I want to see how many of us have sunroofs on our cars. Do you think a real sports car should have a sunroof or is it just a luxury feature?

View Full Version : Do you have a sunroof? cas2themoe 02-16-2004, 05:36 PM I want to see how many of us have sunroofs on our cars. Do you think a real sports car should have a sunroof or is it just a luxury feature? Outlaws eXtreme 02-16-2004, 05:53 PM Lucky the RX-8 isn't a "real" sports car anyhows :) rx8gator 02-16-2004, 06:20 PM I use mine every day with the wind deflector. The weather is great right now in S. Fla. Worth every penny. Tamas 02-16-2004, 06:31 PM I'd like to have one, "sports car" or not... but then I wouldn't fit :D Monique 02-16-2004, 08:25 PM oh yes, a sunroof for me is almost as necessary as the stereo!! also, i like the way the wind deflectors look, but how much of the open space does it cover with the roof open? im curious bc the roof doesnt seem to open that far as it is. or can the deflector be positioned far enough towards the front of the car where it doesnt block the roof? sorry if im getting off the subject. BRx8 02-16-2004, 09:37 PM definitely sunroof...i'd love convertible but too impractical for me...anyways, the 8 isn't a "REAL" sports car anyway, it's a luxury/sports car more like the G35...so i have the sunroof, automatic leather seats, and navigation allstate 02-17-2004, 09:16 AM No sun roof here. My last car was a Miata so I have sunroof/convertible burnout (tired of the road noise, rattles, and occasional leaks) I'm sure I'll go back to a car with a sunroof/convertible top with my next car. VikingDJ 02-17-2004, 03:39 PM With the wind deflector, I admit I am disappointed in the amount of size you get with this roof. Barely enough to even stick your head out. I guess I got used to my previous car, which had a huge removable sunroof, that was over twice this size. It is better then nothing though, but very small. clems 02-17-2004, 10:16 PM I have to say a sunroof was a must. This is one of my favorite features on the car! msrecant 04-12-2005, 11:13 PM Yes, the Sunroof is a MUST! If you want Touring or GT package features you MUST buy it! Color me highly irritated. (slow night, decided to check out the polls) DARKMAZ8 04-14-2005, 09:27 AM no sunroof here. :) I intend to keep the 8 and turn it into a sports car at some point. Sunroofs make a car less rigid and will be another thing that breaks down in 10-15 years. The 8 might not come stock as a sports car but soon It will show it's true colours when prepped for race and the extra headroom for my helmet is needed. :D GotZoom 04-14-2005, 09:28 AM All our cars have (or had) sunroofs or were convertible. An absolute must. khtm 04-14-2005, 09:52 AM Sunroof, and I love it. But when the time comes this summer for me to wear a helmet I'm going to be damn uncomfortable! snizzle 04-14-2005, 09:57 AM A definite MUST. I love the sunroof... it makes the car that much more enjoyable on the sunny days. And even if I don't want the associated air/noise I can pull the shade back and get more light in the cabin. Feras 04-14-2005, 09:57 AM i like my sunroof and seeing as how if i do autox its going to be less than 1% of my driving i think ill be happy with it, although im gonna get banged on the roof with my helmet. Rupes 04-14-2005, 09:58 AM I like the way the roof looks without it. Though I must admit I wouldn't mind having one on my car either. Zaku-8 04-14-2005, 10:53 AM i would love to get rid of my sunroof somehow and put in its place a simple, removable hatch that is structurally sound Nubo 05-03-2005, 05:18 PM I wouldn't mind having one but there's just not enough headroom. Cosmetically, the car looks better without it. It IS nice to be able to exhaust the heat out the top when you get into a hot car. Im_DANomite 05-03-2005, 05:39 PM i like it without the sunroof. - cleaner looking - one less thing to malfunction - one less thing to leak - more headroom - lighter but the main reason why i got my 8 w/o the sunroof is b/c it's gonna be what people want 10 years down the line. i'm coming from the MR2 community and to find a hardtop turbo model is like a diamond in the rough. same with the supra guys. but then again, both of those cars were either targa or t-tops. i guess we'll have to see what it's like in the future!!! dazygirl415 05-03-2005, 06:19 PM I got it and I love it. I drive with it open everyday. I don't plan on autox, but if I do, helmet won't be an issue b/c I'm only 5'1". :D phee 05-03-2005, 06:23 PM Definitely a sunroof! Mine is open unless it's raining, night or day. zoom44 05-03-2005, 06:26 PM i voted no because i have a Moonroof:) hey phee BOO!! tiggerlee 05-03-2005, 06:42 PM I luv my sunroof. that's was one of the things I really wanted on my new 8. As far as headroom well, I'm 6'2" and have plenty of it. rx8wannahave 05-04-2005, 07:10 AM I miss having a sunroof.... :( NVMYGT 05-04-2005, 07:28 AM My sunroof is open whenever possible. It makes the car feel more open and makes it brighter inside. jenkins-crew 05-04-2005, 07:57 AM Didn't want one, it was too small. Maybe if they had put the slide back instead of pop-out I would have gotten it. Moostafa29 05-08-2005, 08:48 PM The sunroof is one of the main reasons I picked this car over the 350z, as bad as that sounds. I wanted a sports car, but at the same time I promised myself when I bought my first car it would have a sunroof. I also wanted something with four doors. Its like this car was made for me! doccable 05-08-2005, 09:57 PM When I test drove the car, I drove one with and one without the wind deflector, and as much as I'd prefer the aesthetics of the 8 without the wind deflector, the noise level was noticeably different. titaneum_grey 06-06-2005, 12:22 PM I definitely didn't want the factory sunroof and oppted to wait out the aftermarkets. It didn't open all the much and, more importantly, I thought it took away from the lines of the car when open. I am hoping to find something like the moonroof I had in my nissan 240. If anyone has ever had or seen one you'll know what I mean. The only draw back I can see is the noise at hight speeds but you don't get it when it's open and if it's not,,it usually isn't the best conditions for driving at those speeds anyway. titaneum_grey 06-06-2005, 12:33 PM i voted no because i have a Moonroof:) hey phee BOO!! I'm looking for one and any suggestion or direction would be of help. Thanks. Angelo |
