Better yet, call around to insurance companies, because everyone's situation is unique.

On my policy USAA calls it a "coupe". Whether that's in the same classificaton as sports car is beyond me. Don't really care though, my rates are outstanding.

Yup. I was quoted exactly the same rate for the RX-8 and the 350Z. Interestingly, the G35 was about 5% higher. Go figure.

The insurance for my 8 is about 90 bucks higher for 6 months than my 2001 Alero which had 50k miles when I traded it in..

So I would say in general, insurance is not as high as your typical sports car.

My monthly rate is only $15 higher than what I was paying for my 2000 Chevy Impala LS, which surprised me.

I've got Statefarm and for my fully loaded 8 with MT and NAV I'm paying $50 more every 6 months than I did on my 2001 Dodge Ram pickup.

I'm 48 so they "think" that I'm a safe and responsible driver. <SEG>
