The new car fever wore off in household after my rx8 purchase last month. The fine lady and I were taking her 2002 Nissan Xterra in for service (recall, oil change, tire rotation and balance, and inspection). We dropped it off, and the new car fever just kicked in. I looked up Kelly BB trade in on her SUV, built a brand new one that was automatic (not 5 speed like one she has), and has tons more features. I pulled some rank and told her, that this is a good time to trade, and treat yourself to a higher end model. The key was for monthly payments to not exceed $50 more per month. It was a long shot, but I figured it can't hurt to try. After getting vehicle serviced, we walked over to dealer showroom. We sat down and basically showed then a copy of the xterra we built on internet, and said, we wanted to see if we could get that exact model, and with trade in have payments be similiar. The first quote came out to over $100 more per month, so we said, well thanks for trying. Of course, we weren't wheeling and dealing, and we had nothing to lose becuase it made no differece to us. So the number kept dropping and dropping. We told them flat out, payment needs to be no more then $50 then what it is now. She still owed 12650 on the 2002, and msrp was 24870 of the new one. Finally, they buckled. They gave her $1000 over KBB trade in, took 1500 off msrp, and gave her a fixed rate of 0.9% financing. Basically she got the car finance free. :) I looked it over to make sure this was legit, and it was. I then told them that if they throw in an auto dimming mirror, and rear window vents to make up for the $125 we just spent getting car serviced, we have a deal. They said ok, and the new 2004 xterra arrives in 3 days. All in all it was a great day, and it makes my deal on RX8 look petty. lol Just wanted to share the good news, and thanks for reading. :)
