Just a simple poll but how do you pronounce mature. I've heard ma•chur and ma•tour and in my book the second way just sounds annoying. I've noticed a lot of my professors saying it that way and I though to myself I wonder how the rest of the world says it. So people of the world ;) how do you say mature?

I selected your first option. From my quick search, neither way is right or wrong. It's just a matter of personal preference, and which way one feels more comfortable & confident speaking.
The only individual I've run into which said it like your second option, was one of my elementary P.E. teachers. Always thought it was funny, but who am I to criticize. :p:

"Mah-tour" is technically correct, but both are probably considered acceptable as variations in speech. I definitely say it closer to "Mah-chur". Unless you're focusing on making the hard T sound, you can see how similar "mah-tour" and "mah-chur" sound if you're saying "mah-tour" fairly quick.

In my opinion they are no way close to sounding the same. Tour and chur are no where close haha. If you ask me it sounds like when I hear someone say mah-tour it sounds like there is emphasis on the "our" making it sound kind of like a French accent. :dunno: but it bugs the hell outta me :)
