Anyone else put their elbows/forearm on the window sill in their other cars and notice that the 8's is a little too high.
I'm getting used to it. :D

My last car (2002 Civic Si) didn't even have a center armrest for my right arm. I love the 8's (if I'm not drinking anything)

yep, cgrx, noticed that. But I felt like I was "showing off" with my elbow out the window in Minnesota at 45 degrees. Oddly, I owned a civic, as well. Nice car, but ...no comparison.

Now I am in heaven every day I drive my Rx-8. God, I'm a dork. But I'm serious!!!

yeah thats one thing i dont like about the 8. i have a hard time finding a good place for whatever arm is off the steering wheel.

A purist would point out that one shouldn't be resting one's arms on anything.

I didn't realize I was a purist!
I have never found the need to rest my left elbow on anything since that hand is always on the wheel.
If your left hand isn't on the wheel, what are you doing as you shift?
Since the RX-8 requires that you row through the gears almost constantly, if your left elbow is on the sill, nobody is driving the car!

My typical is both hands on the wheel. If its low activity drving (e.g. long distance) they drop to my lap and I hold the wheel at the bottom, around 4 & 8 in clock coordinates. I have an AT so I don' t need to shift.

I tried the elbow on the window ledge and thats not something I sustain for long. Occasionally on long drives, I will pull my left leg back towards the seat and use my thigh as another arm wrest. I find the driver's area to be wider and more comfortable than the other cars I looked at, especially the Kompressor, it seemd to be very narrow.

I confess - I like to rest my left elbow on the sill while I'm cruising (no right hand on the shifter, though), and yes, the 8's door is a bit too high. The Miata, which I used to drive, was perfect for elbow-out cruising; in fact, I seem to recall that the Miata's designer made the doors that height precisely for that reason.
