View Full Version : Test your hidden biases Speed-ER doc 02-27-2004, 03:19 PM Scary stuff. Are you biased? Really? http://www.tolerance.org/hidden_bias/index.html pmacwill 02-27-2004, 03:34 PM Racial Bias Skin-Tone: Your data suggest little or no automatic preference How other test subjects scored: Interpretation / Percent of Total Respondents Strong automatic preference for light-skin 22% Moderate automatic preference for light-skin 27% Slight automatic preference for light-skin 18% Little to no automatic preference 19% Slight automatic preference for dark-skin 8% Moderate automatic preference for dark-skin 5% Strong automatic preference for dark-skin 1% pmacwill 02-27-2004, 03:35 PM I was surprised by my results. also, even though they have a time penalty for thinking too much as opposed to reactionary results, it isn't fast enough. if you are a quick thinker and are paying attention, it is easy to show no bias (even though I truly think I have no or very little bias) winter 02-27-2004, 03:36 PM Interesting. Apparantly I have a strong automatic preference for not taking tests. babylou 02-27-2004, 03:38 PM Originally posted by winter Interesting. Apparantly I have a strong automatic preference for not taking tests. Funny stuff.:D pmacwill 02-27-2004, 03:43 PM I get the same results with gender association with liberal arts and science. From taking 2 tests (the latter which I would say I am even less biases) since the tests are formatted the same way, I dare say they could put something up there I was extremely biased about ie duke/unc basketball and rx-8/350z and I'd dare say I would be unbiased about both of those as well (which I'm not unbiased about. go duke! go 8!) noahprtlnd 02-27-2004, 03:58 PM Strong automatic preference for Judaism. Strong automatic preference for Abled Persons. Strong automatic preference for Straight People. Slight automatic preference for Thin People. More to come... wakeech 02-27-2004, 03:59 PM my gender bias test was "inconclusive"... that SOB was confusing as heck. Winning_BlueRX8 02-27-2004, 04:07 PM strong automatic preference for straight people... Strong automatic association between European faces and American... hmm. more to come. mental pimp 02-27-2004, 04:48 PM It says that i show strong preference over Judaism, not sure wat it means..... mental pimp 02-27-2004, 04:51 PM The tests are too long and annoying.... Shocka 02-28-2004, 11:31 AM Originally posted by mental pimp The tests are too long and annoying.... yah i quit half way to get a beer! guy321 02-28-2004, 01:02 PM Im about to take the test, but I was born biased guy321 02-28-2004, 01:03 PM Too many tests, and too many questions. I'm biased alright.. biased against the tests! Speed-ER doc 02-28-2004, 03:11 PM The tests only take about a minute, two at the most. They SEEM long because as you take the test, you can see your hidden biases being exposed, and it is frustrating. Just answer with the first answer that comes to your mind, if the picture doesn't change, push the other button - your bias has been exposed! It is uncomfortable to take these tests, because we don't want to admit we ARE biased. I am ashamed, and will double my CONSCIOUS efforts to change my unconscious attitude (if I can). VikingDJ 02-28-2004, 03:39 PM I just started guessing and clicking the keys like mad, and I got HAPPY. Does that mean I am not bias. I THINK NOT. Bogusa test, but nonetheless interesting. |
