colors are completely customizable...there is a cost though.
The first few pics show the normal color.
is there an option for blank rotors
Yes I can have that happen instead of having them being slotted. But there is no cost difference I'm afraid.

No these are direct fit. OEM dimensions. Fronts will work with the GT RX8's only....rears all the same.

oltmann 04-16-2011, 10:11 PM Pretty with a legit drop in unsprung mass. Were I not so poor... Dunno why more aren't interested.
FYI, only series I base autos have the smaller front rotors. All manuals and any auto with sport trim or higher have 12.7" front rotors. I think all S2s have them.

THmotorsports.com 06-21-2011, 11:51 AM looking for two piece slotted...
best would be the GiroDisc...since its an actual floating rotor.
Next best thing would be the DBA 5000 series.

MarkLinRacing 06-22-2011, 06:57 AM How do these compare with the DBA5000 rotors?
Looks like these GiroDisk rotors are straight vane?
Also, how much are the replacement rotors?
ShellDude 06-22-2011, 10:41 AM I wish this was around 3 years ago.

GiroDisc are more motorsports oriented, and are a true floating design....they have room to contract and expand without putting stress on the hat or rotor.
DBA have kangaroo paw inside...
pic explains
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRrWgVQAcvOGYAKit9tPGCEBxt13IIhg BEu22yo74jd9ikXWihFRA
I found that the girodisc are much tougher and replacement parts are much easier to attain...
~ 300-350 per axle for replacement rings with all hardware for girodisc.
I wish this was around 3 years ago.
yup...
MarkLinRacing 06-22-2011, 08:13 PM After doing some quick research, I think I'm pretty set on these rotors...
They do look like true 2pc floating rotors (looked into DBA5000 only to find they were not which was surprising to me). Also, looks like GiroDisk has curved vanes. :icon_tup:
But first! I would need an RX8. :p:
How much would the the shipping be to Canada?

Eudm markets have even different trim names. Type S doesn't really apply.
To make everything clear you could state that it will fit any rx8 that was originally sold without the possibility to install 16" wheels :)
Many many low and high power engine cars (auto\5sp manual and 6sp) share the "GT" trim of our american counterparts... making everything hard to identify at times!
However i'm the other guy interested with vcoil's purchase. F\R set.
Cheers!

What are you looking to compare? Braking power will still be determined by the pad you are using...rotational mass/weight will be saved with the girodisc for sure.. and they are intended to be very tough.
But these are OEM size so no BBK style big rotors. LMK if you had more specific questions.

I will take care of my customers at cost when the time comes. It will depend on what is needed...but buying new rings will be less than buying a new kit.

P.S. In fact people who evaluate the buy also think to a complete kit swap and ask questions about the ability of the oem front calipers to develop all the power from this rotors.

We have been very successful with running Carbotech race pads with these. Very good combination as far as longevity and performance.
I think the OEM calipers are very good...the whole hydraulic system in the RX8 is much better than most other cars in the market...including the STi, which we road race. Its very well balanced, and with the proper pads, fluid and rotor for your situation, you should have zero worries about your brakes. Unlike the Subarus and 350Z's....not sure on evos.

THmotorsports.com 10-12-2011, 06:25 PM Any idea when the order will be submitted? I'd like to get my hands on them pretty soon as my rotors are pretty destroyed.
Well so far we have about 2-3 people only interested. I have no one actually pulling the trigger.
We need 5 orders...
once submitted it will take about 5 days to have them made.
from there shipping can begin after all of them arrive at THMotorsports which will take about 3-4 days to arrive.
SO shipping can begin as fast as roughly 2 weeks.
I cant order them in before all orders are placed.
If someone wants single piece rotors or anything like DBA 5000 series just let me know and I can work with them.

Yup I answered Ingemar today with all his questions. Not sure why I havent already.
Basically in a nutshell if the OEM rotor will fit it the GiroDisc rotor (since its OEM dimensions) will fit as well.
If you guys put the money up others will follow. If nothing is happening I can always refund you guys. We will do this via Paypal as well so that it can all be secure and easy, and refunds are a breeze.
I need to get 1 address for you guys for a freight package...it will be easier shipping wise.

THmotorsports.com 10-28-2011, 02:46 PM LionZoo - Do you want XP8 pads F&R?
THmotorsports.com 10-28-2011, 04:59 PM BTW to my European guys.
the cheapest shipping method will be the USPS (postal service)
Front pair is $150 to ship
Rear pair is $100 to ship
60-70 lbs is the limit. So i have to ship these in pairs. Cannot ship in a set.
GiroDisc has shipped them to Europe before many times and they charge those rates. So we will do the same.
All quotes i received from freight companies were much higher.
Hope this helps.

If you can get Girodisc to ship directly to those of us on the West Coast, it would be much appreciated. Also, if the pads can be shipped ASAP that would be great as well. I'm running out of brakes.

I got more info...and will PM you ASAP!
When Will the discs ship out?
Been talking to GiroDisc and they are still working on them...I will post up more solid information shortly, as I get it. And I will also email everyone that paid with an official invoice as soon as I can.
Once they ship we will email all tracking information.
bse50 11-07-2011, 05:44 PM I will send you a pm tomorrow with some nice invoice infos for the european members :)
LionZoo 11-10-2011, 12:07 PM Any update on the order status?
THmotorsports.com 11-11-2011, 01:49 PM Ok guys I have combinations of good and bad news...but most are pretty good.
First off all orders were submitted and the hats are being machined. Everyone will be finally receiving their official invoice emailed to them with a PDF attachment today. And those who are still perhaps going to join its still not too late.
Bad news is that it may take longer for these to be made than originally anticipated. Sorry TrochoidMagic....I know you were itching to be at a track day with these puppies in 2 weeks. But its still uncertain when we will be getting them out in 100% ready form. But due to how close you are to GiroDisc you will still be the first one with them. If I can get an exact ETA I will definitely post that up.
The reason for this is because GiroDisc will want to make sure that there will be ZERO fitment or any issues what so ever. We want to ensure it is beyond perfect. I will even be sending in my hubs, spindles, calipers and anything else brake related/needed from my RX8 for Martin @ Girodisc to look at if needed.
If anyone has any questions directly to Martin @ GiroDisc who is now in charge of making this happen, feel free to contact him next week, and he will have all of you guys info so he will know who you are. More bad news is that my original friend over there Johann, who this was started with, is no longer going to be working there, so this is why Martin is now taking over. BTW Martin is the owner of GiroDisc so we are all in great hands.
http://www.girodisc.com/Contact-Us_ep_5.html
or feel free to message me as well if anything.
SO overall we are on a good track and things are coming together. But we all need to be patient with this. GiroDisc has never let us down, and I trust those guys all the way.
I will post up more news and any pics as we move forward.
-Adam

how is it going? are we seeing our nice brakes (and pads for some) to christmass?
Its going good. Martin updated me that he has a new model and is going to be using the CAD drawings with the new updates.
So yeah it is taking a bit longer, but this is better than seeing there is not enough clearance on the hat from the caliper cage. These could have been released already I bet but the clearance would be too tight that if some crap (rocks, heavy dirt, track crap) would fall in of some sort between these they would cause some major issues.
Once I get more news I will post up.
-Adam
fastlaneracing 12-13-2011, 11:06 AM A no worries, clearance is mutch mutch importent. take your time =)

This was yesterday:
girodisc martin: material just arrived for the hats so they are being programmed. Rotors are supposed to get here from the foundry on Friday or Monday. The chips will fly next week and I'll have some good stuff for you. Thanks for your patience.
Some delays, and they do a lot for how small they are. We are getting close boys!!!
Happy Friday everyone!!!
-Adam
bse50 02-03-2012, 01:17 PM Awesome news!
At least for the european crowd the delay was not a real issue, sweden and luxembourg are extremely... icy and I can't drive at the moment so we were lucky we paid them with a weaker dollar back in the day!

I hope they planned at least a 5 years support for spares.

The ETA's that I was given are simply ETA's...I know GiroDisc are doing their best but yeah the ETA's I admit are not the best. Definitely taking longer than otherwise stated.
I misunderstood what they meant by cutting. Those were the models. Testers. They tested for clearances with plastic cut models.
Also they are perfectionists there...and this is why its taking longer. This is indeed good and bad...

Support and replacement parts will be available when needed without issues. Pretty much all the applications that already exists have the replacement parts ready to go. Its just the applications that are not yet ready like this that take some time unfortunately.
I know everyone is waiting and its tough...I will be asking to see if they can do anything for us to speed things up.

(11:28:10 AM) Adam K: so are these the most perfect hats you ever made?
(11:28:35 AM) girodisc martin: well
(11:28:55 AM) girodisc martin: we had one hat that the needle didn't move :-)
(11:29:04 AM) girodisc martin: but these are damn good
(11:29:22 AM) girodisc martin: they are small in diameter, and have some section to them, so that helps
(11:30:13 AM) girodisc martin: the big hats for 15 and 16" rotors are harder for sure
(11:30:25 AM) girodisc martin: we are happy to see .0005-.0007" with those
(11:33:13 AM) Adam K: I love the precision and craftsmanship sir!
(11:33:17 AM) Adam K: keep up the good work!
(11:33:33 AM) girodisc martin: we try :-D

LionZoo 02-10-2012, 12:03 PM Hi Adam, if you can pass this post along to Girodisc to make sure that they don't make the same mistake, it would be great. http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=3056848&postcount=80 Thanks.
THmotorsports.com 02-10-2012, 12:05 PM Hi Adam, if you can pass this post along to Girodisc to make sure that they don't make the same mistake, it would be great. http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=3056848&postcount=80 Thanks.
Indeed...I will pass this along just as a precaution. However this is why girodisc is testing and made mock models based on the actual Front and Rear RX8 brake assembly. We are talking about the entire spindle, hub, caliper, caliper cage, etc...
but I will pass it along.

THmotorsports.com 02-10-2012, 03:49 PM Straight from Girodisc:
Adam,
Martin took a look at those, he said those rotors were actually made in Taiwan. He said he’s aware of that issue and that our rotors will have no issues clearing the calipers.
Thanks for the heads up though, it is much appreciated!

fastlaneracing 02-27-2012, 07:16 AM It's no longer freezing there? :)
nope, +6C and all the snow is gone since 1,5 week. spring is comming up! =)
and my rex needs new brake disc's, my stock disc's is totally worn out and even have some small cracks... they have lived since 2004 and 3 seasons with track duty.
I give the stock brakes A+ on the RX-8.
But these girodisc looks soo nice and light weight!
THmotorsports.com 02-27-2012, 07:49 PM Adam returns from Vaca tomm, and he will be more than happy to update you guys :)

fastlaneracing 02-28-2012, 05:44 AM Looking forward! =)

Email me and I will double check. adamk@thmotorsports.com
Your pads are already at GiroDisc waiting the completion so they can be put in the box with the rotors once shipped.
Hey guys I am back. I will shoot over an inquery to see if we can get a possible ship date.
bse50 02-29-2012, 01:16 AM Sweet!

fastlaneracing 03-01-2012, 10:17 AM Whats the "free stuff" thats is written in this threads topic? =)
THmotorsports.com 03-02-2012, 09:43 AM Whats the "free stuff" thats is written in this threads topic? =)
The price originally was going to be a little higher since I wasnt sure we can do a GB on this. To offset this I was going to throw in free stuff (brake pads/SS Lines). Not happening anymore since we were able to secure the GB lower pricing and make it ok with GiroDisc for this one time.
UPDATES as of early this week:
Rotors are all cut and at zinc plated.
Hats are all off the lathe and ready to go on mill, then off the anodize
If I get some pics I will post

LionZoo 03-02-2012, 01:22 PM Is there an ETA on delivery?
fastlaneracing 03-04-2012, 10:12 AM is there an eta on delivery?
+1
:)
THmotorsports.com 03-06-2012, 12:02 PM Sorry guys still waiting on a proper ETA....
bse50 03-06-2012, 12:40 PM Are they using a baby's teeth to machine the hats?
This is getting annoying. Not your way of dealing with us Adam, Girodisc's one of dragging their feet.
TrochoidMagic 03-06-2012, 04:02 PM Missin out on some decent track days :(
THmotorsports.com 03-06-2012, 06:16 PM I am being told they will be shipping early next week.
bse50 03-07-2012, 01:12 AM now we're talking!
fastlaneracing 03-07-2012, 05:28 AM I am being told they will be shipping early next week.
Great news.
Its going to be a tight schedule but it should work.
Im guessing 8 days delivery to Sweden (it usally takes that long when ordering from USA)
THmotorsports.com 03-07-2012, 12:02 PM I am super excited too guys!!!
LionZoo 03-07-2012, 03:36 PM This is great news, though I hope my beat to shit rotors will hold out for one more trackday this weekend.
fastlaneracing 03-12-2012, 03:57 PM Time for tracking no :)
fastlaneracing 03-13-2012, 12:36 PM Its the beginning of the week, tracking no?
bse50 03-13-2012, 12:49 PM I'm sure Girodisc wouldn't like all the european guys asking for their money back because of these stupid delays.
bse50 03-13-2012, 01:01 PM Well so far we have about 2-3 people only interested.
Adam@THM
^^^
This is what i'm talking about btw. 2 weeks became months.
fastlaneracing 03-13-2012, 03:08 PM I'm sure Girodisc wouldn't like all the european guys asking for their money back because of these stupid delays.
If the disc arent shipped this week I want a refund and going someware else...
This delay starts to be silly.
fastlaneracing 03-14-2012, 02:54 AM I am being told they will be shipping early next week.
Adam, its time to let Girodisc know that they have to send the discs and tracking no ASAP.
Giustino 03-14-2012, 06:49 AM Adam i understand this may be out of your control, but I have lost patience like the others. Next week... refund or tracking no.
fastlaneracing 03-15-2012, 12:57 PM If the disc arent shipped this week I want a refund and going someware else...
This delay starts to be silly.
The week is soon over, Adam, please inform girodisc that if they dont send out the disc and provide us with tracking no atleast I am going to ask for a refund.
I cant wait anymore, sorry.
My local brake dealer has some nice disc ready to go for me...
THmotorsports.com 03-15-2012, 11:42 PM Guys. Sorry i have been MIA for the last few days...been slammed with work and was not able to be on here much. However got some good news. Talked to Martin at Girodisc today and he told me the rotors will be shipping out OFFICIALLY next week.
The one thing that they do not do in house is anodizing...and the shop that does it for the stalled hard core. Finally they are finished. I will ypdate more soon. But please dont worry...we all(including me) are almost there.
fastlaneracing 03-16-2012, 02:07 AM Another next week?
bse50 03-16-2012, 04:54 AM Let's see if it's really next week...
Adam i think that i'm speaking for everybody when I say that we're not worried about our money but the delays are becoming a huge issue for most. Especially in europe the season is open and going to track events or races without any real shakedown isn't the best way to start!
Please remind about the invoice thingy as well ;)
fastlaneracing 03-16-2012, 07:50 AM Same here no updated invoice.
Took the freedom to mail girodisc they told me to send the disc yesterday or today.
I cant have another week delay.
As bse says the season is right at the door now and i hate to miss prepayed track days.
Maybe girodisc should give us some sort of gift for the delay?
In this time frame i could built à complete racecar from scratch.
THmotorsports.com 03-16-2012, 02:22 PM Actually they told me they can ship today even. I will be going over all the orders with him shortly today.
Being patient sucks I know...and this is a long azzzz time to wait. I know guys. But this is all 100% from scratch custom. It took longer than originally expected for sure.
We will be emailing tracking shortly.
Thank you guys
-Adam

finally figured out why you did not get the updated invoice. With your full name and your full email address it exceeds the amount i can use on a single line and that is how the invoices get sent...
I am resending...meow

c0ldf1ame 03-16-2012, 04:59 PM looking good Adam, just wanted to make sure lionzoo's and my orders are for blanks and not slotted
Giustino 03-17-2012, 03:41 AM adam, just one slight adjustment on the invoice, in the address it has USA instead of AUS. Can you please adjust and email the new invoice through. :)
fastlaneracing 03-17-2012, 03:46 AM ^^ Masterpiece up there Adam.
I guess it was worth the long wait.
Now when Girodisc have all specs for the rex, ordering items in the future wont take any waiting time? for example worn out disc.
TrochoidMagic 03-17-2012, 10:38 AM +1 for having blank rotors and not slotted.
fastlaneracing 03-19-2012, 05:59 AM Ok the disc are finished now its time to pack them and give us tracking no. No more delays.
bse50 03-19-2012, 10:18 AM Bump for tracking numbers. Can't wait!

bse50 03-21-2012, 10:12 AM Let's hope they decided to stop bullshitting us.
I sent you a mail yesterday with the infos you requested Adam concerning the invoice
THmotorsports.com 03-21-2012, 11:38 AM just confirmed! Going out today. All boxed up ready for the shipping people.
bse50 03-21-2012, 12:16 PM Let's hope it isn't another "today" like last friday.
If i were them i'd upgrade all orders to the fastest possible option at no charge. I wanted to order a set for the ferrari as well but i'm not really convinced anymore.
fastlaneracing 03-21-2012, 01:00 PM Same here, Im sorry that you have to take all this Adam when its all girodisc's fault.
If im not going to get a tracking no on latest friday (this one) I do want a refund so I can pull some stings here in sweden and get some brake disc superfast.
The season is on now here in SWE.
