View Full Version : So you like my rx-8 pictures?
brothervoodoo 03-12-2004, 10:45 AM How about this one....

Apparently someone backed into my car and took-off. The damage is below my deductible so I will be eating the cost of repainting the bumper and air dam.
ender_okc 03-12-2004, 10:50 AM thats too bad man!! I feel your pain!!
XDEEDUBBX 03-12-2004, 11:11 AM i have a suggestion...may be while its at the shop..a ask them to paint the custom grill the same color as your paint...can anyone photochop this?? it'll be different

Smoke_Weed_RX-8 03-12-2004, 12:55 PM if i saw someone do that to my car i'd tail them home and exact the proper revenge fromn them
brothervoodoo 03-12-2004, 01:09 PM I wasn't in the car when it happened. If I was I would have got a plate number and be done with it. Not sure what you mean by vengeance but going to jail over of a car is lame... though if the guy instigated a fight I'd be more than happy to rip his head off and shit down his neck..
WHealy 03-12-2004, 02:52 PM brother voodoo,
So sorry to hear your bad news. Here's hoping the repair/repaint come off flawlessly.

of course if you saw the person do it you'd react, not by tailing him and doing some stupid shit like that. he obviously wasn't near his(her, just in case) car when it happened. that being said, bummer your car got hit, but i can't say i like the grill at all. whatever floats your boat man.
mikeb 03-12-2004, 05:36 PM I knew it was gonna be something bad
because you never brag about your pictures
sorry man, I know you care for your car a lot

ypwpat 03-12-2004, 07:10 PM Sorry to hear that. But At least you don't have to Buy a new Bumper right? Just a repaint ;) so i hope everything is ok
You know i saw your car and was like that is awful and how anyone can just drive off when they hit a 30,000+ car..... Until tonight when i was out watching a friend of mine's hockey game. The person hit my car and obviously drove off.... what can i do with this?
racerdave 03-12-2004, 09:36 PM That "might' buff out.
Not so for Bro-voo... that blows. Sorry Bro.
(DOH! edited... it was late and I called Bro-voo, Omicron... )
Racer X-8 03-12-2004, 10:38 PM I never mentioned it, but mine had a dent right on that radiused edge of that grill opening. It was there when I bought it & didn't see it 'till the next day, when it wasn't dark & raining anymore. Looked like somebody hit it with a broomstick or a crowbar or something.
Anyway, that Dupont paint really is good stuff, and it's the same identical paint as what is used in Hiroshima, so it matches & will last just as good as if it was never damaged. At least that's what they told me anyway. I was real concerned about un-even aging of the repair job, nevermind the initial match.
Of course, my fix was no-charge. This really sux. If the persons only knew how you guys are about your cars, they would have at least stopped & taken responsibility for the damage done. Maybe not, a lot of low-life outside, you know...
So, hopefully I have helped ease your pain, where you can rest assured that once the damage is fixed, it really will be fixed, permanently. :)
oh yeah, if people only knew how many "brand new" cars had to visit the body shop after that long trip from the factory... I personally know of a yellow RX-8 that had a nasty "chain job" done to the right-rear fender off-the-truck. A couple of days later, it was on the lot, a couple more days, it was gone to it's new proud owner, whoever that was. How many "new cars" I wonder have been sold like that? Probably a bunch more than we would like to think...
fxdsconv2000 03-12-2004, 10:41 PM Damn, I think evey cars paint job needs a "DNA" marker so we can track down those sons of ******.
Sorry to hear about your car!
Rx8Past 03-13-2004, 04:28 AM brothervoodoo.... gosh soo sorry to see this.. but I'm sure it'll be back to perfect in no time.. I'm so paranoid to park my car anywhere now, and I always use a car cover whenever I'm parked outside.. but you know what goes around comes around, and I'm sure whoever did this will have the same lucky sooner or later.
English 03-13-2004, 11:24 AM Boooooooo!!! I don't like that picture one bit!!!
Overport 03-13-2004, 12:23 PM Its so pathetic these days that people are so unhonorable not to leave their name and insurance company when they hit you....it makes me sick, because its happend to me before (not in my 8).
mrtux 03-13-2004, 07:03 PM not good...sorry man.
nice to see that grille still keepin in tack tho
BaronVonBigmeat 03-14-2004, 05:05 PM Looks like a good excuse to get the MS front end. Then sell the front lip spoiler to help offset the cost.
brothervoodoo 03-14-2004, 05:41 PM I'm not a fan of the MS front end, seems to dwarf the stock wheels. I like the MS rear (exhaust finisher area) but unfortunately the guy/gal only hit me in the front. ;)
I don't know the specifics of BroVude's crunch, but here's some info to consider for everyone who is mad:
Parking around the SF area is more often than not extremely tight. A commonly observed parallel parking technique, it's disgusting to say, is backing up the car until it touches. I don't have to stretch my imagination too far to speculate that no note was left because the offending parker thought little of the contact and didn't even bother to look. A big part of the problem I see here is that Mazda didn't give us the most robust of bumper designs.
In any case, my heart goes out to all 8s that have contracted parking rash.

especially parallel parking on those steep sf hills.

(Writing From My Jail Cell) WTF... I thought you still had a couple months before you had to report. Dammit, did you get a chance to send my the lemon cookies before you got tossed in the clink... poop...
Martha, question, why did it take you so long to register to rx8club.com and why would you take the time to write to me in your first post. I'm glad you are in jail because I don't like stalkers.

VividRacing.com 03-17-2004, 12:37 PM I feel your pain, brother. My ride was only 2 weeks old when I got rear ended at a light and the guy decided to ram me again and push me though the intersection to run from me. I wasn't going to let that happen and i chased him long enough to get the plate # and description of the car and driver and then stoped the chase. Lucky for me there were plenty of witnesses at the intersection and after an investigation they caught the guy and turns out it was his girlfriend's parents car and he had no insurance. That's OK cuz we go to court in April. The sucky part is that this happend back in OCT.

Friend, I'm so sorry to read this. This is criminal. Did'nt the police come and arrest the guy? This should be big jail time.
brothervoodoo 03-17-2004, 12:50 PM Hello Huff, my damage was pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. I'm glad you managed to get his plate and then broke off the chase, good thinking and a smart thing to do considering the shock of the whole situation. Now make him suffer as much as legally possible!!! woot
Racer X-8 03-19-2004, 03:39 PM Good to see it fixed! You gonna do the billet grille again?
