Just thought I would post a couple of pics with my 8 at a Historical Landmark near where I live. I live like 8 blocks from here.

That was Lincoln's final resting place but when he was first returned to Springfild after his death he was interned here.

Just a few different views here in front of the receiving tomb where the body of Lincoln once lay.

My wife tells me she thinks I am in love with my car...does anyone think she may be jealous? Of course she is right, you know? :D

Nice car but you should have gotten Brilliant Black. That's the color to get with the rx8.

Just kidding. Very impressive pictures.

Want me to upload some pictures of my rx8?

Wheels are pointing the wrong way for that style of photograph. Still, nice looking car.

a lot of you guys up north shy away from tint. Why not just slap it on...it really will make the car sleek.

I'm planning on getting it tinted soon. Just haven't taken the time to get it done. I'm not fond of limo black but will probably go with something like 35% maybe.

I saw your exact RX8 on the road A(though with tinted windows) and thought to myself that is the PERFECT RX8

Between the Red, the mudflaps, Rear spolier and no aero the car is beautiful !!!

I came VERY close to getting red and I think that is the best color for the 8

VERY nice red! Your car almost made me get red when I was reading this forum before we bought.
I am in the South, but I am still going to wait to get mine tinted. The last car I had was new and I took it to get tinted. When I got it back that afternoon, it smelled like someone had burned plastic in it! I called hysterical, and the guy said it was cold in the shop, that the tint needed to dry so they ran my heater (with and without the car running) ALL DAY. I could have killed them!
So I will wait until it is warm, and not go back to that place even though they did an excellent job! :)

Thanks for the complements.

Yeah, I am going to wait a little bit because the place I asked about doing it about their cost, they had asked me if it is a 2 door or 4 door and I said 4. It costs more for a 4 door than a 2 door according to their pricing.

I am going to check around and see if it varies like that at others and when asked, it's a 2 door. After all, the rear doors are only for convenience to gain access to the rear seats and, there is no more window area than there is on a 2 door.

They were also charging considerably extra for tinting the moon roof. I can do that myself, it's not hard because there are no real huge curves in it, the hardest part is hanging it upsided down. Though, I haven't looked to see how hard it would be to take off which would make things so much easier. The side windows shouldn't be too hard either but if I can convince them it's a 2 door, explain that it would be easier than a 2 door because these small door open, then the price would be the same, anyway.

I would never attempt the rear window in this car because of the curvature. It would be harder than hell to do unless you are a professional and do difficult windows all the time.

Thanks, I think it's close to perfection too! :D

My preference for the RX-8 colors are, from highest to lowest:

Velocity Red
Winning Blue
Lightening Yellow
Black
Silver
Gray
Nordic Green

Though, if no choices, I would take any of the available colors, hands down.

I did a thread a while back named Colors they didn't paint the 8...yet and has a few other colors that I photo chopped. http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19706

ummmm, Lincoln, his first name was Abe. The second shots were at his receiving vault where he laid intern until they built the tomb in the photo. He did have a short hiatus when someone or group stole his body from the vault. It was recovered and verified that it was Lincoln and eventually placed in the final tomb, supposedly under 10 ft. of concrete.

Beautiful Pics! I love how you keep the car so clean in the winter. I washed and waxed mine 2 weeks ago, washed it last weekend on saturday just before meeting with some like minded rotary enthusiasts and on the way down I picked up enough dust that it looked like I never washed it at all :( . The melting snow caused so much dirt and dust on the road. Can't wait for spring to hit full swing and my car can look as good as yours.

PS You don't have the only jealous wife... :p

Car looks great especially without the front plate.
Here the UK we have to have a front plate or face a fine, real pity as it looks so much better without

Nice pics.... was that whole wax job done with Meguiar's NXT ? Or did you use something else?

D MENAC 7
03-04-2004, 10:15 PM
50% Mcguirs NXT only, 50% Mcguirs tech wax with carnuba as a first coat, NXT as a second coat. WTF you are wondering? I started out with the roof, the front hood and the rear trunk and spoiler with a coat of Mcguirs tech wax, the yellow wax with carnuba. Then I applied a second coat of NXT to those areas and a first coat of NXT to the remaining areas. I figured that the horizontal surfaces have more exposure to sun and moisture sitting on them than the vertical so they needed extra protection...

OK, didn't buy that? I got lazy after the first sections with the Mcguirs Tech wax because I did them the night before and it got too dark and just said the hell with it and went with the NXT over the whole car the next day. I did do the wheels in the Mcguirs Tech wax only, though.

I'll be adding more wax layers soon.

It's interesting that you decided to photograph your red shiny phallic object in front of another phallic object.

I think your wife is jealous, but not for the reasons that you think. ;)
