I plan to keep it as long as one of us is still able to drive ;)

Problem is, I am very hard on cars.. so it gets expensive.

This is probly the first car I've owned though that I care enough about not to let fall into disrepair or trade in at first signs of problems.

I plan on keeping it until it falls apart.

Thats not to say I wont buy other cars as well though.

I never had a brand new sports car. I used to buy used ones off the original owners. I remember being envious of one particular guy that sold me his 86 RX7 GXL, that he purchased new in 86. Telling me his story. Now I'm one of those guys. But I don't ever plan on selling it....it's the beginning of a collection of rotaries...haha

I'm hopping for about 4 yrs but the way my wife changes her mind ya never know. Besides i bought her the 8 so I could justify spending 16k on my new victory motorcycle (lol).

i'm figuring in about 4-5 years i'll buy myself another car, but keep my rx for fun.... obviously depending on my financial situation, but if i have enough then i just might put a 3 rotor engine in there, redo the tranny, hell almost rebuild the whole damn car

Ideally 10 years or when repairs/downtime becomes a problem.

Or it may become a gift before then.

Daily drive it 'til it becomes a project car, then buy a new daily and repeat the cycle.

As long as possible just sold my previous car 3 days ago. Bought it new in1981 , only had 74000km on it, never saw snow, summer driven only.

2000 Celica - owned for 1.5 years
2002 Civic Si - owned for 1.5 years

Now own RX-8

It is getting expensive trading cars in..

I NEED TO STOP !

Had my last car -- 1993 PGT -- for 11 years. Will personally drive this car for quite a while. I don't buy cars simply because they're new, or because they have a particular characteristic or style, or because they have a high resale value. I bought this car because the overall package is the most compelling I've encountered since the last vehicle I bought.

Eventually, this car will probably go the same route my old car is about to take. Will be given to a family member.

I bought my first car ('91 Pulsar Sport Hatch) because it was the cheapest car I could comfotably fit in. Now that I'm able to buy a decent car, I can't immagine ever giving it up. If it does ever becomes uneconomical to run, I'll turn it into the most beautiful sculpture EVER! and maybe buy a Bentley or an Aston Martin...

... actually, a regular pulsar would've been cheaper - but I'm not THAT cheap!

not RX-8 related, but related to this thread. when i bought my Protege back in 2000 i told myself that i would keep it for at least 10 years because it's such a solid little car to run around in. Then 2 years later i got the fun car itch and bought a 2nd gen RX-7 to play around in. Now 4 years after i bought the Protege new i've got the itch to trade in the Protege for an 8! but then again right now my financial situation probably won't allow me to make car payments (both cars paid off), so I guess the old FC will have to do to fulfill my fun car needs :( :)

moral of story: sometimes you end up doing what you originally wanted to do, but under different circumstances than you anticipated :D
