View Full Version : '08 40th Anniversary Edition
Romboter 03-28-2011, 10:26 PM I've been looking at getting a '08 40th Anniversary Edition. Seems the price range is around 17-18k with 50-60k miles.
Sound about right?
Had my eye on a really nice '09 for just under $18k but someone snatched it up while I was trying to hardball the dealer, oh well always thought the 40th looked better.
Damn thing had been on the lot for months, figured the dealer was ready to make things happen to get rid of it.
Razz1 03-28-2011, 10:59 PM Test drive it.
Romboter 03-28-2011, 11:12 PM None of them are local, gonna have to make a road trip of it.
Till then I'm gonna keep hitting up the local dealers for drives haha
xexok 03-29-2011, 01:15 AM Make sure you look in the for sale section here, should be able to get a much better deal that at a dealer.
Don't just look at the regular dealers like toyota, honda, mazda, etc. I found my rx8 in the back lot of a lotus dealership for a pretty good price.
usnidc 03-31-2011, 08:29 AM I got my 08 40th last year with only 7000 miles on it for $24,000. You should be able to find one with less miles than 50k.
I got mine from a Mercedes Dealer in Pennsylvania.
jskup1 03-31-2011, 09:34 AM That does seem like a lot of miles for that price.
Romboter 04-02-2011, 01:05 PM 50k miles on a 3-year-old car is right at the average of 15k per year, I drive under 9k a year on average.
Two have my eye.
1) 50k mi for about $18k
Is a single owner in great condition, the owner took it in for dealer service every 4,500mi on the dot just about
2) 16k mi for about $20k
A single owner as well and in similar condition minus all the service records
So two has a quarter the miles but is 10% more and one has a good documented service history and is 10% less but more miles
Both are in great condition. To me number two seems like a good chip to play against number one to get a lower price, maybe increase that 10% to 15-20% :)
rx8search 04-02-2011, 04:31 PM Got my 2009 R3 with 19k today for $20,400 in PA. I could have negotiated some more, but I guess I am ok with what I paid.

Reserved for moi and flying down Sat to sign and drive home :)
I laughed at this line..."Fuel Efficient!!!! What are you waiting for?!!!! There is no better time than now to buy this wonderful-looking and fun 2008 Mazda RX-8 40th Anniversary Edition."
Anyways, also listed as having the Appearance Package, the Rotary Accent Package, Fender Strakes, Front Air Dam, and Side & Rear Aero Flares. But as you can see only the Accents are there, no problem though, I wasn't a big fan of it all...although I almost went for THIS ONE (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=c&car_id=296684724&dealer_id=38748360&model=RX8&only_photo=1&start_year=2008&search_type=both&distance=0&advanced=y&end_year=2008&only_price=1&default_sort=priceASC&max_mileage=60000&address=30066&max_price=21000&seller_type=b&make=MAZDA) but someone beat me to the punch by a day...
I will be sure to post some pix when I get it home.
Romboter 05-15-2011, 11:30 PM Ok, I finally got my butt out of the drivers seat long enough to take some pix to prove existence ;) (http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=3978209&postcount=106)
vpj420 06-05-2011, 12:37 AM Not too bad of a deal. I'm looking at getting mine on Monday. It also is an '08 40th Anniversary with 30K miles for $19500 out the door with taxes, title, and license. That means the sale price is around $17800. It is in really good condition with only two small dents (less than the size of a dime) and one small scuff mark on lower right front fender all of which will be repaired before I pick it up. I'm also having them do a compression check for the heck of it. I'm lucky the dealership (it actually is a Mazda dealership) doesn't know much about that particular model. They just see it as another '08 RX8.
Romboter 06-05-2011, 01:34 PM I'm having issues with the dealer getting it's s#% together, my temp tag expires today and they still haven't got it registered and tagged in my home state like they said they would. Kinda pissed off because I have been calling and sending emails for a week now and the farthest I have gotten is talking to the damn receptionist and voicemail messages...f*#^$

So what happened with the car? Did you get this car from the dealer far away? I let go of some great deals on RX-8s far away, mostly because I didn't want to deal with what you are facing now.
I know many people constantly buy cars from different parts of the country. But when it comes to the wire, you really have to have the time and resources to follow through. Dealing with registration and financing issues out of state can be a real pain. I hope you got your situation resolved without much headaches.
I just got my 40th AE :D:
Romboter 06-28-2011, 11:14 PM Got thought eventually and they next day'd another temp tag. I need to start calling again for another this one expires in about a week. As long as I always have a tag so I can drive I'm happy, I don't care how long the real thing takes!
I just wanna ride, wanna ride, wanna ride...I mean zoom zoom ;)
