How can I get the GPS NAV system to do the obvious:
Find the closest Starbucks to my current location?
You could substitute Starbucks with any resteraunt or store name.
To me, this seems like a natural. Heck, when I had it, my Palm 7 could do exactly this!

Yeah, I couldn't find the closest Dunkin Donuts one day. What I forgot to do once I got to it, was pull up ALL of the closest eateries and see how/if it was categorized. It wasn't under fast food or American as I searched before getting there.

The other problem finding Starbucks is that most are in new locations that are not in the database (new streets and the like).

Perhaps Starbucks was not poi worthy when the nav cd was released. It has only been the last couple of years since Starbucks has really started to boom.

How often do they update the DVD?
I know a Starbucks that has been around Indy for several years now in a Barnes and Noble store. But when I search on named POI for Starbucks, the closest one is 400+ miles away!!
At least now I know I'm not missing something.

bcbrothers,
Actually the coffee shops in Barnes & Noble bookstores is not a Starbucks. They serve Starbucks coffee. Check it out the next time you're there. You will also notice that if you go to a real Starbucks that the coffee tastes better IMHO.

Nearest starbucks? Just drive around and you'd probably see 3 or 4.

How to find a Starbucks.
Stand still for 30 or 40 seconds, it will find you.
Anyone ever walk down the west side of central park in NYC?
There is an intersection with 4 Starbucks.
Yes. Four.

We have several intersections in Houston with more than one Starbuck's. The nav system probably won't answer that because there are so many and it is too obvious! Not being able to find Starbuck's is like not being able to find the ground.
FWIW: The Barnes and Noble stores here do actually have Starbuck's inside them. They are not just places that sell Starbuck's. Border's books here serves Starbuck's coffee but isn't Starbuck's.
