no front plates? :D
TitaniumRX8MD 03-28-2004, 09:56 PM Luckily no, the cops downtown are pretty cool. There are a lot of nice cars downtown that don't have the front plate. But on the other hand my girlfriends roomate got a ticket for no front plate but her car was parked and the cops there were looking to give out parking tickets
BoxerGT2.5 03-28-2004, 10:21 PM I haven't gotten nailed for no front plate.
G8rboy 03-28-2004, 10:53 PM Nor have I, yet. The cops in my area don't seem to mind- they're always staring at my car- I'm sure they've noticed by now. I've started paying more attention to other cars running plateless lately- there aren't too many, but very common among the Vettes, Miata's, S2000's, Trans-ams, RX7's, etc.
