Folks

Its high time we got together for a Sydney Drive Day.

May I be so bold as to suggest a April 9th?

Do I have a seconder?

Ageo

isnt that a friday?

why not a weekend?

Im cool for friday day thow.

Hmm i should be able to come to :)

playa78
03-14-2004, 08:29 PM
would it be in the evening if it's a Friday??
should be fun but working during the day =(

playa78
03-14-2004, 08:30 PM
btw, it would be a first of any kind of club meeting for me =D
can't wait to see other fellow rx-8ers in action

Ageo
03-14-2004, 08:34 PM
Same playa78 1st time for me too. But nights is no good for me, plus you want to see the cars in action in daylight (looks much better).

I reckon if we get 10-20 that would be awsome. There is a guy down the road from me in Wetherill Park (i think its DMRH) a shop rotor master where the other day they had 10 Rx8's at the front.

playa78
03-14-2004, 08:43 PM
it will have to be on weekend I guess.. makes it easier for everyone to meet during the day time.
should be awesome to have 10+ RX-8s driving together.
it would be like a massive free advertising for mazda, i reckon they should sponsor our petrol etc, haha ;)

Ageo
03-14-2004, 11:40 PM
I reckon they should too, any1 have any contacts in mazda for sponsoring our drive? I think it would be massive advertising and too think if we only influenced 1 person on the day to see our pack and buy a RX8, im pretty sure that will cover the cost of our petrol bill plus make a nice profit which they wouldnt of had.:p

Folks

I picked the 9th coz its Good Friday!!

Public Holiday should release all of us (after church at least) to have some fun. Shops closed, no kids sport = freedom!

Come on Sydneysiders!!

Choppy
03-15-2004, 02:44 PM
Seeing a cruiz with too many Rx8s would put me off buying one cause to many people have one already :)

Phillip

argh.. some poor buggers like me have to work on the day to pay off the car =(
well, see what happens anyway.
choppy, it's not about how others love the car. it's about how u love the car hehehe =D

Ageo

Pricer count me in. I think we should take after Hymee's place each having if they can UHF handheld radio's. Also the itinerary of the drive.

Choppy when i seen the group of mini cooper S's in Canberra a month ago it made me think of getting 1 in the future.

"each to their own i say";)

Ive already started thinking of drive itinerary but we can discuss prefs later on. But some more numbers would help!! Come on guys .....

I may be in Sydney around that date , as i am going to Wakefield , and then spending some time with Emack so if i am still there on the 9th id be happy to join you guys .

After Sydney i am going down to Melbourne , partly bussiness and family reunion .

So if anyone has the time you can join me on a Melbourne trip .

I should put at least 5000km on my car , i know its hard , hey but someone has to do it.

After my Sydney , Melbourne trip i will rest up for a month back home on the Gold coast and then head up towards Cairns around end of May- June .

I must be part Gipsy or Aboriginal as i enjoy my Walk/drive abouts.

cheers

great idea! should be able to make it.

8A8Y 8 (Philip) and i had a mini drive from city to brighton to bondi then the KK @ liverpool last saturday night.

08/04/04..... its double demerit point weekend isnt?

a good "day" (although it would be cooler to drive at night) drive to central coast/the entrance would be good and while we are there, gotta stop and get some seafood.... :D

i have a handheld radio, and they are most helpful most of the times (ie. not good for mountain drive)

eric

Ageo
03-16-2004, 06:16 AM
Double Demerits lol whos going to be needing those :p

But im up for the sound of seafood, only problem is ill be too full to drive back lol.

03-20-2004, 01:13 AM
so.... is there a set date/time/meeting point? and most importantly...... who is coming?

how about a saturday mid afternmon cruise, say... 17th April (which is a week later than initially planned) to avoid that double demerit weekend thingy...... or sunday the 18th should be good too.

I thought sticking to Good friday would make more people available .. no sport, not many need to work etc etc

I'll be definite for the 9th!!but of course this is a democracy

Ageo

Me too choppy. Usually on Good Friday we have matches but put me down anywayz.

Pricer get the plan drawn (since your organising it). I reckon cruising through places like bondi, george st and other (people) places. UHF handheld radios has to be a must unless you want to end up by yourself.

Ok Every1 that is interested or is going list your name down that way we can get a good idea. I will speak to a few others guys to get them along to it aswell (8 owners). The record is i think 8, which was Hymee's trip. Lets have 10 plus.

Ric your most welcome to join the pack.

Philip - day cruise is good as you can see all the 8's coming from a mile away.

Pricer what times man we going to hit this off? i have a lunch in the day as i think alot of people will to (family) throw some times that way we can organise a suitable 1 for every1.

maybe we can do a mid-late afternoon cruise, so we get the best of "day" & "night" cruise...

won't be able to make it guys, thanks for the invite though...
don't have the 8, and will be away. Until the Pug gets sold privately (which is tough considering we're away the next few w/ends) it'll sit at the dealers, plus there is that little headrest issue... ;)

have a good time though, look forward to the photos

How are the plans going?

Can we not start the cruiz in land as that always puts me off. It would be cool if the meeting point is next to a beach um like alittle south like Cronulla and travel along the COAST up towards whatever.

So pricer we have a itinerary set up?

how about after lunch (family stuff out of way).

A drive to Bondi for a pit stop should definately be a good idea since its very open and alot of people will get a nice view of many 8's.

I reckon we should have a vote of seeing all available people that day what time is better before or after lunch?

P.S Handheld UHF should be considered aswell.

just that if we go to kk then we can have a chat/eat donuts and also see other cars there

I got a good soccer injury from training, I got carried away stepping past defenders that i stepped past the boundary of my muscle :) Im a bit limpy limpy but its on the accelerator leg so thats a good thing for double demerits.

Hope its a good day so i get a chance to wash my car in the morning :)

If all my servers have a good day today and tomorrow i will be very fresh and ready for the drive if not i will be grumpy so no one talk to me ;) Just kidding.

Guys would this do

http://www.dse.com.au/isroot/dse/images/products/d1748.jpg

Uniden UH-040XR Pocket Communicator
Keep in touch with this new pocket sized UHF Family communicator. It's crisp, clear transmissions and 40 UHF channels provide up to 3km outdoor line of sight range, with no airtime costs or user license required.

pricer01

Its in the range "pardon the pun" but like all of these small units, the 3km claim is a bit rich.

I think supercheap autos have some well priced models too.
