Minute by minute of shuttle reentry (http://www.spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts107/status.html)

I don't know really what to say, other than it is hard to believe another shuttle has been lost. It's especially awful because the first Israeli astronaut was onboard. Unbelieveable. I wonder how this affects our situation with Iraq?

My thoughts go out to the families of the crew members.

Unbelievable tragedy... We heard about it at a Walmart in Colorado Springs a few hours ago. It brings back the same feeling of emptiness that the Challenger disaster caused.

I remember hearing about the Challenger disaster in a stairwell in high school and it was hard to believe until actually seeing it explode on TV.

Condolences to the families that were affected by this...

Many of us take space flight for granted. We forget that these brave people are taking a huge risk for their contries. If any good can come out of this awful tradgedy, hopefully we will find new respect for these brave people.:(

I am a huge NASA buff. One of my life goals was to watch a shuttle liftoff, which I acomplished this last October (STS-112). If you saw my office you would ask, why I have so many Space Shuttle models around. I am so sad today. One of the bonuses of living in Texas is that we have Johson Space Center (Houston). And you get to see the plasma trail on re-entry on some of the landing approches. But today, today is just...... the worst. :( :( :(

What I don't understand is that they call this a disaster...it is just an accident. Plane crashes are small disasters; a lot of people get killed in such an accident. In the space shuttle 'only' 7. Just like in a car accident..

Losing a shuttle is like losing a piece of America. In some ways the shuttle represents us so it dieing is like part of us dieing.
