Hi guys...
Im owning à 2001 Mazda Protégé and i had my windshield changed 1½ years ago. A few weeks ago, i took my car to a high pressure water car wash (still winter here -20 celsius). When i came out to check if everything was clean, i saw rust coming out all around the windshield. I was like OMG!.

Now im asking myself if there was a knew mfg problem about that or if i should target the windshield service company that did the job.

I will be able to post picts in a few days (they are on comp at work) if some of u would like to see the carnage my little baby
(well for some of u its only a cheap econo sedan) have suffer.

Maybe some of you know a few place where i should check to get information.

Thx for your help!!:o

I think it is an issue with the installation of the new windshield.

I owned a VW Passat and this was a known issue. When the old windshield is removed the glass is bonded to a flange that encirles the entire windshield. VW was experiencing problems with the tech or techs scratching the metal on this flange while removing the old adhesive then reinstalling the glass. Later on the windshield would leak because it was discovered that where the factory anodized finish was scratched off the metal was rusting through.

The fix was to reprime the entire mounting area of the windshield prior to mounting the glass. This ensured any water leaking thru would not cause expensive rust outs of the flange.

I would have either the dealer or the glass shop check under the glass for any rust outs. I cannot tell you if this would be a warranty issue either with mazda or with the comp that installed the new glass.

Hope this helps!
