Will the RX-8 be your every day car or will it be your second car used on nice days or weekends?

It will be my only car, that is why the practicality of the RX-8 appealed to me. If it were to be my second car, I would have waited for the next RX-7.

I will have to have a "Winter Beater" if I get the RX-8. Here in PA the salt disolves your car body like tissue paper and the gravel makes the paint look like you got hosed by a pixie with a machine gun.

I know what you mean - I also live in PA and that's the only thing that's holding me back. But what the hell I should just buy a pickup truck! NOT!

I will use it every day:) . It is just a too nice car to leave it in the garage. If I need something bigger I can always ask my wife to use her MPV (Voyager).

it will be my daily driver. my wife has her ford ranger to use. if it holds out for a couple of more years we'll trade it for something newer for her and for our trips up to the mountains for skiing. we don't get any snow to speak of around portland in the winter just rain. and they don't use salt here.

S2000 for summer sun days
RX-8 for rain, cold, or long trips
Ford Probe GT for snow and salty roads

It'll be my daily driver for the summer and into fall. At some point I'll need a cargo carrier, and will be looking at picking up something like a protege5 or tribute or element for the runabout, and to head up to the slopes in the winter.

But for a while I'll have my rx-8 and wife will have her miata..

Actually will be our 3rd car for a bit, until we sell the 240. Will be my daily driver - wife drives a Sante Fe. I just found the perfect child seats online, too...

This will be neither my only car, nor my second car - it will be my primary car.

It will be my daily driver and weekend toy, sharing the garage with the wife's '02 Miata. (I sold my '99 Miata last week to make room for the RX-8.) My secondary vehicle will continue to be the '92 Explorer that we use to cart the dogs and bikes around when we want to get out of town for a few days.

My only car, I just want to keep the milage around 1000 to 1500 a month, no more. Sucks that it'll still have around 60-90k miles on it by the time it's paid for :(. Oh well, hopefully it'll still be running strong and looking good, so I can keep it around without a car payment and hopefully finally have money to spend on things like...I dunno, a mortgage and stuff. I hate paying $500 a month for insurance :(, I must be the poorest "rich" (salary wise) guy I know.

Yeah, tell me about it! Actually right now I pay $5000 a year, but the RX-8, supposedly, will increase it $500 every six months. Making it $6000 a year! Yes it's sick, yes I hate it! NJ and its cops blow! And people wonder why I compain about how much I make a year not being enough. When you throw a tenth of your salary at insurance every freakin' year it makes saving money a bit difficult. Yet somehow I still want to buy this car...someone talk me out of it lol.

I heard there is a type of insurance where you only pay for the miles you drive. They would put a gps tracking on your car to determine how many miles you've driven. Thats what I'm planning to get for my futur geexer. And both my future rx-8 and geexer will be garaged(dreamin all day and night)

Hey, thanks for the child car seat find! I need to talk my wife into upgrading our 2 old car seats for your posted one ...

:D

The RX-8 will be my daily drive for work and weekends, but for any long vacation road trips, I think we might have to use my wife's Passat because of the larger trunk size.

:p

How didn you get a quote on the RX-8 when the car is not out yet?

The insurance quote, at least my company's, is based more on the monetary value of the car and the model year than anything else about it. According to them the bulk of my insurance quote is due to comprehensive coverage, and that is determined primarily by the car's value. So I gave the agent the MSRP and they estimated it from there.

I live out side of Philly and I expect to pay around $1,500 To $2,000 per year and I think that is very high. The insurance companies are worst that the guy on the street that mugs you!

Agreed, the rates are even worse in Jersey. That and Jersey cops love to pull you over for nothing just to find a reason to give you a ticket. Don't even get me started...lol. Anyway, I pay so much because I have 10 freakin' points on my license. Funny how my driving since I moved to this state didn't change, only my rate of being pulled over did. Cops here = total shit heads. They like to treat me like I'm just some punk in a sports car, should have never bought an F-body, my license and wallet would have probably be a lot happier now.
