Talking Got my 8 last night :)

ZOOM!

Ok well, there was some zooming and some normal driving and a lot of getting the feel for driving a stick again. It's been 7 years now since I drove one on a regular basis and it's like learning all over again because the clutch on this car is very sensitive, but beyond that, I love this car!

I paid exactly invoice for my car and had no hassle with the dealership. I'll send anyone in the DFW area to this dealer any day of the week. They were absolutely awesome! They got everything I asked for and charged me nothing to put the Mp3 player in and take out the 6 disc.

Anyway, here's what I got:
6 MT GTP
Titanium Grey w/black leather
Spoiler
Appearance Package
Rotary Accent Package
MP3 Player

At invoice.. so nice.. so fun..

So many people have pulled up to race me.. I just wave at them and laugh as they zip off.. it's a feloney to drag race in tx now so.. i won't be doin any of that unless it's on a track.

Wow.. so much fun!

for some reason though, I now have the urge to ask lots of questions that I could easily get the answers to by searching... hrmm..

Just don't start all new threads for your questions. This thread here is all yours though, so do what you want with it :D

I really don't have many questions that I know the answers aren't already out there for. I couldn't find one of the threads I was reading the other day so I'll ask it here:
On the MT, how far from the floor should my clutch disengage? I literally have to let the clutch out nearly half way to disengage and get into gear. I just feel like that's a little long.

I was kind of wondering about the clutch release thing myself. This is my first MT car, and I've had mine for about a month now. I'm still having some trouble starting in 1st. Once in awhile I get it perfect, but usually I get the jerking or I screech the tires. I can shift through the rest pretty smoothly though.

Wheel hop (screeching the tires and the DSC/TCS light coming on) is usually caused by letting the clutch out too fast while giving too much gas.. I did that a lot my first day too and I still do it every so often.

The only problem I seem to have with first is when I come to a light and there's someone behind me on a hill. I'm just not real comfortable w/the whole role backwards thing. If i get to the light and it changes, I don't get a chance to get into first before hand and prepare. That's usually the only time I'll kill the car..

This is also my first MT car and I basically learned how to drive manual on a 350Z and a trans am, both of which had very different clutches from this car. My brother said it was pretty crazy how different it was from the clutch on his cooper S. The freeze point is just so far back it's deceiving.

If full throw (clutch to the floor) is 100%, then the freeze point is like 45-40% or so. I'd expect it to be at like 70%. Then again, who knows?
I dunno. It takes time I guess.

About an inch from the floor starts solid engagement.

For the starts on hills, use the ebrake till you're more comfortable.

BTW, just to keep the language consistent for the MT newbies...pressing the clutch down disengages it. Releasing/lifting your foot off the clutch engages it. The normal status of the clutch (foot off the pedal) is engaged.
