View Full Version : RX8!............Corvette!!
TekkamanX5 02-02-2003, 06:36 PM For about 5 years I've been researching the RX8. From the RX-Evolve all the way to the recent LA auto show appearence. I've told my dad i wanted an RX8. Knowing him i thought he would say no because he's a domesticks guy, but he said he liked the RX8 and he'd be glad to have it in the garage. It was only till the middle of summer when my dad gave me his 1987 Corvette when everything took a turn for the good and bad. I started to became interested in Corvettes and became a fan of the new C5's, but I knew those were out of my league. A little while after, my dad caught me watching C5 videos on my computer and said "forget about the RX8, lets get another Corvette." Now how is a person supposed to say no to that? I said yes of course but i thought he was just being sarcastic. But a couple months later, low-n-behole..... me and my dad found a perfect C5. Yellow, highly polished wheels, magnetic selective ride control, low-jack, HUD (head up display), 12 disc CD changer, indash CD player, 50th annaversary, and a transparent top, it was fully loaded. So I fell into mezmorization and told my dad to get it with out thinking of my favorite car; the RX8. Im very happy with it, it's a Corvette!, you can cruze anywhere and you don't have to prove anything. But at the recent LA Auto show I finaly saw the the RX8. I was so excited, I sat inside it, closed the doors, opened the doors, pressed every button, opened the hood, etc. I started to realized that I didn't want to leave this beautiful machine of Mazda behind. I wish i could have both of them. Maybe someday I will, but im still here. Im gonna stick around with you fellow RX8 drivers or fans so don't LEAVE me behind.
cueball 02-02-2003, 07:02 PM If you are inferring that just because you don't have an RX-8 you will not be accepted, than you should have nothing to worry about. If you consider the fact that as of right now no one has an RX8 and we a pretty tight nit community. Many of us (including me) don't currently have the money for an RX8, but we don't have anything to worry about. This is not a place where you get flamed for having or not having a certain type of car. As long as you don't go around saying that imports suck, etc. you should be fine. Enjoy your vette and maybe someday you will get into a RX-8, but until then enjoy the forum.
Krayzie8 07-24-2004, 09:16 PM ill trade ya, id rather have a corvette :-/
red_rx8_red_int 07-24-2004, 11:18 PM This is why the 350z vrs. RX8 comparisions are so lame. If I didn't need the back seats of the RX-8, it's Corvette all the way. I could afford either one, I chose the 8 for the practicality. If you don't need the rear seat, screw the 350z, go with a Vette, even if its used, much more bang for the buck. Don't feel bad the vette and the 8 are both excellant cars for what you get, it all depends on what you need. No back seat, get a Vette, need to seat 4 in a crunch, get an sti, need to seat 4 comfortably get an 8. Thier all awesome cars!
GotBass 07-25-2004, 10:26 AM The Vette has always been my favorite car. But its at least 15-20k more than the RX depending on which model. The RX is also a lot more practical and MUCH cheaper to insure for the under 25 crowd.
There are so many cars I would love to own right now. The vette would be great, but I would need a second ride. If I could afford any daily driver I would have an M3. Bottom line is the RX-8 is practical year round, fits in my budget, and is still a heck of a lot of fun to drive. Thats why I own one.
VeilsideRX-8 07-25-2004, 01:56 PM Im only 18, I could of possibly got a C5 Corvette, which was one of the cars I was looking at but I chose the 8 for only two reasons, and that was because there isnt anything else that looks like it and not a lot of people driving it. I mean when I see a corvette on the road esp. the C5, no offense, it's just another corvette. Corvettes are nice don't get me wrong, but 20 plus grand to get one depending on the model, to get "just another corvette" is crazy. Plus INSURANCE, thats what screwed me over on a lot of cars, 350z, STi, Evo, A4, M3, S2000, M. GT, but oh well I got a nice car and I'm happy.
carnut 07-25-2004, 08:26 PM I love my 8, but I would love a C5 (especially a Z06) or an upcoming C6. I would have great fun with a Vette, I'm sure!
Butch Brown 07-25-2004, 09:03 PM I live where there are country roads hills and turns. Drove a Vette, when I came to crest hills I had to slow to a crawl, couldn't see over the long hood, it did well on curves but it's no roadster, should be kept on the highway. MY 8 handles all situations, lighter, more agile and handles curves better. It is just as good on the open highway as the Vette also. The Vette has one advantage if you waht to conserve on fuel. I usually get 20-22 mpg. Got 24 mpg 1 time when held at 70 mph on the highway.
Architech 10-30-2004, 09:51 AM Get an Rx-8 or get the hell out of our club, RX-8's rule the road! No other car can beat it in appearance, I would like a lambo Murciallago... But no RX-8's are the be-all end-all of cars! (JK)
TODreamer 10-30-2004, 10:00 AM Love being on this board.....Why? Members on this board seem to live this life that just seems so UNREAL and OUTRAGEOUS.
If my pops said to me.... "yeah son... the RX8 is great lets get it"...... and then go " you know what son... fuck the 8... lets get a vette".... I'd have to call either a damn good psychiatrist or the pope himself from the vatican, because he'd either be crazy or possesed. LOL
BlueEyes 10-30-2004, 11:08 AM well, your dad seems insane, so you should ask him for an 8 too.
This was a lame thread the first time around, then still lame after it was brought back from the dead for no reason, now the the third time... Boy, what a great thread!
Icemastr 10-30-2004, 02:54 PM Im with Ike, back from the dead not once but twice on a retarded topic. You can purchase a used C5 in the 20K range, I was considering it except its just not my style, young kid driving a corvette people would think I was out joy riding in my dad's car or using my dads money so LS1 conversion on another car bwaha.
Icemastr 10-30-2004, 03:37 PM Just because you post in a retarded topic doesn't mean you are retarded.
My wife has both the RX8 and a C5 Vette. There both nice cars, very different. The C5 is a thug, a brut, it will cover some ground pretty quick. It does every thing well, and amazingly gets 32 mpg on a highway trip. The RX8 is light, nimble, a little easier to throw into a corner. A easier car to drive. We did a best of 25 mpg on a trip. Both cars are fun to drive! If you lined both cars up on any road, the C5 would run away and disappear pretty quick!!!
