Hi there! I am from Vancouver, Canada, and have been looking to buy a car for about 7 months (my civic got stolen and smashed by damn thieves). I got a pretty ok paying job as an English Teacher, and was looking towards getting an IS, and joined many forums. Then I heard of news of the Infiniti G35 coming out, so i waited and compared the 2. The G35 beats the IS300 in my mind because it gives you more value for the money. The only problem was that I had to wait for the Manual. Then the G35C comes out, and test drove that. Very, very nice car, except not much really legroom/headspace in the back. Then I saw a magazine with this cool looking car in the front so looked at it and it was an RX-8. I never paid heed to the RX-8 at first because I had to get a 4-seater with plenty of space. Then I started to lurk on the forums and found that space is pretty generous in the back, and next thing you know i paid 1000 bux deposit and am 3rd in line at my dealership! I am probably 80 percent sure i am gonna get this car, except I have been reading that u have to really baby the engine (frequent oil changes, etc) and I am a very absent minded person! I just hope If i do get the car, I dont mess it up!! Anyways, just wanted to say a friendly "Hi" Post to everyone on this board!:D

You should change the oil every 3000 miles and add some when ever it is needed. Having enough oil is critical because a small amount is injected into the rotorhousing, so it burns oil a little quicker than a normal car. Its not hard to do yourself (not to mention it saves money), so if you don't know how click here. (http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/maintenance/oil_change.html) That is an oil change on a rx7 so it should be fairly similar. Try to remember to check the oil every chance you get (every time you fill up would be ideal) and don't trust the oil light.

As an english teacher, I believe you need more punctuation in that paragraph :)

shouldn't that be "I have a pretty ok paying job..."
just messing with the new guy;) welcome aboard. just do the recommended services at the correct intervals, keep the oil topped of in between and you should be fine. set up a schedule on your computer (or palm pilot type device if you have one) to help you keep track:cool:

Oil light... OMG... you do know that that light is BAD right... that's not a "You really should top up some time" it's a "you really should STOP right this second and walk to a garage to get oil"... light... That's true if it's a rotary or not...
Any engine without oil pressure is tearing itself apart inside...
