View Full Version : Another Titanium Mazdaspeed
c$v RX8 03-07-2004, 07:25 PM I finally received my 3/4 Mazdaspeed kit. The reason I say 3/4 is because I did not buy the rear splitter. I most likely will purchase the splitter later on, but wanted to try the kit without it for now.
The installation was a pain, since I wanted everything to be as perfect as possible. It was a good experience, however. Having done this, I know every detail about my car, instead of worrying if a third party would install everything successfully.
The best part about this kit is the 100 extra horses it adds to my titanium bullet. :D
Check it out...

G8rboy 03-07-2004, 07:42 PM Damn that looks good... congrats!
Rx8Past 03-07-2004, 08:54 PM wow, beautiful!
doccable 03-07-2004, 08:59 PM Now I KNOW what I have to do... :D
Dustin4u 03-07-2004, 10:22 PM best looking 8 yet.
Nice house.
Kel Rx8 03-07-2004, 10:31 PM nice
where did you get it from and how much
RXhusker 03-07-2004, 10:34 PM Beautiful! I have the exact same set-up -- just waiting to put my MS front bumper on next week. I also didn't get the rear bumper -- at least not yet -- didn't really see that it added much.
Can't wait til the weather is nice enough here in Nebr. to Zaino again and take some nice pics like yours. I am debating whether or not to put my Efini emblems on the front MS bumper -- it looks so nice and clean without any emblems -- I I really like the unique rotor shaped Efini emblems.
I lowered mine (JIC coilovers) and it really looks nice without the big wheel gap up front and gap in the rear.
Now just add the R-Magic eyelines, strakes, huper-optiks tint and coilovers and you will be set ;)
Morning Wood 03-08-2004, 12:46 AM that spoiler is one of the nicest i've seen.
brothervoodoo 03-08-2004, 01:05 AM Cesar, the mazdaspeed back bumper (or splitter, whatever it's called) is actually the piece I like the best on that body kit. Though the resulting exhaust outlets would be so large you would really need beefy exhaust tips from Greddy or Borla to fill it out.
Looking at the 3rd Pic, If you don't go back bumper then I would suggest adding rear aero flairs to help the transition.
Happy trails with your modding.

sup3rbad 03-08-2004, 01:35 AM IMO i feel like its totally incomplete without the rear bumper spoiler. I could do without the wing but not the bumper spoiler. But looks good nonetheless. Just incomplete IMHO
c$v RX8 03-08-2004, 11:18 AM I see what you guys are saying. It does look incomplete. Well, I guess I will have to order it then. ;-)
Nobody really attempted this three piece version, so I thought I would try it out. Shoot I probably could have lived with the front bumper and rear spoiler only(which I did for a day). In any case, I finally have "some" Mazdaspeed parts, and the rest will soon follow. :D
RXhusker 03-08-2004, 11:32 AM I am still not sold on the MS rear bumper - I have the appearance package with the rear aero flares -- I am having the bottom painted in the darker grey to match the MS kit's two tone look.
I thought I read that the MS rear bumper required "shaving" part of the stock upper bumper -- I am not sure I want to do something that would prevent me from taking it back to stock if I wanted.
c$v RX8 03-08-2004, 11:38 AM Eh? It requires shaving? I did not know that. Oh well, you gotta love the challenges of making your car look awesome.
mmmdowning 03-08-2004, 12:58 PM That is beautiful! Just to much money.
RXhusker 03-08-2004, 01:20 PM If you are going to get the rear bumper you had better get a new exhaust at the same time -- those little stock pipes are going to look tiny in the MS rear.
c$v RX8 03-08-2004, 02:22 PM Very true...
I have a friend who owns a performance shop. He as been wanting me to buy either the borla or b&b. It is very tempting, esp. with his prices, but I am going to wait. I will definitely buy an exhaust either way.
It looks like we will have similar sigs RXhusker. Man, I am going to have to come up with some more unique items to make my baby different.
Sanguine_Dark 03-08-2004, 02:53 PM This may be a dumb question but....
What is the black part across the top center of the grill? I don't remember ever seeing that before. What exactly is that?
c$v RX8 03-08-2004, 02:57 PM I believe it is for the license plate, but I am not positive. I never noticed this before either. All the pictures I saw were pitch black, so I could never really see this piece. I would have taken it off, but the grill did not extend far enough from the base of the mouth to the top.
neit_jnf 03-08-2004, 03:51 PM The black part is in the US spec Mazdaspeed kit as the US cars have a bigger front bumper than the Japanese. One thing I've been noticing in all MS kit pictures is the rear wing, does it have a lip spoiler under it?
c$v RX8 03-08-2004, 04:31 PM yes...it has a trunk lip spoiler
Sanguine_Dark 03-08-2004, 04:48 PM The bumper behind the nose piece is larger on US cars? This I did not know. Is there any way to delete this item. I was planning on getting a MS kit but if that part is not deletable I probably wont.
c$v RX8 03-08-2004, 05:04 PM You can definitely take off this piece. Just make sure to find a nice grill to replace it. ;)
mikeb 03-08-2004, 07:22 PM I have never been a fan of getting part of a bodykit
I think it needs a back bumper of some sort
ms, veilside , but it needs a back bumper to even it out
the car looks great
c$v RX8 03-09-2004, 04:54 PM man...i guess the MS 8 doesn't look right w/o that splitter according to most people. well, thankfully we have income tax.
rear splitter...come to papa.
Omicron 03-09-2004, 08:25 PM Wow, looks awesome!
the car looks badass.... ;)
do u have pictures of the process...i dont have that much money so i have to get the kit in parts....do u have picture of the front by itself or the skirts by it self with out the front or wing on the car
c$v RX8 03-11-2004, 08:32 AM i have some pics with just the bumper, but they are not that good. i might post them this weekend anyway.
Overport 03-11-2004, 09:12 AM It looks completely great the way it is, if you got the splitter, it would make the exhaust outlets really huge, then you would need a really huge exhaust to fill it out.
c$v RX8 03-11-2004, 09:24 AM thanks...
I am actually looking into getting the borla soon. Maybe, I will just get these last pieces together.
Sue Esponte 03-11-2004, 02:11 PM WOW! Looks awesome!! Congrats!!
Did you think about reinstalling the foglights on it? How much did the package run you (if you don't mind my asking) and where did you get it?
On a scale of 1-10 how difficult was the installation? I know you said it was a pain in the butt but I've done tons of jobs that were simple but just seemed to take forever. What made the swap so difficult?
-Eric
TxRx8 03-11-2004, 03:39 PM I agree that the regular appearence package rears would look kick ass on this car.
It just needs something back there. Still, nice job man.

c$v RX8 03-11-2004, 04:08 PM all three components and shipping ran ~2900. i do not wish to disclose the supplier because i was not satisfied with the service, but nonetheless i received my order.
as far as installing the kit, it is exactly how you described - time consuming. the process is not hard. it is painful to drill holes in your baby. so, i MADE sure everything was as 'perfect' as possible. the hardest part to install was the spoiler(trying to get everything to line up so the lower spoiler and upper spoiler match positions).
so, overall, the install was probably a 6 in my book(mostly because of the time it took)
Sue Esponte 03-11-2004, 11:33 PM Did you have to drill for the front bumper too or just the sideskirts and spoiler?
Again, looks great. Oh yeah, did you notice any problems with the painted parts (e.g., chipped, scratched)?
-Eric
c$v RX8 03-12-2004, 08:32 AM no you do not have to drill for the front bumper, just bolt/screw it on.
as for the parts, there were no problems. they came in perfect condition.
Smoke_Weed_RX-8 03-12-2004, 01:02 PM i personally think the mazdaspeeds look better if you accent them with the RX-8 logo front grille. but it looks sick. i was toirn between the mazdaspeed and the r-magic. but i chose the magic. props to the car.
im torn between ING and Autoexe...
ING is more racy and Autoexe is more sophisticated looking.
kgunny 03-15-2004, 05:03 PM Hey, where did you get the MAZDASPEED decals on the side skirts?
c$v RX8 03-16-2004, 09:29 AM i ordered them off of ebay...stickers were very durable because i decided to replace with a mazdaspeed badge and had a difficult time removing :)

Nice car, but your neighbor next door takes better care of his grass than you do. I suggest, you run on over to Home Depot and pick up a bag of Scotts Fertilizer.
c$v RX8 03-16-2004, 01:24 PM yea...i couldn't help the yard. sometimes i like to do donuts on my lawn with my 8.
it's actually pretty fun...
willhave8 03-16-2004, 09:24 PM Looks great and I agree with the many comments that the rear needs something to complete it. What I don't know, I'm not a designer.
Frankly, I think the rear of the 8 is the section of the car needing broader attention. In particular, If I had one thing on the car cosmetically I could change it would be the tail lights. They are just less distinctive & distinguished than the rest of the car.
rotarypower 03-17-2004, 11:06 PM sweet kit.
