All right, here's the situation. I had a real bad scratch in my black RX-8 that I NEEDED to remove. It was way too deep for Zaino by itself so I used Meguiars Heavy Cut Cleaner followed by the Fine Cut Cleaner and finally 3-4+ applications of the Swirl Remover. I then applied two coats of Z-5 and 1 coat of Z-2. The results, for the most part, were awesome. I wish I had some before and after pics to show.

However, I noticed the next day that in bright sunlight some of the swirl marks didn't completely come out. You can't actually see the swirl marks unless bright light crosses it just right (anal, yes, but I aim for perfection). I am almost certain that these slight swirl marks were actually left behind by the Swirl Remover!

I was thinking that enough coats of Z-5 or Z-2 would get rid of them, but I don't know. Which is better for multiple coats to get rid of something like this? Z-5 or Z-2?

I'm still pretty happy about the results because it's way better than that ugly scratch. If you're not me, it's really tough to tell there are any swirl marks at all, but I would still like to know how to get rid of them.

If you're trying to get rid of swirl marks, definitely use the Z5. When you're happy with the results, top it off with Z2.

Did you use it by hand or machine? what kind of swirl remover did you use? If you don't have a PC yet, you should think about getting one. Its very easy to use and it will make any polishing or waxing easier and less time. z5, will only cover those marrings but won't remove them. some swirl mark removers needs to breakdown the abrasives to properly polish and burnish the paint. If not properly broken down it will leave some fine marrings from it's abrasives.

I use a rotary buffer in the proper RPM zone (I think around 1500-1800 RPM) with all Meguiars Professional products, as well as their recommended pads. The Heavy, Medium, and Fine Cut Cleaner's all have what they call "deminishing abrasives" that keep from getting real bad swirl marks or scouring the finish. I used their #9 Swirl Remover 4 times or more so to ensure that the swirls were removes and it looks awesome for the most part. When I finished late in the day on Sunday, you could not tell there was any kind of swirls at all and the finish was smoother than it had ever been. Meguiar's also points out that the Swirl Remover can be followed directly with a wax such as the #26 High Tech Yellow Wax (I used Zaino). It's just when the sun runs right across you can still see small leftovers of swirls that I believe were left behind be the #9 Swirl Remover. I don't know what else to do. I'll see what Zaino and Meguiars say.
