Though the image itself doesn't do anything for me personally, it's a cool concept -- I like it!

Its kind of like one of those 'Easter Eggs' sometimes found in various software packages. You may stumble upon it, then again you might not but if you do it brings a smile to your face.

I'll grant you the picture get's chopped up by the edges, but you can see a certifiable hottie in there . . . and it doesn't do ANYTHING for you?! I'm worried about you man. Just looking out for a fellow Hokie! :D

i seriously wasn't...he IS gay as stated by himself and the second part of my comment dealt with the fact that some gay guys can find women attractive while perhaps he doesn't...i'm not making fun of anyone

no i think Elara warned against using the term "gay" to mean "dumb" or "stupid"...in this particular case, calling someone "gay" means he's literally a homosexual which in itself is just a fact and nothing to be ashamed about...

if you were gay and i called you gay, i think the proper response on your end should be, "damn right"...i don't consider that "childish name-calling"...

To clarify, I AM gay, and BRx8 certainly didn't offend me by saying so.

i have no problem with gay people either...being that I enjoyed the rave scene and all I have quite a bit of gay friends...

but people were warned for using "gay" to mean stupid or weird?..THAT is stupid...gay has many meanings to it...it's called Word Progression...it's kinda like the word "bad"..it used to mean not good..now it has so many freaking meanings it's rediculous i.e. bad = cool...same as the word gay...gay = happy, gay = homosexual, gay = stupid/wierd...my friends that are gay say, "that's so gay!" to things all the time...I think anytime someone talks about eating crackers they should be warned cause I might get offended or some other white forum member...

And as far as your gay friends using that phrase, it's kind of like african-americans using the "N" word amongst themselves.

i was being so very sarcastic...i mean it's not to offend anyone what so ever...i just think it's funny to be warned for using a word that has different meanings to describe something or someone and somebody has to get all upset because of the way they are 'used' to hearing it...that goes for ALL words..hell in Europe cigarettes are called fags...sorry, if I were gay..i could give a crap what people use the term for...but that's me...i just think it's silly...

I understand that you were being sarcastic, but there's a very important point here...it's all about the *intent* behind the word. When someone says "Thats so gay" about something that annoys them, they're using it to mean something negative, an insult if you will. That's what makes it offensive.

When a British person calls cigarettes "fags", there's no insult intended, it's as you said, just another meaning of the word.

My problem is the origination of the word. The reason people started using it like that was because being gay was considered bad, socially disfunctional, etc.. So it evolved into calling things that someone doesn't like "gay." Doesn't mean it's right. People used to use references to blacks in the same way. Didn't make it right then either, and if you hear anyone doing it now it's a mjor social faux pas, not to mention extremely ignorant. I don't see how this is any different.

yes it is...there are 3 gay men working in my office and before i had any contact with them, i admit i used to say, "that's gay" when referring to something i thought was "dumb" or "boring"...it was never intended to mock homosexuals, i just grew up with a bunch of guys that also used the term so it grows on you...but when i started meeting more and more gay people, the term just began to feel derogatory and i began to limit my use of it
