View Full Version : AutoArt Mazda RX-8 models
miata35 02-03-2003, 02:52 PM AutoArt will produce 1/18 scale Mazda Rx-8's to be released around the time the car begins production. The car will come in red and yellow, LHD or RHD. The interior is handpainted and fully carpeted, with working doors, trunk, hood, and steering. They will cost upwards of 55 bucks. I preordered mine at www.mad4models.com. Here are some pics of some other autoart models to show the great detail done by the manufacturer.

My experience with every AutoArt model that I have seen or owned is that they are of absolutely fantastic quality and detailing.
Strider 02-03-2003, 10:30 PM What's the price going to be (estimate)? I'm in if the price is reasonable.
Strider-
Renesis08 02-03-2003, 11:15 PM Hopefully less than $30.

U'know guys, they'll probably be worth it.
FamilyGuy 02-04-2003, 10:56 AM Alright! An Rx-8 I can afford!
:D
Mazda man 02-04-2003, 12:11 PM Alright! An Rx-8 I can afford!
That's what I was thinking too!
miata35 02-04-2003, 01:46 PM AutoArt models sell for a lot more than other models because of the quality and attention to detail. The 350Z is 60 bucks, so the rx-8 will be comparable to that.
chinx 04-15-2003, 12:54 PM yeah but these autoart models are the BEST models you can buy ANYWHERE for $60. it's likely to have real carpeting, all the doors open, all the markings/decals done in absolute detail, antenna (but the 8 doens't have antenna, so...), maybe even working suspension, the whole nine yards. and 1/18 scales are big. these models are AWESOME. i can't wait...closest thing to a real rx-8 for me...for now
fyi some of the future 1/18 release by them include toyota 2000gt, lotus esprit v8, e30 m3, various corvettes, '71 mustang mach 1, the original countach. makes me want to go crazy buy them all. geez
if we're gonna do a group buy on the 8 model, i'd be interested. it should be out in a few months, hopefully
RX-Nut 04-15-2003, 01:14 PM miata35.. any new news on these?

RotorGeek 04-15-2003, 03:29 PM I sent them an email requesting info. This is the response i got
"Many thanks for your e-mail.
There will be 1/18 scale models of the Mazda RX-8 available from Autoart sometime during 2003. They have not set an official release date as yet but I would think it will be later in the year.
The model will be available in either Red or Yellow.
It will be very highly detailed and will feature opening doors, boot and bonnet. I am not sure as yet if the rear doors will open on the model.
The price of the model will be $69.99 plus postage.
Please let me know by return if you would like to pre-order this model."
chinx 04-15-2003, 09:24 PM autoart told me the models are estimated to be due out in june...so i'm guessing july or august =P
and they also said the price is 64.95 directly from them, sent me an order form, and didn't answer my question whether more colors will be available later. so we can get'em in about 3 months for ~50 bucks in stores...i guess roughly around the time the real 8's start hitting the streets
miata2rx8 04-16-2003, 09:13 PM Hopefully you'll have better luck in preorder than those of us with the real RX8! Looks like a cool model though...
