That's not a north side meeting! A northside meeting would be off of F.M. 1960 or in the Woodlands. You are planning a central Houston meeting.

heh.. point taken..

of course the counter-point is inbound traffic will always be easier to fight than outbound traffic... and outbound traffic on I45 N and US59 N is a bear at those hours, or heck even on the weekends.

note #2. based on a poll of active club members this is a fairly northern location of town. I don't know of too many active members off of the 1960 area.

:) if we have a 1960 meeting it will have to be held at 9 PM just so the southside people can get there. :P your traffic up there sucks too much.

FWIW .. all regular (monthly) meetings will be held near (within 3 miles) the 610 loop area for easier access to all parties.

As we all know inbound traffic is MUCH easier to deal with in Houston than outbound traffic (at least in the early evenings)

Add me to the 1960 crew. I plan on taking the long trek down to the loop the 6th. I just got a new 8meg camera to replace the 5meg I had and I'm dying to test it out. We should be able to take some nice shots of all the rides.

Hey does anybody here have a Red top-of-the-line RX 8 in Kingwood? I saw a Red leather RX 8 next to the Starbucks in the back of Kingwood! Wondering if it was anybody on this forum, or just a driver unoticing of his cars coolness

We have confirmed a special gust for Tuesday's meeting: (Please do not forget to RSVP, seating may be limited)

Dan Harrison owner and developer of Harrison R&D (and RX-8 owner) will be at our meeting demonstrating his latest OBD-II scan device.

The Controller Area Network (CAN) interface is the newest and fastest OBD-II protocol. It can run at 500k bps, compared to most older OBD-II protocols running at 10.4K bps. However, not all of this bandwidth is available for the diagnostic service. The CAN bus is used to network many systems on the car, from the engine management, to transmission controller, to entertainment systems to body controllers and more. This makes the bus very heavily utilized and requires more complex software than the older systems. The Harrison R&D CANScan™ is capable of operating on any CAN equipped vehicle which meets the OBD-II specifications for CAN bus communications.

View real-time sensor data graphically
Log real time sensor data
Read Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Read Freeze Frame Data
Clear the Check Engine Light
View OBD-II readiness monitors

Currently the tool works with several late model (2003 or later) vehicles such as the Ford Powerstroke 6.0L Diesels, Ford Thunderbirds, Saturn Ion, Mazda 6 and RX-8, Volvo S40, Nissan 350Z, Infinity G35 and more.

I'll be tagging along with Dan Harrison, the dude whose demonstrating the CAN/RX-8 compatible OBD II scan tool. It's pretty cool. Dan builds the hardware and wrote the Windows code and I wrote the Palm code.

See you there.

I just read about the meeting tonight. (New to the RX-8 club forum) I'll try to make it, but I have some committments to move around and it's a long way back into town.

Something near 1960 would definitly be easier for me. Especially if it were close to 290 or up by Willowbrook. I get a ton of stares and looks and ooos and ahhhs when I take the kids to Mountasia, even had a guy in a dualy holler through the sunroof, "Now that's a nice car!".

Might be cool to fill up the lot at Sweet Tomatoes with rotary power.

In any case, I have a few shots oveer in the "Show & Shine" forum. I the one with the messy garage.

So is it still on if the weather turns nasty later this afternoon?

I was just looking out my window on the 14th floor downtown and was kinda having second thoughts as well. I was also thinking I have been working all day and it is time to go home because it is so dark. Weather channel says the heavy stuff is supposed to clear up a bit later today.

I'll still try to make it if the weather clears up just a little....

I was looking forward to coming out tonight. I will still come if there is only rain but words like Hail and Tornado will keep my car in the garage. I hope someone will post weather conditions in North Houston closer to decision time.

I'd have to say I'm on the fence too... Not just weather, but the traffic because of the weather will be even more fun.

Hi everyone! I am semi new to the rx8club forum, and I read something earlier about active members. Do you have to belong to an organization to go to the meeting tonight?

Well, the weather changed one of the things I was trying to get shuffled around so I could come. I guess maybe next time, now that I have found the forum.

I'm out too - the weather mucked up a few of my plans, and on top of that I've got 40 people coming in for Easter, so unfortunately there's still much to be done around here.
