water in oil
water in oil
when checking my oil a couple of weeks ago, there was water in it . i was obviously scared as i know this is bad in a piston engine. i took it to my dealer who said it was ok and just `condensation`. they changed oil. can anyone enlighten me on what has happened , i am worried the dealer is not entirely telling me anything
do a search for milky oil and you'll find lots of posts about it.
I believe the dipstick tube is prone to forming condensation and if the car is not taken on extended trips it can build up the milky residue in the dipstick tube. The oil itself is not milky like that, just the inside of the dipstick tube.
Note: I have a 23 mile commute each way and have not experienced this phenomenon

I do 26 miles one way back and forth to work and my dipstick still looks like it was drinking a milkshake.
It does make checking the level a pain.
Oh well, I just ignore it.
