View Full Version : Is your RX-8 a Autobot or a Decepticon?
EightCostsMoney 06-23-2011, 07:30 AM I've been a huge TF fan since I was a little kid. Next to original Star Wars sage the cartoon Transformers movie is my favorite of all time. The Transformers are one of the reason I love cars so much. The new movies are ok but they don't capture the magic the original shows and movie did. Maybe I'm all grown up!
One of my favorite TF was Silver streak and Blue streak next to Optimus Prime. This was because my Dad had a 280ZX at the time.

If you are a hard core G1 fan or you love the new Michael Bay (explosion) movies. Which side would your RX-8 be on if it were a Transformer? I wish the new movies would have a RX-8 to pay homage to the old school TFs.
Anyways I found that there was a RX-7 named Camshaft, which is funny since he does not have one being a Rotary.

Lancifer 06-23-2011, 07:48 AM In 2004 Jazz had an alternate form/toy that was an RX-8.
Lancifer 06-23-2011, 07:51 AM doublepost.
Lancifer 06-23-2011, 07:52 AM Shockwave also had a reincarnation as Shockblast and was a Blue Mazdaspeed Kit RX-8 in the alternators series.
Jesus I am too old to know this stuff. LOL.
EightCostsMoney 06-23-2011, 08:05 AM Cool deal, I did not know that.

My wife bought me him not long after i got my 05 Shinka. He was always my favorite and the 05 shinka is as close to purple as you can get... so the whole thing kind of came full circle for me. Hence both my sig and avatar as well as my license plate is a vanity plate saying same thing that Shockblast's... SHKWAV also my avatar tag.
no... i'm not obsessed. :p
Lancifer 06-23-2011, 01:44 PM ^^Only slightly obsessed. LOL. Fine Purple. LOL.
[edit] BTW I want that toy and if I can find Jazz as an RX-8 I am all over it.[edit]

just an FYI, like Shockwave being renamed as Shockblast, Jazz was renamed as Meister. Reason being is Hasbro/Mattel didnt refile for copyright on the names and lost them to some other toy company chomping at the bit to steal the names... which they did.
here's to your obsession:

:lol2: nice. Did you "win" one yet?
Lancifer 06-25-2011, 06:22 AM I did!
Jazz.
2 of em, one I am painting to match my cars paint job. LOL
8 Maniac 06-25-2011, 09:11 PM I bought the Meister in both red and white as well as the Shockblast a while back... it was kind of a waste of money, but oh well! The japanese models had diecast body panels, thought everything else was plastic. I remember someone mentioning that the US versions were all plastic in a previous thread, though I'm not sure about that.
Slightly off topic, but my favorite RX-8 model was a normal (non-transformer) model that came with a ton of interchangeable parts..... Different rims, exhaust, seats, mirrors, steering wheel, E-brake, shifter, front and rear bumpers, strut tower brace and brakes. It came without a spoiler and included the MS spoiler, though that's applied via a sticker so it's not exactly something I would consider "removable" once it's applied. It also has the engine cover... don't remember if that fit with the "aftermarket" strut tower brace. It had adjustable camber and ride height as well.
Lancifer 06-26-2011, 08:08 AM Sounds like a cool model. Me thinks I shall find one! I love kitsch!
EightCostsMoney 06-27-2011, 07:05 AM Looks like The Autobots are winning.

Shinka_MJR 06-27-2011, 08:06 AM i'll warn you now, they are a bitch to transform. taking one apart to paint might be the worst experience ever. Good luck with that. post pics of the entire process.... lol if you dare!
Jethro Tull 06-27-2011, 09:01 AM Changing into the robot is easy. Transforming back into the car is a bitch.
Muffler gun, lol.
Shinka_MJR 06-27-2011, 09:26 AM Muffler gun, lol.
ROFL... srs backfire man!

Well I guess that means I will not be doing it. LOL. Meh who knows, I am a special kind of crazy.

I've been meaning to do this forever. I bought an extra Jazz (the cheaper plastic Hasbro branded Alternators) to take apart and repaint as a scale model of my car. I even got a set of 1:24 scale Advan RZ's to match:

I guess mine is considered a 'con, considering this is glued on:

I remember one G1 fanatic who reviewed these Binaltechs when they first came out, complaining that there were too hard to transform. Peh. That's the whole point, there are supposed to be complicated and intricate, for adult collectors.
I bought the Meister in both red and white as well as the Shockblast a while back... it was kind of a waste of money, but oh well! Yup, all of Takara's releases had die-cast. Nice and hefty with slick paint jobs, but prone to chipping. Hence, adult collector oriented. My wife even helped me complete my collection by getting me one of the rare metal BT-17's (a black Dodge RAM). She didn't even balk at the $700 price tag.
I love these things. I love how they reproduced the mirrors, MS body kit, and rims on Laserwave. The earlier Binaltech releases of the RX8 mold (the red and white Meisters, and Laserwave) were the best in terms of fit and quality. The later releases, like the Bay-Movie inspired re-paint of Meister, were not so well put together.
Lancifer 07-02-2011, 06:39 AM When I was a kid all of the transformer toys were diecast metal and plastic. Optimus prime weighed a ton. I broke Megatron trying to turn him back into the gun. LOL. My nephew got a transformer toy recently and I was disappointed... all plastic and had not weight to it.
OMG I just slapped a date on myself. LOL
Rote8 07-20-2011, 02:44 PM Decepticon,
Mine looks stock; and hunts Mustang GTs.... LOL
Lancifer 07-20-2011, 03:23 PM I don't know that I have seen a single import in the Transformers movies that was NOT a Decepticon.
**SPOILER ALERT**
(BTW... best reveal of all in Transformers 3... the Mercedes coupe usually driven by assholes ends up being... an asshole!)
devtec 07-20-2011, 10:04 PM Good god you guys are awesome.
Baa weep grana weep nimi bong!!
EightCostsMoney 07-25-2011, 09:35 AM If any of you guys are collectors I have a Mustang GT "Grimlock" in box I would trade for RX-8 Transformer. PM if you are interested, it looks like this. I might even sell it if you make the right offer.

skywarp 04-16-2012, 10:49 AM Decepticon,
My favorite is Skywarp obviously, cause without him none or the transformers would be alive after the crash to earth....
slvrstreak 04-16-2012, 11:17 AM you put way too much thought into this dude...
bse50 04-16-2012, 11:36 AM you put way too much thought into this dude...
More than he put in choosing his paint scheme
slvrstreak 04-16-2012, 11:45 AM
to each his own lol
Winfree 04-18-2012, 09:08 AM When it locked me out with its engine running, and when it sounded its alarm twice in the Church parking lot on Easter Sunday - I would have said decepticon! But it is so easy on the driver and so faithful on long trips it has some autobot in there somewhere!
Favorite Bot - Optimus Prime, always had a soft spot for that big red white and blue truck, the Big Meg would be fun to tease at a safe distance - Star Scream is right up there but probably would whine to much! But for keeping in the garage, Soundwave, mysterious and oddly loyal for a Decepticon would worth his oil!

I dont think there is anyone who wouldn't like Prime... maybe Hitler, given the chance. Alas, he's my #2. Shockwave for me, though i hated how he was portrayed in Transformers 3.
