This is my first time posting and pretty much a newbie. Wondering what RPM's r you guys hitting around 80 MPH in 6th gear. I'm hitting around 5000 and wondering if this was normal for the car. I know many cars usually run around 3000. Thanks.

It depends on what gear you're in.... In 6th, you should be at right around 4000rpm at 80 mph.

I think that 3000 RPM in 6th is 60MPH, so 80 MPH should be 4000 RPM (assuming a 6sp manual, don't know the auto gearing).

In 6th, it's right about 4000rpm in my 6MT.

Whosyourbaba: In 6th you should be about 4000 RPM in a manual - not 5000. If you're in 5th, not sure but can check for you. No chance you're in 4 th rather than 6th? John

Still not clear what you mean - you can NOT be doing 5000 rpm in 6th gear at 80 mph. Either you're not in 6th gear, you're not doing 5000 rpm, or you're not doing 80 mph, or your car is broken.
