Maybe it is a cultural difference or maybe I have got hold of the wrong end of things -

But - Is a 'graduation discount' what I think it is ? i.e. you get money off the car because you are just finishing college ?
Is that normal ?

Just curious....

Its a incentive a lot of automakers use to get young people attracted to the brand, so they will be buyers for life.

Several moons ago, I got the graduation discount for my first post-college car purchase.

The program exists under the belief that most people after college are purchasing their first new car on limited funds, and they try to make that a positive experience for the new owner, who could potentially become a loyal buyer in the future returning to the brand again and again.

The incentive is a small price to pay for a young loyal brand buyer.

Is there a "statute of limitations" on the discount? I haven't bought a new car since college but I got my degree 2.5 years ago. Hope I can still get $500 off.

Hmm....is there really such a thing? I guess one must request this discount Crystal Clear to them.....

So technically, one should show oneself to be in some sort of financial difficulty to obtain this discount? --> blunt way of speaking..

Then again.....it doens't make sense anymore.....so if one were to progressively print out those fake college and PhDs online everytime they make a purchase, they would save US $ 500 off...

Hmm....loophole in the system ?

lol...i think I just complicated the situation everymore... :)

Greetings!

Both when I did this, and my girlfriend did more recently, they needed to make a photocopy of your original diploma with the school's embossed stamp on the proper paper.

I think it usually must be within six-nine months of your graduation date and it's only for college graduates.

Mazda has a Graduate Program, if you go to www.mazdausa.com you can read about it. However, for those who are buying the RX-8 when it first comes out, I doubt it will be useful. It will probably be limited to MY 2003 cars. The X8 will be MY2004, and thus the discount won't apply. Program get's updated every 2 months or so.. I was counting on this program to help me .. but by the time the RX-8 is out, I will be 2 years out of school.... doh!
