I've been waiting until a few weeks before I get my 8 to reserve my plate (VA lets you put a 90 day hold on any plate) and today I checked and some #($@*@ took it! STUPID ME for not reserving it sooner!

Oh well, maybe it's only on 90 day hold... I'll have to try again in 3 months.

Sorry, just had to vent.

I think VA has more personalized plates than any other state. Everytime I go there it seems 1 of 3 (estimate) cars has a vanity plate. Its kind of amazing to see.

Yeah, they are either first or second... It only costs $10 to personalize a standard blue and white VA plate.

Grrrr...

Still

Well if it makes you feel any better someone really did steal my plate. Came out to my car one day and the damn thing was gone, they didn't even unscrew it, just ripped it right off :(

Ike,

You did report it stolen right. I am sure you did. I hate when that stupid crap happens. Good thing you didn't put the front plate on right. You didn't did you?

Well, here's the kicker... I went to the courthouse to go to the local precinct to report it stolen and they wouldn't take my report because my registration is suspended from parking tickets. I'm fighting these parking tickets (for good reason) and have an appointment with the city attorneys office to review the tickets.
However they're backed up and my meeting isn't for a couple more months. So I either pay parking tickets (300 dollars worth) that I shouldn't have to pay and get a new plate. Or hope that the jackass that stole my plate isn't going around robbing convienience stores with my plates on his car and get the tickets at the very least reduced greatly. My guess is whoever took the plate wanted the sticker and it was just easier to take the whole plate.

And no, no front plate was on it, and the front plate is now in my back window...

Sorry to hi-jack your thread like this Liveitup, it wasn't my intention and I hope you come up with another good plate :)

Like I said, most likely because they don't want to pay for a current registration sticker.

and so they can rack up more parking tickets for you i think.

You have to be careful here in Madison. It's a pretty dangerous place.

If anyone was to commit a crime with that plate and it wasn't reported stolen (a reason for the officer to pull over a vehicle) because some J/O wouldn't take the report it seems to me that the police dept would be responsible for damages. Just my opinion but I think I am right.

Grrrr, speaking of plates...mine came today and was supposed to look just like the one in my avatar, to the left of here for those of you who are terminology challenged.

Any way, guess what my plate has on it? Does it have D MENAC 7 on it??? NO! It has 619 2757. Why might you ask, I know I did? D MENAC 7 was my plate two years ago on my last car. I had a truck for the last two years before my 8. I made special arrangements to get the D MENAC 7 ordered again and had detailed instructions for the dealership to do to ensure that I would get this plate again. (They had to take my old truck plates to the Secretary of States office to a specific individual who had arranged this, no big deal, they had to go there anyway for the registration business they have to do) So, they promissed me they would.

I never got any notifications from the Secy' of State saying my request could not be fulfilled due to unavailability and now I end up with this piece of shit number because I bet top dollar the dealership didn't do what I had asked and they had promissed.

That dealership is the absolute worse excuse of customer appreciation and satisfaction I have ever had the pleasure of having done business with. I am really PISSED now, this is the final straw, they got absolutely nothing right on my deal.

One other thing with them, they took three weeks to send in the pay off for my former vehicle and I had the creditor calling me daily for most of a week because they couldn't even do this right.

What's worse, they are a multi-dealership in town here with Mazda, Lincoln-Mercury, Toyota, Audi, VW and Hyundai. There are no other dealerships selling these brands, we only have one dealership per brand in this town.

OK, maybe I should have posted this on the good guy / bad guy section...I just had to get this off my chest. I also had bad day, maybe it's that time of the month... :D

Whew! understandable. I would give specific detail about who the dealership is in the Good Guy/Bad Guy thread. I have to say that it is typical of a dealership that only cares about profit and not about the customer.

Regarding Ike's stolen plate --

Don't parking tickets include a vehicle description? If so and someone is collecting tickets with your plate, the description should exonerate you. Just a hopeful thought, anyway!
