Has anybody else had experiences with a creaking sound that comes from the steering console and dashboard ?
I took delivery of my 8 in Oct '03 and have only clocked up 2500kms. I first started noticing the creaking noise when turning corners after clocking up around 1200kms. It apprears to be getting progressively worse and now really starting to piss me off.
Does this sound like a similar experience with anyone else and have you been able to get it fixed ?
Yep, I got a couple. One is in the instrument cluster. Another seems to be coming from somewhere near the gear stick. About to do my first real service - will be getting it looked into then.

There is good news ahead .. and bad.
The steering wheel noise is well discussed in the forum, just do a search, and it seems the service guys can fix it! I never had this.
I experienced the noise in the dash and it got worse and the dealer was scheduled to do surgery but at around 14000km, the noise vanished!!
Yippeeee
pricer, thats coz the piece broke and wedged itself. =)
i have a creak/noise when going over small sharp bumps coming from the cluster/steering area.

I had a similar noise i initially thought it was coming from dash or the steering wheel .
I quickly realized the noise actually came from my drivers seat especially on hard right and left hand turns however after 2 weeks it dissapeared .

Yeah - my seat squeak was fixed in the blinkof an eye at service.
Do you know what they did to fix it Hymee? As my drivers seat has started creeping (non leather) - 1800 km's travelled.

Im pretty sure he said it was a known service bulletin issue, and the fix was to put some silastic, or similar, on the seat mounts.
I must confess I didn't look at what he actually did, I had my head buried in one of his manuals, looking at O2 sensor stuff :)
Cheers,
Hymee.
