Hey all.
Im in need! I need to get a hold of a stock rx8 catalytic converter so i can have my 2004 warranted for a new engine. I took it in to get it looked at and i was told that even though there is something wrong that dealer will not get involved until i have a stock or replacement catalytic converter on the car. I thought it was illegal to refuse service because of modifications made to the car. right now i have a agency power dual resonated mid pipe on and when i bought the car it had a racing beat 3" pipe. i only need to borow or rent the converter for a short time while my car is in the shop and would return it after my car is out. If anybody in the detroit metro area or local would be willing to help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

they can refuse service if they believe that the modified part was a direct cause of your problem.
So, unless the cat is clogged/damaged or installed wrong, I'd say that their case is pretty weak.

There in no catalytic converter in the mid pipe right now. its just 2 resonator cans. the tech was worried that mazda would not want to replace the engine if it had the mid pipe on it.

same applies. Unless they can prove that the midpipe is a direct cause of failure for the engine, then they must honor the warranty.
