Hi,

I just got word that my RX-8 GT (Silver) has arrived at Port and s/b here in 2 to 3 weeks. I am just deciding on a few accessories I want, and would appreciate some feedback.

First off, Tinting. I have done had the Tint done myself on my past few cars, but on my current Acura the person doing the tint actually ended up cracking the inside door cover. So I wanted the dealer to take care of it, so they would be responsible to ensure there was no damage.

Here's the problem. They quoted me $598 plus taxes which I find to be extremely steep. The aftermarket tint jobs I've had in the past ranged from $200 to a max of $300. They're going to have to get it done aftermarket anyways, and I think i'd just be paying them their cut.

!!Has anyone had their RX-8 tinted in the Toronto area, and if so, any recommendations on where to get it done ? If you've done it through your dealer, how much did they charge ?

Also, I most likely will get the moonroof deflector, front and rear rotary crests. I wanted to get the alluminum scuff plates, but maybe later. My question is do you think it's worth getting these through the dealer, or aftermarket ?

WHAT?! they qouted you SIX HUNDRED BUCKS?! I got mine done today, even with the door panel removal to do the front windows as well it was only 229+tax! I got mine done from Trim-line vancouver, but that's, in vancouver...
Get the mud flaps or the aero deflectors, they keep a LOT of grime off your front doors and rear bumper
I would also suggest the footwell lamps (aftermarket if you want) they're really cool at night I think

I'm hoping to get my RX-8 tinted this Spring/Summer as well. $600 sounds really steep!

I bumped into a guy with a silver RX at the 24 hr wash bay on Bathhurst and Davenport (anyone else use this wash bay?), and he said he got his tint done at Ziebarts for $180. Has anyone else gotten their tint done at Ziebarts? Does this sound about right? How's the quality? I examined the tint on the guy's silver RX, it looked really good.

Oh, one more question, does 30% sound too dark? Will I have problems with the cops if I do this percentage all the way around (minus windshield of course).
